tony banks said this tour was the least fun -- but I love it anyhow, this rael character is so supercool, i find the whole story great, the topped ´em all with this album!!!
Another comment about this being ahead of its time - I always thought the keyboards on this track sounded very much like Gary Numan (several years later).
@ntrlmass I think that Brian Eno got with PG (and the rest of the guys) - following their early (very influential) trips to NYC. He was pretty well plugged into the early stuff going on at CBGB's ..and PG saw the distant "wave" of the future rolling into shore. That's why he insisted they do something as avant-garde punk at The Lamb rather than Mike Rutherford's idea of an album based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry' 'The Little Prince'. Rough time for the group, emotionally. Change=Pain
ive always assumed johnny ramone attended the lamb show when it hit ny.bowlcut, leather jacket skintite jeans and sneakers.plus the characters name is rael,a puerto rican street punk.but i cannot imagine johnny admitting the influence.
I totally agree with the punk link mentioned, thought it all along. As a youth this song really captured a raw energy, I thought Gabriel was so ahead of his time. Also sounds like Peter Hammil. Of course peter played at the first punk festivals.
Someone pointed out Peter Gabriel's performance probably influenced the advent of Punk Rock. The Black leather, the dirty T-shirt, the overt sexuality, the growling Thug delivery, the big belt buckle ect. Peter was way ahead of his time.
I sent you a message. Also the latest word is that Genesis may, in fact, be interested in including this footage on the LLDOB SACD/DVD to be released in (i think) late 2008. I wonder what kind of deal is being worked out, a percentage of the gross or net sales is another option for the owner I would think. The guy would be a fool to just give this up for credits only. That would be so lame if he does that - a percentage of profits is fair.
@Tommygun1028 So what ever happened with this footage (or the like) being included, anywhere, official, on a boxed set? Tommy, I know you've got your own offering (which is great & much appreciated)...but, did the band take possession of it, somehow - for future public consumption?
There's more of this, but asofar this is the only part released. The owner is attempting to sell the whole video to the Genesis management for the 1970-1975 boxset. What do you think of the video?
Very smart for the owner to negotiate a deal with the band for this. That's what I would do. And the band should jump on it. The investment will pay for itself quickly, it's only money, I'm sure they could work it out then millions of 30+ and over Genesis fans who r 2 busy to peruse the internet looking for 30 year old footage of their once favorite band will be very happy.
ok, so I address the same question to you: where you've got the last words from...?? Do you really think Genesis management is going to pay for a private video? they didn't do it for London Roundhouse 1970, "the only proof Anthony Phillips was with Genesis"... reply in pvt if you want... cheers!
Out here, is ok. I don't see what the problem is for a corporation to pay someone for their footage. So what, they pay the guy or give him credit and a royalty based on sales. I was offered credit only for my Stagnation & Harlequin videos which was ok with me, but I see no problem at all if the owner of the Lamb video wanted money and if I were Genesis, big deal, give the guy the money. The return will be just fine.
well, I can tell you that they've got the video, they didn't pay anything and probably they are not going to give any credit for that... Which dates were your Stagnation and Harlequin taken from? Private dubbed footage, I guess. Just curious...

@AZNewsWatcher I think they took possession of it but decided it wasn't good enough to use in the last box set release

Yep--would be a great extra on the Pete years box--clean and synched!
How cool! LOVE to see the rest, too! (And, I only saw this year's tour 10 times!)

GO for it Genesis! Clean this sucker up and put it on the box!
From 1 of the dwindling few fans who saw the tour this year 14 times :)

hi there mhspiper, who told you the story of Genesis going to buy the whole Bern 1975 video? I'm curious, let me know. Cheers,
