I loved going to see these guys most of all out of the punk bands that came out of Vancouver. The first time I played this song there was an outraged reaction from my dear mum and soon after my dad gave me a set of those massive "home stereo headphones."
Caught the spirit of the time better than the Clash. I like the Clash, but who the hell in 1980whatever knew what a Sandinista was? i know what a Sandinista is now, but the Evaporators were speaking against the same thing but in a way 1 12 yr. old could understand it at the time. Brilliant.
OMG that is amazing to hear ! I had my vinyl copy lost years ago and just thought about them ! Saw Art at the Horseshoe in To. too, many years ago when he made his comeback ...I was yelling Hullabaloo girls Art ...HE yelled out do I know you or something ? hahaa He never did any of the classics but what a show ! Kudos to those who post some of the lost punk CLASSICS (THE SAINTs TOO ) :)
Classic Art... I believe they were called the X-Tel's after the K-Tel's, no? They had to go to the Young Canadians from litigation threats if I remember.

My theory it the rain is what sparked punk. London, New York and Vancouver. Rain, fog and dark.

the evaporators were 8years old when sandinista came out.

@pronchias - Well, anyone who read the newspapers and filtered out bias could have learned what a Sandinista was.

This has been one of my favourite Vancouver tunes for years. Mary Jo makes the video gold though.
