  • Nice banjo, great sound, killer track. Good job!

  • @PhilUSAFRet cheers!

  • Sounds great , you play it well too

  • @sjeter61 cheers! oh well, that was funny to revisit, it's still one of my favorite tunes and it sounds so different nowadays...

  • This sound so killer!...It would make a killer sound track!

  • hey there,

i live in west virginia, not too far from dwight diller, and i play his version too :) sounds great! keep it up.

  • That's good shit. I hope you made that it sounds great. Fretless aint easy and you make it sound natural.

  • thanks. actually it's not really fretless any more. the different scale length to my other banjo drove me nuts and my hearing pitches isn't to great either, so i burnt lines onto the neck to be able to see what i'm aiming for.

  • neat-o! What tuning is this in?

  • thanks! must have been in gDGCD. it has a slightly shorter scale, but with those nylgut minstrel strings it works just fine.

  • thanks! yep, i did. wanted to see if i would be able to go fretless and happening across a banjo in the music shops around here is difficult enough. they are still somewhat of a rare oddity around here, let alone one fretless and left-handed. at that time i bought the 'primitive recordings' cd by Timothy Renner, which he recorded with a cigar box banjo, and from there on the path was clear.

apart from the action getting very steep after around the 7th fret, it went well enough i think.

  • Sounds cool.Did you build that?
