  • Thanks again for the videos -- and keep 'em coming! Is your profession herps, or some different field altogether?

  • Herp are my passion...I make my living in the field of Science & Engineering.

  • wow so you have an incredible private collection, I always assumed that it was your job, your set ups are incredible

  • Al, It's been a while! I wanted to first thank you for the picture of Mr. Sniffles. My GF loves it and wanted me to thank you. I also wanted to ask if we could get another vid of your naja, puffy the puff adder, and mr brown (I'd LOVE to see them feeding). I was watching a few of the older videos and was hoping we could get a reintroduction to a few of your beasties like the mangshan or squam.

  • Hi my friend:

I'm glad she likes the photo :-) I'm thinking of making Mr. Sniffles "Bobble Heads" and Tee shirt's LOL... Some of the animals like the Browns and & Mangshan are at other facilities for breeding. Sadly I found Miss Puffer dead New Years Day this year. I have no idea why she died. I miss her alot :-(

  • Oh no... my condolences. It's sad to lose a companion of any kind, zoo-specimen or pet. -_-

  • Thanks...(eye's watering)

  • Good lord... how do you keep calm in situations like that? O_o

  • As I said, something reacting to an "event' puts you in more danger than just sitting tight. I'll tell you, my sphincters were puckered on that one!!

  • great videos viperkeeper....AS ALWAYS!!!

  • the pak russels was like... i wanna have it ass to face =]=] lmao

i have a mlittle request al - you have a lot of new vivs and setups im seeing - is it possible you could do a room tour so we can see how everything is?

  • I have a two part video that is of the current configuation uploaded Dec, 2006

  • really? - i have watched them and it seems different to me... i will go have another look lol

  • Incredible videos viperkeeper, you are obviously very experienced. I am interested in your opinion of Austin Stevens (I'm sure you've seen his TV show). Given the respect you show vipers that you deal with every day, it seems inconceivable that he could handle wild snakes like the russels viper without getting nailed regularly. Is he a fraud or simply a bad influence?

  • Well, I know people in South Africa who know him and think highly of him but this is a public forum. I don't think I will discuss Austin here.

  • Just asming because he is a total fraud and jackass, am I right?

  • Well... I noted in one show that he was in East Africa hunting Gaboons and the one he "caught" was a West African Gaboon.... Go figure??

  • "Well... I noted in one show that he was in East Africa hunting Gaboons and the one he "caught" was a West African Gaboon.... Go figure??"

Yeah. Just like he 'happened' to come across the most impressive specimens of King Cobra, Bushmaster, Eastern d-back rattler, and Reticulated Python.

Austin Stevens's show is so staged, Marlin Perkins could've sued for copyright infringement.

  • Joy juice, haha.

Is it possible to suffer a venom injury from ejected fangs?

  • That's something that's been debated and there is no diffinative answer. You could suffer an Anaphylaxis type event from a snake fang.

  • does the yellow snake eats?

  • Yes...

  • hay im just about to get a ball python and looking for vivs for it and just wondered what is the name of your vivs you use and a site i could get a look would be handy chears

  • Viperkeeper,

Your videos are so insightful and I appreciate you making them. I must have watched every one 5 times each. One thing that I ind amazing is your husbandry and upkeep. Your snakes couldnt ask for better homes and I can only imagine what goes into keeping each cage in that condition. I look forward to many more vids. Think you'll ever get an adult brown? That would make a hell of a vid.

  • That's a good looking Russel's viper. Do you still have the siamensis species as well?

  • Yes, I have both adults & juvs.

  • I was once told that its not a good idea to put allot of stuff in venomous snake cages cus it makes it to hard to get them out of the cage. Have you had any problems with that?

  • I like to make my animals feel safe & secure by adding "Homey stuff", however, I limit the items in the cage where their comfort does not compromise my safety.

  • I told you the long hemostats were a good idea. Not only do they keep your hands farther away, but in an emergency, you can parry with them. :) With the really bad ones I like to position myself where the glass is in between the snake and my hand also.

I wish I could record decent sound in my snake room... Even if I turn off the air condtioner and remove the mouse cages I still have rattlensakes buzzing loudly in the background every time I move.

  • Yes, Larry..long hemostats saved my ass this and many times...

  • Two questions:

    1. Any chance of getting some more crotalus or agkistrodon vids?

    2. Is it true your facility is in PA?

  • i like that, "joy juice"...funny.

  • Hehehe, nice to have the slow motion vocal stylings back.

  • do you ever wonder what those snakes are thinking " wth why is that mouse walking upside down oh well FOOD" another great video thanks

  • Must suck to suddenlly find a lone fang pierced in your skin... like "that was dumb" XP Anyways, must say i liked the new idea Walk the Plank...it would have helped alot with a troublesome Boa Constrictor at a zoo i used to work in, a few months ago...sigh..will keep in mind.

  • Who stuck themselves with a Gabbon Viper Fang

  • I'd rather not say, since they know who they are.
