  • The greatest f.w album. Arch was off the hook. The first album with aresti also. Such a perfect record.

  • I don´t consider this song a balad, its a progressive metal song!

  • amazing

john arch was fates warning. i am from ct were these guys are from .new haven area. i felt this band with this line up should have been progressive metal icons maybe they were ahead of their time.love all the old fates jim laudano

  • my girlfriend got me a poster of this album artwork! :] best girlfriend ever award

  • ART IS GREAT !!!

  • I have so many memories from my childhood when i hear this lp , this lp should go up in history for what it is

  • MOST UNDERATED BALLAD IN THE METAL WORLD!

  • @darrelwylde Thats so true!

  • this song always reminds me how beautiful can music be...

  • A fucking classic!

  • always loved this song!

  • One of my all time favorites by FW! Right On!

  • now i can go around and tell people "i'm better than you fucker" just because they haven't heard this mater piece and i have the cd!

  • Love this sweet progression. Ending is blazing!

  • Fuckin' awesome!

  • A truly amazing band, Fates Warning open my imagination to new types of parallel universes ruled by witchcraft and demons. Mark Zonder is a terrific drummer aswell with great off-beats to top it off. 1986 and the entire decade was memorable year for metal and even if there are still many great bands today, it will never be the same again.

  • FYI, 25 years later, Arch/Matheos have released a superb new album. Just search 'Arch/Matheos' on YouTube for clips.

  • love these guys...if anyone has time check out my project orion....very much influenced by bands like these guys, megadeth, anacrusis, amorphis, testament ect...the track we have posted is lies within the lies...its about marshall law being declared and the warning signs that have been telling us for years...its a rough demo so be nice...i truley appreciate all feedback be it positive or negative...i dont have the cash to promote a record so here i am...rockin to a sweet band, promoting my stuff...

  • 1986 has to be one off THE best years for rock/metal music. Here's a list of what I can remember (this adds to Beatrix 13) came out in that year. Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time Metallica - Master of Puppets Bon Jovi - Slippery when wet Slayer - Reign in Blood Boston - Third Stage Judas Priest - Turbo Motorhead - Ogasmatron Meat Loaf - Blind Before I Stop Europe - The Final Countdown There are probably more but that covers a wide a range of rock/metal
  • there back!

  • 1980 - 1989 best decade in metal

  • 2:35 I'm with the wizard Tony Stark

  • fucking awesome

  • ATG ... still one of my all time favorite albums. But the cover still reminds me of a giant frog. ha ha

  • @EHou01 Lol, I hate you... now I won't be able to NOT see the frog xD

  • grow up human...fantasy as a wish...gigantic props for FW being way ahead of their time...JA was freakin amazing!!

  • FYI ,,Artch - Matheos CD out 4 day.s... reunion ....New Fates to me. Heard it all... great. I think the only reason why Jim Matheos reuinted with John Arch is because he heard how good his solo shit was without him....Play Relentless by John Arch on youtube and you will hear a 12 minute masterpiece.

  • Saw them on this tour. opened up for Queens R......... San Antonio at Sunken Gardens!!!

  • King Diamond's Fatal Portrait was in '86 also!

  • Oh, come on, isn't it the most incredible song you have ever had the pleasure to listen to? I mean, Arch's voice gives me chills in every single moment, so emotional, so beautiful, so "Fates Warning"...

  • Judas Priest - 1986 - Turbo

  • @diogotomediogo Probably the only disappointment of a great year of metal releases.

  • @thefateshavewarned disappointment my ass.... asshole

  • @diogotomediogo Okay, I will admit, Turbo wasn't a total diappointment. There were a few good tracks. People like to give "Turbo Lover" a lot of crap when I actually don't think it's all that bad. Locked In and Out in the Cold are pretty good to, but "Rock You all Around the World", "Parental Guidance", and especially "Wild Nights, Hot and Crazy Days" are some of the worst songs Priest ever wrote. I didn't think Turbo was horrible, just overly commercial and inconsistent.

  • @thefateshavewarned that's better. every judas priest album is unique. and on turbo you can call it commercial, i think the songs there were very original. just look at the sounds of turbo and especially the guitar on locked in

  • @diogotomediogo That's exactly the reason why I love Judas Priest. Even if I didn't really like the release that they put out, they always try to do something different to ensure that their sound remains fresh and experimenting with new styles and influences helps you see what works and what doesn't. The exact same can be said for Fates Warning, experimenting by combining elements of metal, prog, industrial, and even some new age music. The result is a unique sound that stands the test of time.

  • Keep It True 2012,dream comes true.

  • This song is truly a masterpiece! Its rare to get a band these days were you can actually hear the emotion and passion in their songs. Probably why im listening to bands like fates warning over any band producing music these days!

  • IRON MAIDEN - SOMEWHERE IN TIME !!! The best metal album in 1986!

  • amazing song

  • @Beatrix13

    wat about somewhere in time/?

  • @Beatrix13 Not to mention Voivod's Rrröööaaarrr and Manilla Road's The Deluge!

  • arch/matheos don't miss out.

  • One of my first records! I can still listen it with the same pleasure...

  • The beginnign so epic

  • glad to hear Helstar and Fates Warning getting some love.....great time for metal indeed

  • Probably John Arch's toughest song on vocals! :D I almost lost my voice in a few places, so I changed octave quickly and dramatically! :D :D I thought I Knew it all!... Heheh! :-)

  • This song is so fucking good :D

  • @winterthorn1971 and for me a big mac please!

  • @winterthorn1971 ja odkryłem ich dzisiaj. Są niesamowici!

  • Such a beautiful song. It had a major impact on my life.

  • @MrEpiclyrandom Oh, I should have made it clear, I knew it was their 3rd album when I recieved it, my friend turned me on to them, so I knew at the time I needed to check out their earlier albums, so I finally did after almost a year of listening to A.t.G

  • @MrEpiclyrandom I was the same for about 9 months. Listened to this album non stop in my car cd player for close to a year. Then I got their second album Spectre Within and that didnt leave my cd player for about 6 months lol

  • This is my favorite song...

  • The Apparition off of Spectre Within is my favorite track from Fates, but this one does come pretty close.

  • haunting....my fav fates warning song from my fav fates warning album

  • @m3talgiant : I totally agree. Best of the best...

  • Why didn't someone tell me about this band earlier?!? Haha

  • I got this for Christmas when it first came out. Awesome, trudging through the deep snow. Coldest winter we had in Lupton,AZ. 11 degrees below zero.

  • Truly EPIC!!!

  • @MyMytalMajesty he's trollin lol

  • @MyMytalMajesty I take everything seriously.

And I'm serious, you guys love this band too much.

    Go marry them.

  • @MyMytalMajesty Because I'm me? No other reason needed.

  • Comment removed

  • One of my all time favorites, I agree 1986 was a great year

  • Absolutely Brilliant piece of Music right here. Great song.

  • @MyMytalMajesty Yes I can.

  • This band sucks.

His voice is terrible and high pitch for how heavy they are.

There is no depth to this music. I'm sorry, fanboys.

  • @deathtoall87 Haha next you're gonna say Rob Halford or Bruce Dickinson have voices that are too high for the heaviness of their bands. That argument is invalid. Next....

  • @deathtoall87 Or you just trying to piss people of or are you just incredibly ignorant and closeminded?

  • @Guyverhoeven The first one.

    Looks like I'm succeeding.

    I enjoy Progressive Metal.

  • @deathtoall87 i kinda agree

  • maravilhoso

  • I will wish upon a star

    I believe in you

  • I remember seeing them on this tour in March of 1987 in San Antonio, TX. The show was called "Party in the Park" and also featured Killer Dwarfs, Omen and was headlined by Saxon. I still have my T-shirt actually. I remember Biff Byford couldn't believe the size of the crowd!

The highlight was FW of course & I remember this was either the last show John Arch played or one of his last shows before he left. Incidently, they found his replacement, Ray Alder obviously, in San Antonio.

  • @MetalRob67 OMEN!!

Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force Trilogy, Zero Nine Intrigue...

I have these all. My older friend (40) and I have this inside joke about his musical taste: whatever band in question, his favourite album is always from 1986, no matter what. We laugh at this fact all the time, we both enjoy these albums...

  • What a great riff. Only from 1986...if it's not from 1986, it's not good enough!!! LOL

  • @Beatrix13 a GREAT YEAR INDEED.

  • @Beatrix13

    Peace sells - Megadeth

and last but certainly not least

    Crimson Glory's eponymous debut

  • @Beatrix13 That's not even close to all of them Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Kreator, Metal Church, and plenty more. It was a good year.

  • @Beatrix13 Peace Sells and Somewhere In Time too!

  • @Beatrix13 rage for order...

  • @Beatrix13 What about 1990?

Slayer - Seasons in the abyss

    Judas Priest - Painkiller

    Megadeth - Rust in peace

    Queensryche - Empire

    Testament - Souls of black

  • @bakvarnyu

Rust in Peace is the only one of those albums that is particularly good.

  • I cant stop listening to this right now!

  • Gives me goosebumps every time:

I had a dream I was you strong as the fire

In your veins then when I called out your

Name I would remain and witness the pain

I am beyond silent black I will be back

    As your guardian

Still sounds so fresh even today.

  • I had forgotten about these guys! One of my favorite bands growing up as a kid. This is a great album

  • First time for me to ever listen to this band... Maan... They bloody rock! \m/

  • @Megadave616 Fates Warning are way f'n awesome!!

  • Hell Yes, this is the shit. As far as retards go, you spoken, therefore, we've witnessed your retardation fool.

  • this is the best too bad FW recorded only one such badass as ATG

  • @h1e2x3 Spectre Within was pretty good too. I listen to those two more than I do Night on Brocken. However Night has some good tracks like Damnation.

  • this song takes all other ever written songs real hard from behind.

and you know what: the other songs want more and more and more.....

    in other words: PERFECT!!!!

  • A magical voice...

  • 10 dislikes? really? tone deaf fuckers!!!!

  • kept me alive

  • 10 Persons didn't listen the Warning.

  • it taste like poopoo same feeling

  • This is one of my favorites from this album.

  • Arch>>>>>Alder...no?

  • @evermetal2 ...YES!!!

  • Arch/Mateos... new album in the works!

  • @bloodysmurf really?cool!

  • 10 ppl have no clue what music is and probably suck shlong

  • Such a wonderful belligerent melancholy, I love this song.

  • Songs like this are what kept me strong back in the day. There just isn't music like this anymore. Bands today just don't have any idea what it's all about!!!!!

  • @flamingitaur There are still bands who know how to play good music around.

  • 0:38 < Pure melancholy supreme !!

  • @666Seelensturm Exactly!

  • @666Seelensturm

    Exactly!

  • Since its birthyear givaway, im 32 and catched the fates magic as it came out!

On this album the voice is, although making the song, a bit off it seams.

  • these guys just all out rip major ass with Artch. PERIOD

  • second that

  • @MyMytalMajesty Sound of Perseverence and and Symbolic were both pushing into prog metal territories

  • Death, as in Death the band not Death the genre

  • It already fifteen years since I heard this song for the first time. My musical taste has changed significantly since those days... but I still love this song & album. Thanks guys!

  • I forget how I found this song but it was the one that introduced me to metal ballads which is now my favorite genre.Without this song the music I have written would be nothing. This song molded me to who I am today.

  • Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • play new Orleans!!!!!!!!!!!!. haven't seen ya since D.C. a long time ago. No one plays here anymore that's good..

  • @MyMytalMajesty Death is progressive metal too ;)

  • for a moment i thought i was listening to sebastian bach

  • ahuauhauh chi ha messo non mi piace sa una sega di metal!

  • Mike Portnoy himself LOVES Fates Warning. IMO, the five most important prog metal bands are (not in any particular order), Fates Warning, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, and Symphony X. Oh, and Death.

  • @ub3r2008 Lol if Death is prog metal then my top five would be Coroner, Toxik, Atheist, Deathrow, and Xentrix.
