In Detroit there was a police officer who was stabbed in the back and another officer was shot when they detained a man in a wheelchair. They thought he wouldn't be much of a threat given his obvious handicap, until the man stood up stabbed one officer took his gun and shot the other and ran off. He stoped the police officer pushing him out of the area. If he was able to walk he would have been grabbed by the arm and escorted.

He was moved because he was refusing to get out of the way of a police charge and so was being an obstruction and an nuisance, regardless of his disability.
That said, they could have just wheeled him out of the way in his wheelchair. Dragging a disabled person like that is not just dangerous, but offensive and disrespectful.
To be fair to the police, it was one policeman and the others grabbed him and physically manhandled him away.

In Detroit there was a police officer who was stabbed in the back and another officer was shot when they detained a man in a wheelchair. They thought he wouldn't be much of a threat given his obvious handicap, until the man stood up stabbed one officer took his gun and shot the other and ran off. However, people very rarely removed from crowds unless they have done something that is worthy of being removed. Was Jody throwing objects at the police? Was he repetitively using offensive language? Did the Police feel he was at danger in the crowd?
