  • I thought it was invented by the Beatles!!! :o

  • @Wiktoria166 the marvelettes

  • Oh, Karen. You were so amazingly talented! I don't think I've ever heard a smoother, more elegant voice. If only you could have seen how beautiful you were to go with it.

  • I love this, it makes me in a good mood even though the lyrics are a bit sad.

  • she died to young

  • angel voice

  • The Carpenters' version of "Please Mr. Postman" was released 37 years ago this month. I like this version better than The Marvelettes' original version! This was also Richard & Karen's final U.S. #1 singles release.

    R.I.P., Karen Carpenter...1950-1983.

  • weeeeeeeeeeee....I am doing a cover of this---love it!

  • fuck dub step!

  • i don't really care what your opinions are but somehow i think dubstep version ruins the originality of this song.

  • @TheEmilie17 Totally agree!

  • @SuperMe250 damn dubstep version!

  • I heard this on the Oldies radio station and ever since then.. it just randomly pops into my head :D

  • DUB STEP VERSION got me here.....i like the dubstep version just as much as i like this version

  • Really good sound on this video :) I'm so obsessed with The Carpenters.

  • สุดยอด

  • Gladys Horton (marvellettes lead singer ) passed away in January 2011 I give her my vote as best on this tune.. I love Karen.s style and voice. I am her fan. But right is right and there are plenty of us out there that think the same I will bet.

OK now - start dishing the crap on me- I will take it for Gladys and the Marvelettes..Karen knew she was sanitizing and giving a milked down more soothing tune. It played to the masses. It sold and was liked but it ain't Gladys.

    DUCK

  • karen carptenter did a lot better with this song than the orginal marvelettes did.

  • I hate to say this but this is 1000 times better then The Beatles

  • Thank you for taking the time to post this and the others. I've loved her voice since the first time I heard it. This is why we have recordings. Thank you again.

  • The Carpenters are a little taste of heaven.

  • I love the Carpenters and their version of this hit song!!

  • I don't have a problem with covers as long as the people who put the song on the map don't get robbed of the credit they are due. This was a #1 hit by the Marvelettes in 1961 (the first for a Motown artist). As usual, Beatles fans attempt to claim the song as their own when it wasn't even a hit for them.(well, in the U.S. anyway)

  • This sounds like the original. I've only heard The Beatles version.

  • @Denthedragon It's originally by the Marvelettes, not the Beatles.

  • also good!

  • A great cover by The Carpenters! Hit #1 in January 1975!

    R.I.P. Karen Carpenter...1950-1983. I miss you.

  • Music when it wasnt about sex, drugs or violence.

Not saying that there isnt now, but rare to find.......

  • God I miss Her!!!

  • @wisperjet They were the very favorite of my wife and I WAY BACK WHEN we were in college, and that was in 1972. Hard to believe she has been gone all these years. Best I could get from the movie about their lives is that she felt that her mother didn't love her like mother loved her brother with who she performed. If anyone remembers the title of the movie about them, please let me know. Thanks in advance. RN

  • @Angryrnmedic I believe the movie you mentioned is entitled "The Karen Carpenter Story". It aired on CBS in 1989, and it was a number 1 hit movie. The movie starred Cynthia Gibbs and Michael Anderson.

  • Those were the days....

  • As far as I'm concerned, the Beatles can't come up to Karen's version. She had

so much true talent and energy compared to those 4 dudes from Liverpool.

    Karen, you're the best.

  • This makes me remeber my best friend in my childhood in the early 70s Coty Doty Robert Now I wished I could Talk to him!

  • you guys heard the dubstep version ? this is still good

  • I USED TO LISTEN TO THIS SONG N HIGH SKOOL I FINK TZ SO KOOL IM NLY 27 YRS YOUNG

  • This was Cheryl C's favorite song and she was lost in an accident.

Listened to this thinking of her.

I Still have the first letter she ever sent, and always will.

  • "Look and see"

  • This single version always rocks! There's something missing with the album version.

  • love this peppy little ditty. I think the best version of any song is the one where karen is singing it!

  • This isn't bad at all, but I always prefer The Beatles version.

  • Heaven, this is what i call music!!!!

  • i just soo luv this song =]

  • Nice one. Thanks for sharing.

  • In English please?

  • poodle skirts went out of style by the time this song came out .

  • They were the "Saviors Of Pop Music" coming out of the turbulent 60's. With the 'Carpenter' name, came a genuine sincerity and innocence never found before in Pop music. And in December of 1974, Karen and Richard Carpenter were "On top of the world" after they recorded and released their #1 version of the tear provoking, "Please Mr. Postman."

  • Even the "Marvelettes" mavelled at Karen's smooth sounding vocals and rich melodic perfection, after they first heard the Carpenters version of their former Chart topping success from 1961.

  • one of favoarite songs!

    yeah!! LOVE

  • Karen Carpenter's voice is as clear as a bell!

  • I think the Carpenters version of this song is the best one out there.

  • that cute little nose, that happy smile, that beautiful voice,

those bangs, those joyful brown eyes, unmatched beauty. those happy brother sister poses a long time ago, that's Karen! one of the most perfectly amazing stars that shined for me a long time ago! Smile on Karen i'll see you someday!

  • You have no idea How much I appreciate you haveing this I Thank You !!!!!!!!!!

  • Juelz Santana Sampled in "Oh Yes".....

  • Lil Wayne sampled "Mr. Postman" and " So patiently" i think i forgot how to spell that. lol

  • not MY favourite song, but not saying its crap

  • awesome song!

  • ... Bons Tempos... Música de excelente qualidade... a alma chega dançar de tanta alegria... saudades...

  • i love this song so much we r learning this song in clear lake schools please mr.postman but in our book it says its ben so long sence i heard from my friend of mine

  • According to wikipedia it's their biggest selling single worldwide. It must have been a special victory for them being that it's an uptempo song -- not what KC was usually known for. But then their second No. 1 Top Of The World was kind of uptempo too.

  • Thank you for posting! I love this!

  • This version sounded so GOOD on Top 40 FM stations back in late '74 and early '75 when it went to #1. I always preferred it to the album version, which was much less raw sounding.

  • Thank you for posting this earlier version.

  • I love this, thank you!! I love hearing Karen re-record the vocals on songs.

  • third and final US number one.
