You're right that no one has the right to harm animals. Many people use the excuse that God gave us dominion over animals. However, that does not constitute exploitation. After all, a mother has dominion over her child; should she be able to treat them as we treat animals? I do not believe in animal exploitation either and this is why I am an animal rights activist. If we teach compassion, more and more people will realize their responsibility towards animals.

Are you equally as passionate about the aborted babies? Your argument would suggest the Supreme Court has given us the "right" to harm the unborn? At a rate of about one every twenty seconds, I think we murder more children than animals, unless of course you think we should count the animals used as a food source. To keep our conscious clean, perhaps we should use the unborn as a food source? Society was appalled when Jonathon Swift proposed this; we are more civil now, perhaps it is time.

The earth as a whole lives and breathes. Man has sped up the rate of destructive powers that now threaten our planet. It is up to everyone to begin to care about her. The indians lived in harmony with mother nature, at one time. We all can take an example of those who are respecting our mother earth, by not upsetting the delicate and complicated balance of life she still holds.

Indians have never lived in harmony with nature. There has never been a time when human presence did not mean harm inflicted on nature.
Indians were agriculturally intensive and deforestation was only accelelerated by European colinization. The prairies were kept treeless by the indians through periodic burnings and many species went extinct upon their arrival in N. America. The image of inidans as natures children is perpetuated by media and requires a bit of reading to realize its not true

native americans? the ones who immigrated from siberia to the strange unfamiliar land of N america? the ones who drove many species to extinction during thier colonization? the ones who deforested large areas of land to support thier empires (eg mayans). the ones who drove hundres of buffalo off cliffs and only used 1% of the kill (plains indians)? yes, this is the kind of environmental governance we should model. Complicated, perhaps, but certainly not delicate. What is delicate about a volcano or a tornado? Does lightning fry you with compassion? We have dominion of the land and the creatures upon it; the environment is beyond our reach. If you disagree, run down to the beach and hold back the tide, then come tell me how I am the one "destroying" the planet. Sober up. Critically think. Do it today, this is how you save your children.
