  • she was pretty sarcastic about spending. that question came out of nowhere. My take is she's thinking, who is he to question the almight Ben Bernanke and ask him about his work when he's done such a fabulous job and democrats are the ones spending. She's definitely republican

  • "maria... are you a republican?"

    yes. yes, she is.

  • Grayson please

call for another hearing on auditing the Fed

  • OMG, Maria is so obnoxious. I hope she joins the rest of the unemployed soon.

  • Nut.

  • Has anyone noticed how the bit** reporter is behaving

  • @Sagino84

She's a good company woman. And by company woman I mean banking apologist.

  • Nice! Really nice! I am lovin Grayson - as any heterosexual man could look at another...

Maria are you a republican? VERY well done! Keep it up Grayson, we need you! There are very few, who are willing to stand up for what's right... Keep it up - please - we need you...

  • "maria are you a repulican?"

So glad he called that ditz out.

  • Cnbc is a station of Parasites always in search of a new host ,Couldn't think of a better bunch more deserving then them. To watch their stocks and retirements Destroyed. Fast money LOL

  • Helicopter-Ben at the Fed, and Tax-Cheatin-Timmy at the Treasury apparently want the U.S. currency to be used as Kleenex and toilet paper.

  • shes hot...she can get it.

  • Im a conservative and Romney is terrible. Hes a snake oil salesman and a country club republican who is totally out of touch with the people. Give me a break with that guy.

  • Well who else do you have?

  • Watch the YouTubes of Grayson sticking to Burnanke, Treasury buffoons, the woman who is supposed to be the auditor for the Fed who doesn't know where the money went, and on and on. They are real fun to watch.

Grayson is teaming up with Ron Paul to audit the Fed. This is the one example of bipartisanship I have seen in this Congress, and Grayson is doing it.

  • Oh yeah Big Ben Save The Wall Street

    BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

    Not the US Taxpayer

    YOu Understand Maria ah

Only Wall street is on recovery using our money and place your bet again

But us the US Taxpayer cant even pay for their rent, my business and my friend business down like 30%, How come wall street is up 30% but not our businesss

And those big Crop like Applebee tgi friday etc, are trying to complete with us the little guy. 20 dollars for 2 whoa what a great deal.

  • That was way off topic I agree but she is still right. We need to stop spending and start saving in general.

  • Alan Grayson and Ron Paul - 2 great Americans

  • GET PAUL VOLCKER BACK AT THE FED!

  • What a condescending jerk. My sister and most females hate her!

  • what a stupid bitch!!

  • Alan should explain to this harpy that the Fed may be spending trillions to protect the assets of the wealthy, so why is she asking about the much smaller amount being spent by the Senate? We need to know how much tax-payer money has gone out the back door! Go Alan!

  • Maria Bartiromo is a self-serving shill for Wall Street. I despise people who phrase questions in a way that the correct answer makes the questionee look bad. ie. Would you rather of not bailed out all these companies and had a more severe recession? This is like saying, would you rather have the (irresponsible) family be bailed out and live in their mansion or have them move to a slum and suffer from their bad decisions? How can a politician answer that question properly w/o looking bad?

  • She is a "Flat Earther" and more than once had been put in her place by somebody using facts against her.

If she were on Jeopardy playing against a box of rocks and a rubber sex doll, I'd put my money on the box of rocks!

Either she is a twit, or she's playing one on TV.

    LOL!

  • smug bitch

  • $236 billion dollars was secretly taken off CitiCorps balance sheet and adopted by the Federal Reserve without the Federal Reserve putting it on its balance sheet.

And she tries to change the subject??? OMG, this is blatant.

  • She is one of the hottest sexiest woman on tv in my opinion, but she is bought and paid for and doesn't have her head on strait.

  • My goodness, she's just awful...

  • i wish grayson would avoid the partisan bickering altogether just like how ron paul is managing the debate these days. that reporter is a retard by the way, another one among those know jack shit pseudo economist/reporter at cnbc.

  • You don't get to be president unless it is understood that you will not cross certain lines. When JFK tried to rewrite the shadow government rule book, he was taken out. No president is autonamous because he runs the corporation called the USA. He is free to get the results his masters tell him to get. Obama must conduct war and keep the debt slaves under control. It appears that he is getting schooled in a very tough job with on-the-job-training. America has nothing but shitty leaders.

  • she is not a republican, she is a big corp puppet

  • I can't even believe that Bernanke would even be considered given the awful, deplorable job that he has done. When do your reward failure by reappointing such a fool.

  • well technically he hasnt "failed" certain people...

hes kept his mouth shut about where the bailout money has gone to...hes continued to serve the interests of the very few, very well.

the only people he failed were the rest of us, and when did we ever matter to them?

  • I think she sucks, like Grayson, just wish he would demand a public option

  • 2:11

Hmm. Ask a serious question about the deficit and you're accused of being a Republican.

  • I think it was more about the tone that the question was asked in.

  • Yeah, so what? It's Restupidcans who keep asking it after it's been answered a million times going on a year now. Act surprised and you're must be a cheating Republican.

  • The deficit is a problem that is a result of both parties. If we were running a deficit to only keep school and hospitals open like he said than that would be one thing, but we are running deficits that are used to fight pointless wars, give money to wall street, and give money to big business. regardless of who the current ruling party is, the system stays the same. always playing to special inerest.

  • No no no no no no!

Listen to me, don't try to conflate the two parties as one in the same. That is fooling no one with a brain.

Both parties are to blame only in the sense that all politicians can be bought, and the fact that many are.

The key thing to note, however, is that the whole of Republicans have demonstrated being bought off, while those who showed resistance to corporate interests have been Democrats. Don't conflate that fact with Democrt worship because they're anything but perfect

  • So what happens when said person(s) is/are bought by the same group?

The price of a politcian is cheap when you come across people who have more money then the country itself

Its not that the two sides are the same, its that both sides are bought and payed for by the same group of people - but wait, wouldnt that mean that the idea of the group that bought them is being pushed forword more easly?

Take a look at some of the "Laws" that have been passed, like the tax bill nobody got to read

  • not that many politicians are bought, almost all of them are. spend a few hours on opensecrets(dot)org and get back to me on that. Obama got a little under a million from Goldman Sachs. The person who took apart the regulation of the glass-steagel act that hepled make our current crisis so bad was Robert Rubin under Clinton AND Rubin's #2 was Larry Summers who is Obama's #1 so don't feed me that crap. Both parties lead to the same bankruptcy, they are two wings of a predatory one-party state

  • You're not telling me anything I don't already know. I'm well aware of the evil empire that is Goldman Sachs and the federal reserve. However, just because that is so doesn't mean I will throw a dart when given two choices for a party. I'm not going to throw my vote away on an unfounded 3rd party either, not when it means the extremists will remain party loyal.

But if you want to give up and die, go ahead.

  • I vote on principle. I will not concede to voting for a bought off person like Obama so I can be on a winning team. I will watch all of you boneheads pull either the (R) or (D) lever as the these two parties allow their friends to loot our country. If people stood for principle and not vote for who is "less bad" we would not be in this mess. stop trying to feed me the BS that the Dems are somehow lees bad than the Repubs. They are BOTH a bad joke on humanity and will bankrupt us all

  • Well that's your choice. I happen to have some shred of hope that Obama will achieve something compared to any Republican.

I also know it's reality that 3rd party votes for president go into the trash can. That could change some day, but when it happens, it will be evident at campaign time, not as a surprise. Until that time, 3rd party support for a president is the same as not voting, regardless of what well wishers choose to believe.

  • Voting for a 3rd party is not the same as not voting. I can't count the # of times I have heard someone say they want to vote for the 3rd party but don't want to waste their vote. If all these people would vote their conscious, the major parties would learn that they can not take votes for granted. Would it happen in one election cycle? Of course not. Look how the Democrats take the gay vote for granted. If they are denied those votes and start to lose elections, they would get the message.

  • That's what they think, but they are naive. The push for 3rd party president would be glaringly obvious during the election. It would be up for judgment, but it would be obvious to most paying attention. Other than that, it's religious style belief.

  • yea i agree, he shouldnt have said that...

but i think he took exception with the way she asked it...

"you think you and your collegues in the democratic party are gonna slow down the spending"

and while there is massive spending going on...its not like the deficit wasnt already the largest in history when Obama took over...

she asked the question in a partisan way even though the reality shows that both parties are responsible....

  • "Where did the fed put our money" is a fundamental and eminently fair question, and when an interviewer muddies that question with a (valid, but plainly unrelated) question, they are playing politics, not pursuing clear information for their viewers. Grayson points out that she changes the subject while pretending to be discussing the same issue. Republican or Democrat, that's politics, not news.

  • Moose, the next logical follow up to whether or not CORPORATE BUDDY Ben Bernanke should get confirmation because of his unwillingness to be forthcoming isn't "WHY DON'T WE CUT SPENDING"? When Maria says "why should we cut spending", she's really saying, why don't we cut ALL SPENDING for the poor and middle class and NOT CORPORATE WELFARE especially that which is in the form of BAILOUTS that should be accounted for. It's a non sequitur to avoid the issue. In other words POOR JOURNALISM.

  • YOU ROCK! (except for health care 8))

  • Bernanke is scum! END THE FED!

  • Bernanke has done nothing for the American people.

If Bernanke has nothing to hide, he has nothing to fear from an audit.

  • I'm glad he got a chance to talk about the Fed. The more their disastrous behavior is talked about on TV the better.

  • He's one of my political hero's. Along with Ron Paul and Cynthia McKinney.

  • I agree with Grayson on Bernanke. Although Greenspan started this crisis spiral, Bernanke did not act quick enough to prevent the current crisis.

Bernanke kept Federal Reserve rates too low for too long. Bernanke should go back to studying the Great Depression, not standing by while one was in progress right before his eyes in 2008.

    .

  • Bernanke is considered one of the world's foremost scholars on the Great Depression. I think he did pretty well considering what was happening.

  • Wow........I cannot believe what I have heard from Alan Grayson. I am in awe. What an amazing man! I I am very thankful he is the position he currently holds.

  • Google Bank Skank

  • Great job.

Maria is in the Republican tank

  • I hate her.

  • She is dense. A classic example of somebody with no analytical skill at all who repeats what she's told to repeat, nearly a perfect recipe for a shill. Grayson is fantastic, he did a good job with that last question.

  • The media are all repeaters.

  • 2:00-2:20. Low blows like that barely phase Grayson, the man's got balls of steel!

  • While we wait for right wingers balls to drop and their brains to kick in.

  • Man, that Maria is one stupid talking head!

  • I dont understand how the fed thinks it has to right to deny public viewing of what its doing with our money. They dont have money of their own. Every GD dime comes from the tax payer. So who the hell are they to say we cant see where theyre spending it? Bottom line is they dont want the american people to see the receipt from blowing up the WTC in 01. Amoung other things. Those explosives didnt pay for themselves.

  • Go alan GO!!!! F the FEd RES Bank.....

  • maria bartoromo is in love w/ alan grayson...look at how she blushes at the end of the interview. Alan grayson owns maria bartoromo!

  • Why do you say that, why does it matter, and is it because you want to date him?

  • thats a constructive criticism of him

  • WHERES THE FUCKN MONEY?

  • Maria is such a shill. She has the free-market talking points memorized, but she doesn't really understand the complexities. I think Bernanke was the right man in the right place at the right time when the panic hit, but Grayson and Paul are right. The Federal Reserve is not Skull and Bones.

  • How can there be a "right man" in a "right place" when the system is wrong?

As far as Grayson goes he's indispensable in the battle to audit the fed, but he's wrong when he says spending is a separate issue. He's also wrong saying that the priorities have been to keep schools/hospitals open. Their priority is keeping asset prices high while strengthening the dollar but we cannot do both unless people spend money they no longer have because they're losing everything.

    The fat lady is singing...

  • Any system that depends on the right man at the right time is not sustainable and is doomed to failure.

  • Alan Grayson - Leading member of the pwnership society

  • Hey, this guy can kick ass and roll with the punches. If only there were more like him. He seems more like a "statesman" than your typical professional political douche bag. Strange there should be so few people in politics who actually represent their constituents instead of the corps. that hand them black trash bags full of money.

  • Get RID of the THEIF!!! There are more enough still in the Reserve....

Oh! GET RID of The Reserve. That would be the BEST thing to do..

  • GO ALAN!!!! YOU'RE DA MAN!!!!

  • too bad congress doesnt get to vote or have any authority over the fed or its chairman..

its selected by the president from a short list given to him by the central bankers..

shiesterous bastads.. criminals the lot of them.. like trying to audot the irs..

    You dont have the authority..

But sick em, do what you can to dent the beast

  • I don't see it as a bad thing that the senate or congress has no vote in the monetary policy of america. It is just a bad thing that the fed is granted the monopoly power to do it. Get rid of the Fed and keep the politicians away from it as well and we will all be happier and richer people.

  • can you imagine no income tax to run govt?

It could easily be done on the interest payments alone on the debt if we cut out the middle man vampires...

The fed is owned by european families and we pay them with interest to loan money to the USA govt..

    WHAT A SCAM!

THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ON TRIAL IMMEDIATLY...

    RITE ON BILA-

  • Not familiar with the Constitution are you?

    See Art I Sec VIII

The Congress has a DUTY to coin money and regulate the value thereof. How is that not monetary authority?

As for the Federal Reserve assuming those duties, I agree, that is unlawful and the cartel of Banks that does so is an outlaw organization.

  • wow, you posted this fast. I was just watching this on CNBC

  • Great work as always Alan, you should come to Sweden an talk like that to our Riksbanken.
