1/18/2011... not sure; each concert we've seen (see other posts) have been different. Six musicians in band have received dozens of Grammies, and the Band of Joy Album was one of Rolling Stones top 10 of 2010; so if you can get to one of these terrific concerts, do it; but don't expect to see a Zeppelin show.
I understand the need for creative exploration, but does Robert HAVE to change the arrangement on EVERY song? What is the purpose of this? Every Zepp song, every old solo song --they're ALL different and VERY slow songs --almost elevator music. He's losing alot of fans because of this.
@thieverycorp24 Have been to the Band's opening night at the Orpheum in Memphis and their show-stopping performance in Nashville at the AMA's; both great, with rock, blues, their latest album, and some Zeppelin. But if you are going to hear Jimmy Page and Robert together again, you may be disappointed. Go to see and hear a great show.
Plant is a discoverer. New notes. New tones. New people. New music, New versions. He is a artist. MUCH more than I can say for artists his age. This guy is the real deal.
"We Bid You Goodnight" at the end! The Dead used to close out their shows in 69-70 with this traditional, hymn like number. Robert and his band are a class-act. Bravo and thanks for sharing this nice sampler of the show. Cheers.
It kind of bored me...the idea of singing theses classics in different keys is fine, he's 61...but the band sounds like any good bar band in my opinion....nothing special...
He didn't pretend to be the old rock star he used to be.Plant turned down million of dollars just to respect the memory of his former band. Most of ancient rock artists rather to be on the stage embarasing themselves and the audience with ridiculous performances of their old material like Ian Gillan and Ozzy,Robert is not like that., totally awesome and REAL dude
@theachtungtree I'm not saying they should do it for money. It would be great to have the best rock band in history to assemble for one last tour. The reunion gig wasn't enough because the event itself was so awesome that the world needs to hear Led Zeppelin one more time. One more lick of the finest rock that ever existed. It would be great because in my eyes them doing a tour would show what true rock and roll really is. Most of the shit I hear today sucks ass. Rock is dying, Zep is a revival.
@RockerForLife74 oh..ok but you should know that Plant is always searching for new stuff, not that easy to convince him plus imo it doesn't feels right without john...it's like the stones without mick taylor, they really kinda suck right now without taylor's heavy heavy blues sound...the same case without bonzo, zep was fine on that reunion gig and no offense to jason but it felt kinda....stiffed without him
@theachtungtree Always appreciate comments, but just put the videos up for everyones enjoyment, hopefully. Back in '71 a couple of creative guys wrote "Yes, there are 2 paths you can go by; but in the long run...There's still time to change, The Road you're on." Robert continues to change and doing great new stuff. The two guys were Robert and Jimmy Page in a little ditty they called "Stairway to Heaven".
@theachtungtree That's understandable. I think the remaining members of Zep including Jason could in fact pull off a tour. I heard on 94.1 WHJY that Plant stated that he nothing in common with Led Zeppelin anymore. Plant, as you correctly stated, likes to venture into new styles and techniques. Personally, he's doing a fantastic job. Still rockin' out in his 60's alone doing what he's doing is amazing to say the least. It's what we can expect from a rock god afterall. I hope Page does something.
@RockerForLife74 Im really pleased with robert's ventures nowadays....hes not going to stop and he does it gracefully and without exploiting zeppelin's legacy, just honoring zep's influenced and moving foward......jpj is doing a pretty decent job too, now, im dissapointed with jimmy cause he was such a genious back then....now he seems to be on a long vacation and seems kinda lost without zep, kinda sad really
@Venice2me I agree; can never replicate excitement of a live concert and being there; any suggestions on how to better capture this aside from a quarter million dollars worth of professional cameras and recording equipment which would be up to the production company is always appreciated. For the millions of fans that weren't there; tried to do the best I could, and can only recommend C/D out Sept. 14
Just saw the Band of Joy last night in Mobile. He wove a lot of Roots, Americana, spiritual music into the show with some nuggets from Zepplin. Very competent band and vocals surrounding him. Great video but the sound quality doesnt come close to what you'll experience live. It was a great evening, see him if you can.
@shaum11 thanks, shaum... yep had a great sound system and lighting; I was just trying to hold minicam steady and not get nosebleed in the fifth row from the back of the theater in the balcony. Looking forward to album in September; only Plant could do a sold out tour without the c/d in hand.
i kindof like it. i really like how he has learned to sing with the voice he has now as opposed to trying to rehash stuff from 30 years ago. i'm talking to you steve tyler.
thanks, vaibanez17. There have been a lot of comments both positive and some not so much on this post. Artists throughout their lives hopefully move on to new endeavors; such is Robert Plant. When I started listening to Led Zep in the 1970s everyone said they would never sound as great as the Beatles and Elvis; fortunately for us, they did. We love Darrell, Patty, and Buddy's music; so Robert just put it all together, thankfully, and is taking everyone to another artful place.
@traintowns106 you are seriously awesome...you practically lived through the best era of music....the 60s: herbie hancock's maiden voyage, miles davis kickass late 60s period....the beatles revolver....dylan's music....1970's: the stones' exile on main street....zeppelin's physical graffiti...neil young's music,,,you rule
@2112jr1 How would this ruin Robert Plant. He was in one of the best bands ever for tweleve years and now he is pursuing music that he wants with a new band...
Thanks for the GREAT video. I love Robert Plant. Wished I could have been there to experience the concert. I miss when I used to work at The Omni in Atlanta and see all kinds of groups. Those were the days. Thanks traintowns 106.
Looking forward to that new album and sounds like it might be a fun album to listen to but this formation, even though individually these are great musicians, does seem to lack that magic he had with AK.

Hi.
This is a great montage!
I saw him in Calgary in the 1980's, it doesn't look like Robert has lost any of his jam.
Hearing an off-kilter bass line that still worked, and on a Stand Up too!
Sweet!
There isn't any video that is better than "seeing it live".
Thanx
Cheers from
