What about the aluminium, tin, and lead that's in the computer? Solder is made mainly of tin and lead (some containing small amounts of silver) and capacitors have aluminium casings, and are made of aluminium foil. What happens with these metals from the circuit boards?
Anyone do Scrap4treasure? Would love to share experiences. I'm finding gold and silver scrap where I never knew it existed. My gmail address is jhoag53g.
Gold brazing is used for the lines which carry liquid hydrogen because gold is extremely unreactive and very easy to work unlike other metals with similar reactivity.
now i see why so many companies out there want to recycle your old computer and buy a new one they are getting rich off us, and all we get is the satisfaction of helping the environment
those people are barbaric, you could use those beautiful computer parts to create a super computer. many super computers, actually, and you can archive the old monitors for future use.
now every time you find an old computer, rip out the CPU till you have a good badge and then put 'em into Aqua Regia.. Melt them down and you've got GOLD !
have 3 cpu's that i dont use anymore. pentuim 4's, maybe there good for nothing and i could ask someone to extract the gold out. but maybe only little amount will come out.
At Intercon Recycling we have a solution. Instead of throwing harmful computers and other technology into landfills poisoning our earth and water supply, we take a proactive approach recycling 100% of all parts brought to our 250,000 square foot warehouse. We go to huge lengths to make sure you have piece of mind as we transport and disassemble important hard drive information. Email me at Mikejc2200@gmail. Have a look at our website interconsolutions
What happens with the used chemicals?? The garbage dump? And I'll bet that the power used for all that electrolytic metal recovery is NOT produced in a green manner.
Yeah! Go to the chemist NOW, buy HNO3 and HCl and dump your old processor in it. Take your zippo, melt the gold to a nice nugget and take it to the next bank. Buy yourself a brandnew car. Invite your best friends to a splendid dinner and convince them to hand you over their old computers. Call Obama and tell him: "You were right. Yes I can!"
lol, who ever wants to do this at home needs to realise that unless they have a crap load of computers and proper equipment, it ain't worth shit to try this.
Does anyone know when this video was made? Also can the average joe take out parts of old(and new) computers and sell them to these companies who recycle the parts???
But i do own a ewaste recycling plant of my own and this is very true. We do this everyday but our method is a little more complex then the one shown.
yeah i guess one could assume that if they were living in the 90s! Welcome to the 21st century and the almighty EURO! did that not give you a clue to why i misunderstood that?
Those Computers most likely have a OS Problem, LOL!!!

I find it hard to believe that a ton of computer parts(about 2000Lbs) to make 6500lbs of gold. That seems a very unlikely to me.
