  • We just went to T-town to take donations down there. The place is still a mess. You can smell the rot and see the look of shock still on the victim's faces. Only pockets have been cleaned up so far. But groups of people down there have organized to support their neighbors and other 501C groups. The cooperative work there is amazing. Many people are volunteering from other states to help the children, the mothers-to-be, diabetics and those who are left behind by larger organizations.

  • and at 3:05 it showed off to the right side of the screen it destroyed a chuck e cheeses of tuscaloosa it was terrible.

  • @ 4:58 I though that was going be it for the damages other than some trees.

But then when he kept going to show the other side of town I said holy shit!!!

  • Oh damn i didnt want this video 2 end...i mean i wanted 2 see the ENTIRE damage path :(

  • instead of praying why dont people do something. Praying is equal to doing nothing

  • @Plumyplum no.

  • hell no, I'd never live in any state that is notorious for tornado's, hurricanes or tsunamis. Why? because this is what happens. I'll stick with living in my "earthquake" state, California. Which, by the way, I haven't felt an earthquake in about 20 years

  • @javius1220 alabama isn't known for tornado's...the last one that did any damage here was years ago.

  • am I hearing this right? with all that damage over such a wide-spread area only 15 deaths? that's gotta be a mistake. if it's not, that's a fuckin miracle

  • @TheIxtlan bet you feel like a dumbass now hahahaha. 7/24/2011. still here :)

  • To cowd002, check out the videos of "corcoranp" He insists that his videos aren't offensive. I didn't think there should be so much laughter and things like, "awesome!!" in them. He's cruising T-town checking out the damage like it is soo amusing, laughing. Filming the Pleasant Grove tornado like it was sooo cool!! I was offended!!

  • back in 79 I helped in the clean up the wichita falls texas tornado that claimed a good portion of that city. All I can say is I've dontaed to the salvation army and I hope tuscaloosa gets things back in order again. sorry for your loss.

    jsr

  • Has anyone heard that an EF5 can strip the skin and hair off a person. (If the person is still). I know they have found cows with their heads ripped off and skinned.

  • With an EF4 or EF5 no structure, no matter how well built can take a direct hit. These tornados bent steel beams, can pick up pavement. The best place to be is underground. No matter where you live in America or Canada, if the sky darkens, tune into local weather.

  • @banner1835 You can say that again! I worked at the Wrangler Distribution Warehouse in Hackleburg and I always felt save there, never in my life, for one minute did i ever think we were in any danger from a tornado

  • Brick does worse because it is too rigid and doesn't give like a stick (wood built) house. But nothing stands up to a direct hit.

  • All my problems seem so minor now ...

  • This is what just happened in Alabama!!! Man this breaks my heart. I am going to take a 8 day trip down to help out with some relief work. It will coast about $350 and the rest of the money we raise will go to churches and family to rebuild! If anyone is interested in donating money get in touch with me. We are leaving on may 16th God bless

  • @7j7daniel Good Job. We just went down there with roofing supplies donated by Lowes. We plan another trip in September. If you go again, & want to take supplies, check out Lowes and ask for shingles etc. that are in busted bags. They'll reduce the prices drastically plus if you call Corporate you might get a small donation. Then you ask them to use that donation for the shingles in the torn and busted bags. We ended up with 2 palettes that way. ($50 donation goes a long way that way)

  • I think this exceeds the tsunami in japan recently

  • @PakdeHari not quite but its pretty bad

  • You just look at the devastation and wonder, "Where on earth do you even BEGIN to clean up?" :-( Prayers for all affected.

  • Judgement Day is near folks. May 21, 2011

  • God doesn't exist but tornadoes do.

  • @DUBSAC GOD DOES EXIST!!! I can't imagine living without him or trying to get through something like this without HIM.

  • @rdc617912807 But you have lived without him because, THERE IS NO GOD

  • @Plumyplum

while you are certainly entitled to not believe in God, others are just as entitled to believe in God. Just understand that the two sides can coexist.

  • If there was ever a time where I actually believed all this end of the world crap...it would have to be now. Japan, Alabama, terrorism, animals just dying randomly, right-wing feelings popping back in Europe, etc...it's been a very hard time recently. God bless us all.

  • this is just unbelievable...

  • Feel bad hitting the "like" button due to the content, but thanks for an amazing video of all the area, all I could do is sit there and think... WOW!

  • @thelxtlan u are a damn idiot! God don't like ugly and He is going to punish u!!

  • @Thelxtlan this isn't somthing to try and be funny about 300 people have died and about 425 are still missing so just shut your frickin mouth and be appreciative of what didn't happen to you.

  • My sisters house was brick and it got wiped out all the way down to the foundation. Your not afe from an F-5 anywhere except underground.

  • This is just sad. I live in Alabama. Everything is so sad. My friends sister died and went to school at Alabama.

  • God is punishing Alabama. lol

  • @TheIxtlan laugh out loud??? This is your response. You Sir have a sick mind if this is what elicits a laugh out of you. I do believe in Karma and it is only a bitch to those who are themselves a bitch.

  • Oh my god....… i thought i only saw things like this in movies but seeing it in this video its really sad. Im from Texas and people complain because of the hail damage, its stupid that they do that cuz they havent gone through an actual tornado like Alabama.

  • I am always curious about one thing in tornadoes: do brick houses hold on better than wood houses? Do well constructed brick and mortar constructions do better to withstand the demolishing effect of a twister, than those built of wood? Can people survive better inside a brick construction than that of a wooden one? If anybody has an answer for this, would appreciate very much to let me know. Thanks.

  • @otirudam Im not sure about very old houses but in houses built these days, most are framed with wood and then siding, stucco or brick is added to the exterior. I would say that brick is much stronger than siding and probably a good bit stronger than stucco. In south Florida, exterior walls are framed with concrete block in order to withstand hurricanes. I would say that is the strongest way to build a house. Concrete block houses could probably withstand much more and any of the above.

  • @gregalabama TOrnadoes arent prejiduce, if its coming for your house your house is gone. its not a matter of how strong it is, its a matter of how close that tornado is and how fast its going

  • @otirudam Homes are built air tight these days are prone to pressure implosion from the immence pressures involved in a tornado.Years ago people would open their windows and doors to let the pressure equalize, but as of late, authorities say not to now.Brick, block, wood, and homes with siding are just as likely to be damaged from these severe storms. Some builders are now framing homes with steel and optional exterior materials, but 2 or 300 mph winds are hard to withstand.Underground is still best

  • @otirudam obviously brick is slightly stronger but in a tornado of this size it really doesnt matter underground is best

  • @otirudam

Good question. Always wonder the same thing too.

  • @otirudam

Good question. Always wonder the same thing too.

  • @otirudam I have lived in tuscaloosa my whole life, and been working ground zero since the tornado came through..... all I can say is most wooden homes that were in the path of this tornado is gone, and brick homes are a pile of rubble. AT 1:12 in the video the helicopter is directly over some brick housings, and at 4:23 are some 2 story brick apartments that I was working first hand. So to answer your question I'd say the best place to be is a home built underground :-)

  • @JSimm79 thank u for ur kind answer. So to settle this question about what is better to build to withstand tornados, and survive them, do u think is rigth to assert that very well built brick and concrete (probably reinforced) houses with a strong brick basement would definately give people better chances of holding to their properties and possesions, and have the chance of staying alive after the twister is gone? But then the question arises, why so many houses in USA are made of wood?

  • @otirudam Yes, a brick home is stronger than one made of wood only.

  • @otirudam With a storm that strong, it doesn't matter what a building (that includes homes) is made of, as you can see by the footage. :(

  • I am leaving from Indiana on wedsnday to help with the clean up process praying for all the familys

  • On a different note, the world news is reporting that Osama Bin Laden HAS BEEN KILLED !!

  • ower town is now shit.

  • I am not saying that there isnt a religious message here folks. I have seen many photos and videos of the damage in Alabama where people had crosses in their yards before this monster hit and the houses are gone or reduced to rubble yet the crosses are still standing. Many of you missed understood my point. My point is everytime we have a natural disaster in this country, the religious fanatics start with their END OF TIME campaigns.

  • im hoping the red int he road at :19 seconds isn't blood...

  • Comment removed

  • @x3mjp I am a truck driver that has both delivered and picked up loads in this area and if I am not badly mistaken there is a printing facility or a paint manufacturer in that area so its most likely INK from one of the large drums or its red paint.

  • This same system came through our area, but luckily our area didn't have any damage like this. My heart really goes out to the people of Tuscaloosa and the surrounding areas.

It doesn't pay to piss of Mother Nature....

  • Im in Walker County, AL and I've wanted to move out of state since I was 15 but after seeing the way Alabamians pull together to help and comfort one another I now realize I could never leave such a wonderful state thats full of such caring people.

  • I hope all is found and us Americans help out better than we did Katrina Carlos from new York city

  • To All Bible Thumpers.... I have heard so many of you say ITS THE END OF THE WORLD TIME or THE END IS NEAR... This has nothing to do with the end of time. Dont get me wrong, EVERYONE is entitled to their beliefs and their religion, I have no problem with that however you need to understand this is very common. It is very Simular to the April 3rd-4th 1974 Super Out Break. Everyone was saying the same thing. Its 47 yrs later and we are still here.

  • @MrRadar1967 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, "What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created. 2 Peter: 3 - 4.

  • @MrRadar1967 Dude, Did the Tsunamis happen back then too? Did the Earthquakes going on everywhere? Were there wars and rumors of wars (going on ALL OVER the middle east) The bible predicted that Israel would become a country again, and many scoffed at that, but in 47, it happened. Now, she is surrounded by her enemies, the outcome of who will be in charge is in doubt, and if the right muslim extremists get in power, Israel will be attacked, as the Bible says, and then....you might change ur mind

  • @Patferr I DO NOT recall the bible predicting the Earthquake/Tsunamis in Japan. Nor do I recall the bible predicting Massive Tornadoes to ravage the South. All I am saying is that there is a SCIENTIFIC fact to this that no one understands. This has nothing to do with muslim extremists. You are going completely off of the subject. This is Mother Nature. Now that we have a normal balance in our transition from winter to spring (something we havent had in 20 yrs) everyone wants 2 freak out about it

  • @MrRadar1967 MOTHER NATURE? lol...mother nature is the left wing's answer to GOD. I know you seem ignorant of the bible, which is fine. Educate yourself. Read Matthew 24 where it talks about earthquakes and famines, and read in Mark 13 where it mentions the same things.

Scientific FACT and many scientists agree that whoever wound this "clock" (clock being this solar system, and how things work, revolve, rotate etc) doesn't come back and re-wind it back up, then the system is going to fail soon

  • Just think ladies and gentlemen, TORNADO season has just begun.. Just in April of this year alone over 800 Tornadoes have been confirmed. 600 in just this last 2 weeks. Unusual? No.. Not really. This is actually a normal transition from Winter to Spring. We just havent had this conversion in 15-20 yrs so we have forgotten what its like. What I find interesting is all of the houses with crosses in the yards. The houses are gone but the crosses remain. Makes ya think alittle don't it.

  • oh...this movie makes me sad. God bless US. from japan

  • God hates Alabama

  • @Heavenlyforever God Hates No one it is only you. So i suggest read your bible for once so you can get a clue of how god feels about all people. GOD BLESS ;)

  • insane! the path is incredible, its unreal how it stayed on the ground so long.

    looks like a weapon.

  • @csjafi Tri-State Tornado stayed on the ground from Missouri through Illinois and disipated finally in Indiana. What is intriguing about the Tri-State Tornado is the fact that it stayed at EF-5 status for the entire time. 605 lost their lives. 40% of the casualties were school children due to the timing that it hit in some areas. When school was let out.

  • @MrRadar1967 I Have To Disagree The Official Information Regarding The TRI STATE Event Records That The Tornado Was Likely To Have Sustained F3 Status Briefly While 90 % Of The Tornados Path Was A Strong F2 Three Quater Mile Wide Tornado

  • @TheChazxxx I did some re-researching on the Tri-State Tornado after reading your response. Google Tri State Tornado and go to the NOAA page. 4th link down. Very informative.

  • @TheChazxxx Date: 03/27/1925, Place: MO, IL, IN. Time: Official touch down at 13:01 3 miles NNW of Ellington, Missouri, 16:30 PM tornado dissipated about 3 miles SW of Petersburg, Indiana, On the ground for a consecutive 219 miles, F5 tornado on the Fujita Scale, with winds perhaps in excess of 300 mph, 695 deaths—a record for a single tornado, 234 deaths in Murphysboro—a record for a single community from such a disaster.. By the time it hit Princeton, IN. They didnt know what it was.

  • whats the status report on deaths and injuries?

  • @jjmusic4 From what I understand 308 in 6 states with Alabama having the highest count in fatalities

  • My thoughts and prayers to everybody down there. May God bless you and watch over you. Please read Matthew chapter 28, it has helped me in times of heartache.

  • Man thats wild......it looks like a war zone down there.

And that helicopter sounds like a Bell 407

  • Time legend: 0:15 - 35th St West 0:50 - I-359 & 31st St bridge 1:00 - Greensboro Ave 1:15 - 10th Ave 1:27 - Charleston Square Apartments 1:55 - Hargrove Rd 2:23 - Forest Lake 2:40 - 15th St 3:00 - McFarland Blvd 3:05 - Wood Square Shopping Center 3:13 - 13th St 3:45 - Kicker Rd/19th Ave 3:55 - University Blvd East (Alberta City)
  • @atlmartinb thanks for the useful info

  • Hang in there it is U.S.A.

  • What's going on in the world? Earthquake, Tsunami and Tornado....

So many people have lost their lives by the natural disaster. We Japanese appreciate very much for USA supporting us to find victims, fix the infrastructure, bring food and required items to evacuated area, and etc. I just pray for USA and my mind is with you. From Nagasaki, Japan

  • @nebosuke6969 Thank You for the prayers, check out Matthew Chapter 24, This could also be a small part of the seven thunders as seen in the Revelation to John chapter 10, my guess is the seven thunders are weather disasters.

  • @nebosuke6969 In b4 the 100th reply saying "HAARP"

  • @nebosuke6969

USA and Japan are greedy countries and take from the third world poor and thus now pay the price from karma to see how it feels.

  • @nebosuke6969 sorry to say this, but this is only the beginning. You haven't seen anything yet. Myself and hundreds of thousands of others have been trying to warn others that the end is very close, but they're too busy keeping their blinders on and concentrating on what's right in front of them instead of realizing the big picture. Good luck nebosuke, don't say I didn't warn you

  • @nebosuke6969 Mother nature and the Earth is sick and tired of us hurting her with our pollution and other mindless things. This is her revenge.

  • Even with ALL they've been through- Life goes on. Crazy amount of destruction! :(

  • damn nature you scary!

  • This is disaster is punishment from God our Father in Heaven. Judgment Day begins May 21, 2011.

God will punish the world May 21 next month because the world have become so greedy. We have lust for the pleasure f things and pleasure of flesh and material things.

  • @TheIxtlan Natural disasters have been happening since the beginning of time. So, to use such a tragic event to spout your wacko religious views is simply WRONG and a SIN of major proportions. Plus, I noticed that you did have a single word of sympathy for the the tens of thousands of victims - many of whom are Christians and believers. So please - take you hate filled EVIL gloom and doom BS elsewhere. You obviously missed out on the teachings of Jesus. Unbelievable that you would post such BS.

  • @iriewaregl AMEN!!!!

  • @TheIxtlan the Holy Bible say that not even Jesus knows the date of judgement day.. So i am interested to no how you got the date May 21 2011? And i no this because i am a christian who has read the Bible.. Please tell me how u come up with this specific date?

  • @nikkiepic1 its was on the news on the television and you can google it in the internet. Just google it and type the month, day, year.

  • @TheIxtlan you are a complete idiot. This has nothing to do with God , there are storms all over the planet this one happened to be on a huge scale.

  • It is difficult to say what the heart feels when seeing such devastation. My prayers are with you as you put your lives back together and rebuild. Your community will be stronger. I am writing from the devastation in Apison, TN and understand what you're going through.

  • this is crazy i have never seen so much damage done to one city my heart and prayes gos out to everyone in alabama from Puerto Rico

  • @boricuatodabone God Bless you from Alabama!

  • Unbelievable that more people weren't killed...such a terrible sight, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  • I'm a firefighter from about 50 mile from T town. My county got hit by 2 or 3 tornadoes the same evening. Reality of life strikes when the first scene you arrive on has 6 dead, two are a mother holding an infant. And they're scattered how far. Makes your heart ache. My heart goes out to anyone who was hit, or has realatives that have been hit.

  • How many square miles were destroyed? OMG!

  • the big square building with the wine bottle shaped pool in the middle. what is or maybe i should say what was that?

  • @classictoyspaper Looked it up on google maps and went to the street level view to read the sign. Charleston Square apartments. Sad to see the before and after judging by their web site pictures...

  • im prayng for allthe families that lost a loved one and the ones thatwere injured

  • I live in tn but visit Tuscaloosa all the time for my crimson tide. I was actually just there for the A-day game. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people who lost loved ones. Roll Tide Roll!

  • hahahahaaha

  • The victims, ur in my prayers. :(. From Canada.

  • :50 is I359

    2:40 is 15th street

    3:00 is Mcfarland blvd

3:56 is University blvd and Alberta baptist church

4:10 was my apartment and the house that I was under before it was sucked off of me and 4 others, all untouched and ok. Less than 50ft from the dead center of the tornado.

  • @1:02.. It's my friends house. Luckily she and her family is all right.

  • @TayomeChan 1:20*, not 1:02. My bad!

  • 8 mins + of total destruction.... my prayers to the family and freinds that has been through this ...

  • Godspeed on the recovery.

  • oh god

  • omg

  • wow it took out a Train Bridge, Thats some tornado

  • OMG THIS VIDEO IS INSANE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT..

  • Does anyone think we won't be able to rebuild as well as the Japanese will? We are so fucked as a Country.

  • unreal.....our thoughts and prayers are with you in new york...

  • @duffmann2000 thank you and everyone else that has commented as well. We're leaving out from the Hawg Shop tomorrow with our chain saws and try to help out.

  • @gregalabama hey greg....noticed your a ron paul fan....not many around in alabama....anyways...thx for the upload i just got power on today and havent really seen anything of whats goin on...i work in north bham off vanderbilt.....i watched it go by and didnt even know it until i saw the vid of how it really hit bham....so unreal....anyways i only made one vid...check it out...im sure youll find it interesting

  • oh God...this reminds me about Greensburg,Ks

  • i'm sorry for everyone's loss. either material or family and friends...godspeed to all of you.

  • The distance I gather that helicopter traveled in the 4 part video is somewhere in the neighborhood of about 50 to 60 miles

  • Cullman, Cordova, and Pleasant Grove are all like this to. (correct me if I'm wrong) Have a lot of friends who lived in Tuscaloosa. One of which who was spared lived right behind the University Mall! Glad I was spared, and we just got power. At least that's the least of my worries.

  • @TheRyyk no your right....pratt city is also like this....fultondale got hit but not nearly this hard....i was in north bham on vanderbilt rd when it happened ....i saw it go by and didnt even know it was a tornado it was so massive.....it was the craziest thing.....then it got real quiet and then i started seein debris gettin thrown around...it must have been the outer edge of it or something....

  • How r u blaming tht??

  • This is completely surreal. I can't even process it. It's like something from a nightmare.

  • My goodness the destruction seems to go on forever. I have never known a tornado to be so horrible.

  • Expect more devastation. Whole human race will be reduced to very basic necessities. We will have to walk or ride horses once again. If you do not have wisdom learn that from Asians of thousands years of history who do not invade the whole world like Americans who have only 200 years of bloody, bloody evil history. Learn to respect the mother earth and nature. Go back to Native Indians who you invaded and destroyed get pardoned and learn about univwerse. They know better than stupid scientists.

  • OMG!!!!!! i was there exactly one day before that happend on a band trip with my freinds!!!!! and we were next to the now demolished mall and at that plaza that i cant even figure it out where it is its so demolished!!!!!!

  • and if i lived in the US down near this place..i would so volunteer...fuck ..

  • @delaney12 We in Tuscaloosa appreciate your sentiments nonetheless. Thankfully almost all able-bodied people in town have been volunteering in droves, so we are not short on helping hands. If you can, though, donations (monetary or otherwise) are what is needed now - you can do so at redcross.org. And spreading the word; telling others you know so they, too, can donate will help us a lot as well. Thank you for your sympathy...

  • i cannnnot believe the length of this tornado...it must have just went on forever..im from toronto...so ive never had this ahpen to me...i feel so terrible for these ppl that live here...we heard it was a mile long and it went on for like 218miles...thats incredible...but very very sad..R.I.P ...our thoughts and prayers are with up here in canada

  • These devastations are inevitable. Because human values prevailed for thousands of years are laughed at sacarstically and devil worshippers like Madonna, Michael J, Gaga, Becham and all evil celebrities are worshipped. Nothing to surprise when a scoolboy bringing a gun to school and stooting at fellow students and teachers. Because they see violent movies. Human wisdom is looked down and the stupit idots called "Scientists" made to accept even at court of law. Stupid Western science destroyed

  • @TheKalidindi These devastations are inevitable, because we live on a planet that has NATURE on it. These natural occurances happen and have happened for as long as the EARTH has been spinning. For you to blame these natural occurances on human's behavior to punish them because their lives are not JUST LIKE YOURS is blasphemy. I pray that the good people of Alabama see right through your ignorance and forgive you for being so judgemental during this difficult time.
