  • get rid of that fast shit in the backround..

  • Love dub be good to me samples on the breakdown. Just picked up a monotribe today, overpriced but it is a great thing.

  • Congrats somebody using these machines to thier potential. They have limits and I'm not keen on the cheap sounding output stage of these machines, gives a metallic sound to everything, bit you might like that? But the Os is rock solid and they are so inuative

  • Impressive man! I like how everything is timed properly and the vocal samples are in sync with your beat.. watched a couple other videos with vocal samples that weren't synced properly and it really killed the song :S

  • Impressive stuff mate!!! Watched part 2 aswell. A great vid showing the ESX as a very cool rmx machine.

    Class!

  • Brilliant, dude!

  • Damn, that's awesome! :)

  • Would you recommend having a drum machine as well as an ESX, or can it stand alone fairly well?

  • @gxddxmnxt its ok as a drum machine....but you cant beat having a real drum machine aswell!

  • @gxddxmnxt I have an ESX and it is a great stand alone, however there is something thats making me consider buying a drum machine to go with it.

  • worrrd the sequencer and the Vac tubes alone makes this a must have.

  • nice job!

  • This is how every sequencer in the world should work.

I've now got to trade in my £1500 Yamaha Motif XS as it would take ages to do the equivalent of this!

  • I have motif xs6 and now I need to have electribe ... I can't wait anymore to use it both

  • Hi - Only two keyboard parts on the Electribe tho... can be limiting!

  • @xesionprince - you ever considered the Akai MPC range of sequencers? Same sort of loop and mute functioanality.

  • tt bien

  • nice mix

    Peace

  • hey i use the esx on my stuff, check out what u can do with esx here........

    myspace dot come slash characterchaos

  • really creative, nice!

  • Sorry Paul, I was commenting about TheBoyAtmospheric. I'm sure your stuff is great too! :)

  • possibly - esx is not my main thing tho. this mix was a bit of a one off for my girlfriends party. I enjoyed making it tho!

  • just checked out your myspace :D pretty amazing compositions on there! made on the esx?

  • thanks for checking my myspace out - those tunes are made with a lot more hardware than the esx alone. I don't use any software synths or sequencers in my set-up though!

  • I just check out your vid - I really like your work also. Do you have a myspace, or any other tunes on youtube?

  • my myspace is the usual myspace/lylatcore :) alot of my older gameboy tunes on there except lavender and requiem which are korg ds-10 and emx :) not had my emx long but got alot of overdue patterns to wack on youtube :D glad you liked them :)

  • still got stock samples? Is there anyway to put new samples on without a SmartMedia card? I also have no idea how to record stretch samples, they never come out right , any advice bro?

    Sick jam though bug ups

  • as Leisure Century says, sample using the audio ins!

  • yea i know about that but im running out of memory. I meant is there anyway to put samples on the ESX from a computer without one of those memory cards? The only program i have for the ESX requires those damn SmartMedias which you can't even buy in stores anymore

  • smartmedia only as far as im aware.

    head over to ebay!

  • Not entirely sure - I only have the esx. Obviously you'd get midi sync tempo and play/stop controls. They might even transmit pattern changes as program change messages?

Thats about all you would need anyway to use the two together.

  • also........LOL are those vocal samples from an SOS band "just be good to me" remix?

  • Lindy Layton & Beats International (aka Fatboy Slim) - Dub be good to me.

  • ha!...Nice.

    thanks

  • Nice sample flippage!

    good tune as well.

    5 stars for creativity.

  • Good work man! You just inspired me to get off the laptop and have a little play on my ESX, thanks!

  • Cheers - Ditch the laptop - hardware all the way!

  • Superb! You the man! You convinced me to get one!

  • that s good

  • are you drinking red or white wine or rose or what?

  • cant remember - I'll gannet anything!

  • FANTASTIC. Korg should endorse this rather than some of the other shite they do that just confuses people and makes the thing sound crap. Are the samples you've used here loaded on a smart card or coming in through MIDI? I haven't got one yet, but I'd prefer to just load my samples into it if I did.

  • Thanks for the comments! Feel free to bring it to Korgs attention!

Re samples, yeah I just fed them in via the smart card. Its amazing how far 32mb on the SX can go!

  • Great help mate, cheers.. you've sold me on it. The one doubt I had was the memory.. people seem to say it's a handicap unless feeding it direct from a program, looking at what you've done here though on a 32mb it's great.

  • this is stereo! how is that done..

  • Hi - not sure what part of the process you are talking about but..... The electribe sx allows you to pan your mono samples into stereo, or even modulate the panning for funky sweeping pan effects. I then recorded the performance from the stereo output of the electribe sx and recorded line -in stereo to my laptop, then sync'd up the .wav to the video in video edfiting software. Simples!

  • Amazing dude, inspiring too, i'm getting my esx at the weekend, hearing this has got me even more hyped! Well done!

  • That is an ace demo of what that box of tricks can do. Deftly done :)

  • YAY! Wish you didn't have to split it!!
