Dad was a pilot and he is gone now but he left us 7 kids with all pictures from China and then when war ended he flew an A-26 from China all the way to Germany and then walked away from it all. He loved the Mitchell but he said he was head over heals with the A-26 :)
yeah i think i know more about world war II than any other war. well that is so cool that his mission made print. my gradpa is the luckiest man i know the one time that his plane was shot down he was grounded from that mission. Only one man survived the crash with no injuries and it was the man who took my grandpa's place for the mission.
yeah if your interested my dad wrote some articals on the internet about grandpa you should check it out. look up ezine articals for richard sizemore. Man i swear my family is burried with history and roots.
hey my grandpa flew one of these two he was the pilot of the "lady Godiva" i think he was in the same squadron as ur grandpa but right after the war my grandpa died of a heartattack so i never knew him but i have all of his meadals plz comment back on me ok
well i'm sure your proud of your grandpa. It's amazing how much luck and skill that the soldiers of that era had. i think it was the 501st squadron. i love listening to all of my grandpa's stories of all of the close calls and exciting missions. i'm really sorry that you don't have your grandpa around, but i hope that his memories live on.
yeah im really proud of him and yea it is amazing how much luck and skill they had oh theres this one mission he did it was in the 1940's paper and he took over a japanese carrier and used it as a hospital for the wounded it wuz pretty cool and he captured a japanese zero it sounded like he had fun lol well its ok that i dont have him i just wish that i would of meet him before he died
Shyloh19, you might be interested in the book "We Band of Brothers" by R.E. "Peppy" Blount. He was a B-25 strafer pilot in the 345thBG about the same time as your Grandfather. He flew an aircraft named "Touch 'O Texas"
I have heard of that book, but i haven't read it yet. I know that my grandpa has a copy of it and it is his favorite book. I will deffinatly have to take your advice.
The 345th BG? I think they lost the B-25's Hell's Fire and Mexican Spitfire on the same day to zeroes in New Guinea back in 1943.
