this episode is a homage to jack kirby. Thor was drawn by him, and so, there are some thor references in this episode. (notice the warrior with captain americas -triangular- shield. a reference to another character jack kirby had drawn).

I love this episode, but I think the ending was a little rushed. In the comic there was a little more time for reflection at the end and that had quite an impact overall. It was just Don a little more solemn and isolating himself to read the paper, but you really felt the message pull through.

great episode its a stand alone one.stand alone episodes are nice as they offer a break from the general plot i think there definatly essential to any series,especially cartoon.tmnt have got quite a few stand alone episodes for example nano,garbage man ect there important even if ppl dont think so.

Actually episodes like this, "Nano", and "Garbageman" are not important at all. The main plot goes until season 3, I think. Seasons after that are complete "fillers". "Notes fom the Underground" are filers as well.

I think the stand-alone-episodes' main role is to help establish character. While they play no role in the plot itself they allow you more chance to get to know the characters, their feelings, etc.
