It's not that! On a real track your gonna feal G Force and your survival instict will take over, you get scared, brake earlier and go slower than is possible. That's what makes race drivers race drivers! They've learnt to overcome that and trust the car.

On a game you don't have the same things effecting performance. It's shocking just how different it is!

It doesn't take away from the realism if you don't use it. You're not forced to. I don't use it and I find it being there takes nothing away from the 'realistic' experience.

The whole idea of it being there, along with all the assists, is to make the game more accessible to all types of players.

Eg if you were into a different game altogether, say, an FPS, the assists allow you to jump into fm3, start playing straight away and not get massively punished for having no experience.

The actual race drivers do get similar lap times in the game as compared to real life though. Thats amazing. Think about, the Nurburgring has 100 corners, if the game was off half a second on each corner, your time would be almost a minute off. Thats all pretty amazing, but the game and a wheel with 6spd and clutch, and its like you can drive all those cars.

I have much experience racing real cars. You don't brake going round a corner in the main because it unsettles the car, this effect is fairly accurately portrayed in Shift, not in Forza.

I guess its your opinion. From what I hear the graphic display is actually quite impressive on NFS...so I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about. Forza is all about the physics engine...and they have been doing it a lot longer than EA has...the only reason EA made the game is to compete with simulator race games that are actually good

You are wrong about the physics though, EA didn't make the physics in Shift, they used Slightly Mad Studios. The UK developers there have more experience than Microsoft and their game engine is superior. I have very little brand loyalty, I just enjoy racing games.

ive been playing racing games since i started playing games (about 15 years), and shift was one of the worst games i have ever tried. its handling is terrible. there is far too much bounce, the balance is terrible, and EVERY car swings its tail wide. an 800hp viper on stock tires is easier to drive than a race modded audi TT, and its like the AI use a different physics engine.

Well that's just not true. I have both games and NFS gets played more which surprised me. I suspect most people saying bad things about it have either never played it or find it too difficult, fair enough.

I usually race sims with a G25 wheel on the PC, clutch and all, but if i'm using a gamepad on an xbox, Shift is the one that delivers.

They didn't spend money on racing drivers with shift, instead they gave away a BMW M3 at the launch. I think that's a much better idea.

Yeah but she was going at like 70 mph on the demo track, i can get about 130-135 most the way round in the JCW mini. But yeah forza 3 is going to be a great game, and to the person who says nfs shift is more realistic than forza 3 then you obviously havent played any forza let alone the forza 3 demo because i've played both an forza is much more realistic then shift. Forza is done by tyre grip, weight, Aerodynamics and allsorts whereas nfs is done by weight and horsepower

I'm sure most Forza 2 players, including myself, can do 7 minutes plus on a similarly spec-ed car like the R8 on the nurburgring easily with those assists on.

The key is to be consistent and not slam on and off the brakes and the throttle. And most importantly, stay off the grass and don't crash!

Meh, I was hoping Forza 3 would be awesome but playing the demo with a gamepad is like piloting a dog on a skateboard. Need for Speed Shift rips it apart on the handling front no question.

Forza has as much detail as a driving sim, yet it drives like an arcade racer. NFSS drives more like a sim but has some arcade features.

If you're a kid who does all their driving on an xbox then get Forza 3 but If you like driving real cars, get NFSS for your xbox.

At the point in which this was filmed the track was fully plotted( a process which is done month if not years before it appears in any playable form) and fully rendered. This is how it will appear in the final game as the game is now finished and in the process of final production and on the way to the shops.

Also how would you know if it was realistic or not basing your oppinion soley on the previous games youve played.
