  • I drive a 05 with the v6 vortec and for stock its got good take off but it holds good at high speeds higest I got mine was 95

  • The trailblazer is by far not a fast truck.... I remember when I first got my license

  • @bdratcliffe Haters Gonna Hate!!! Your absolutely right this truck is meant for towing not for "going fast". If you wanted to go fast go invest in a muscle car! This 4.2 inline motor smokes any other full size SUV out there today and with 295 Hp combined with the g force chip of 60 extra hp that's 355hp in a 6 cylinder car! So next time think before you speak because i would smoke your pussy ass. You probably go 10 over the speed limit and think your a bad ass.Do us a favor and shut the fuck up

  • @WatchOutFourMe Do you really think a chip will give a TB 60 more HP. You don't no much about an engine. Supercharge, turbo or nitro yes. A chip no. The cams want allow that much air to go into the engine.

  • @blackericdenice If you go all motor, you will have to change cams and reprogram the computer and you may have to raise the compression. The stock cams are design to flow not much over than 290hp. To flow 355, you'll need to turn 7000 rpm if you keep the stock 10 to 1 compression.

  • Intake headers exhaust and 4.10 or higher gears

  • never gun ur truck with an cold engine

  • About 150,000+

  • how many miles does your trailblazer have? just curious

  • I never knew this was a straight 6 until a minute ago. My mom's had this for quite a few years, and I thought 4200 was a little smaller than the 4.3 or something.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors i didnt know either. sounds pretty beefy for an I6 dosent it. technically it is smaller than a 4.3 because the block is long, seems like it 3 feet lol. it takes 7 quarts of oil so if u go full synthetic u can probably guess its expensive. thats the way i went in my envoy, it helps the engine life even though they are built very well to begin with. the envoy even though has the same engine has 11 more hp than the TB. dont know y or if it even makes a difference but runs great.

  • @GMCman82 I think my dad's Silverado is quite a bit less oil than the TrailBlazer. It does cost quite a bit for changing oil.

  • @GMCman82 A lot more oil than my dad's 6.0 Silverado.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors ya ur dads 6.0 takes 5 or 51/2 quarts i think. if u get an oil change place to change ur trailblazer or envoys oil with full synthetic and its the I6 its gonna cost you $60-$65.00 then they will try to sell u a coolant flush and something else unnecessary for an additional $60 each but u get the oil change free so a $60 oil change will cost $120. i however didnt fall for it. if i changed it myself i would only save about $15. but i got 7,000mi out of my last change, still clean

  • @GMCman82 My dad's a pussy and won't do anything to their vehicles himself, he only does that with the tractors for some reason. We could be saving a lot of money if he wasn't so damn worried about not doing something right, or having his truck checked for other problems.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors hes just being careful.i have a tractor too and of course if thats all you have worked on its easy to You that is, so he probably only has experience with tractors. i dont blame him really seeing if u really have one vehicle to take to work and you mess something up, you better fix it or you miss. the only thing is the oil plug and filter which you only put in until it tightens up then a half turn to hold it. i was the same way as him but my late-stepdad taught me how.

  • @GMCman82 true, I want to be able to do everything for myself instead of bending over, though. I'll ask our mechanic if I can work for him.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors thats a good idea, you never know when you will need those skills. always best to be prepared.

  • @GMCman82 Thanks for all your help.

  • @HedgehogOutdoors no problem

  • Yeah i was handed down this car after getting my license with 130k miles and i drove it like a racecar and needed to replace tranny in 3 months lol. The transmission on these cant handle the high rpm shifts but it will last very long if you dont beat on it

  • what would happen if I were to put it in 4 wheel drive low while i shift from D. to 1 2 or 3?

  • @simulation17 i have an 06 trailbalzer ls with a 4.2 vortec straight 6 and i have done it

you go from 0 - 60 in seconds it is so quick

it's a great way to bring out the real power of the 4.2 xD

just don't run it like that full time because that is not what the tranni is made for

    have fun :)

  • They should have gave it a 5 speed, probably would be faster and more efficient

  • I love my vortec 4200. Chevy is the way to go. there : realiable, nice, affordable, hardnosed fucking vehicles.

  • My Friend i Believe The Video Reply i Made can help you, this is way faster than yours and the other one in the video reply...PM me if ya need a little more help, this is a Trailblazer

  • My Friend i Believe The Video Reply i Made can help you, this is way faster than yours and the other one in the video reply...PM me if ya need a little more help, this is a b

  • i can see the gas gauge going down

  • let it warm up first thats crazy oil wasnt even warm

  • Yea i have a suggestion...buy a ford....your welcome in advance!

  • im sure its been said, but buy a trailblazer ss

  • The 4200 is a great motor, but they need to drop a 5 or 6-speed auto in it. The gearing really slows down the truck

  • modify the computer?

  • lol dang its like a Z06... Hittin 90 in 2nd gear!!!! lol

  • i think i fell asleep waiting on it to hit 105 lol

  • nice man cold engine not good for it though u should always let it warm up but that vortec really sounds nice

  • Like the vid but omg beatin up the truck the the temp guage was no where near normal operating temp....

  • @Rudeboi253 What's the most risk of running in low temps? Rings? Pistons? Gaskets?

  • Dam that's slow I can walk faster than that from 0 to 15 mph I will beat it

  • I'll also throw in a comment. Props to the 4.2. Me & the wifey bought a brand new TB in '02 when they first came out. It has over 150k on it now & it still hauls ass like it did the day we drove it home from the dealership. Off the line they are kinda doggy with the 3:42's but drop it at 55 & the sum bitch will set you back in the seat. Im pleased with it. This coming from a Ford/Dodge guy.

  • there powerful i mean look at the jeeps 3.7 liter v6 they push 210hp and the explorer 4.0 liter v6 they push 210 and yeah there pretty slow compared to these envoys and trailblazers

  • 2003 toyota 4 runner with a v8 would have been to 105 alot faster, but thats mainly because the gearing in them are for a fast take-off

  • of course they're faster. they have amazing gas pedals and brakes that make you go faster!

  • What a douch you are for leavin this comment. You do realize that the 4.2 in this TB is an i6 right? Not a v8... Ps toyota sucks balls

  • these 4200's are quick. do this:

    -tune up

    -clean tb

    -synthetic oil

    -pcm tune

    -intake exhaust

    -join trailvoydotcome

  • needs gears...4.11 or more

  • @hwhhww lower it too?

  • @hwhhww -new fuel filter

  • @hwhhww i love trailvoy.lol im on it too! nobody gives a shit but who cares.................

  • im not gonna lie all you people who say the 4200 vortec is slow it really isnt wow how many people me and my bro raced and yeah my envoy is really fast

  • Right on brother. My 04 tb has the 4200, for such a heavy truck its damn quick!

  • Who's gonna buy those instead of a Tahoe or Touareg? I'm not even touching a Japanese SUV,and if you wondering why,it's because all the Japanese cars looks like a "Round",the face is "Rounding down",it's not classic and "square" looking cars like the American.

Japanese SUVs are good in Japan, and in the other asian countries,in North America all the above stinks badly.

  • Most of the German SUVs are luxury and nice,ok,but Japanese?

When you're about to say "SUV" the word "Japanese" is forbidden.

It seems that you haven't see any American SUV with a stock V8 engine like the TB SS in action,or you are yet another idiot who lives in US and hate his own country's cars, and from what i seen in your profile, yes you are!

Seriously now,you don't want an SUV with something more than a LS2 V8 engine, because once you press the gas pedal, you are between Earth and Hell.

  • The engine on the 4.2 version actually sucks... It's slow as hell.

This truck is pure love with the 6.0lt V8 engine on the SS version.

  • its the most powerful 6 cylinder suv by the way

makes you think of how stupid that comment was, huh?

    its a 4.2l making 300hp......

  • Hey we are on the same side, chill out.

This car with this engine is slow compared to the SS version with the 6.0l V8 engine, and 300hp doesn't mean much things in a 6000lbs car.

This engine is one of the best engines out there (check an Ward's 10 Best Engines article),but this car deserves a genuine muscle car heart under the hood.

Next year i think i'm gonna get a TB with the 4.2 vortec, the SS version is rare here, but whatever, the 4.2 is fine for everyday use.

  • Aha, I own a 4.2 trailblazer and love it. It's extremely reliable and rugged. Yes, the engine is one of the best engines ever made. It actually sounds pretty nice up close too. But i actually think this SUV is fast. For 6000lbs, it is! My brother has a 3.0 v6 Accord which is obviously way lighter, and even he compliments on the speed and power. And the ride on these things, I love it. It's so smooth and you don't get that hard feeling when you go over bumps, its like a boat!

  • Oh yeah! Sweet ride!

Actually,yes... For such heavy car is pretty fast :P

  • the 2002-2006 push 275hp and the 2007-2009 push 285hp and for the v8s they push 300hp,

  • 2002- 270 HP

    2003-Most 2005's- 275 HP

    Some '05's-07- 291 HP

    2008-09- 285 HP

  • dude, thats like comparing a carbed nissan sentra to a carbed nova ss.... Of course the truck is pure love with a motor that is all aluminum and has like 390 horses, but the 4.2 is a great, dependable motor.

  • just saying it was on wards top 10 engines through 2001-2005.....it was in the ranking with BMW engines, audi engines, porsche engines

  • well at the time the bmw x5 engines were nothing to brag about....parents owned a 2001, and a 2003....now the newer ones, pops drives a 2008 4.8i x5, are way better than the older ones. less problems. But i wasnt saying they were better....more realiable....yes at the time. but of course its a simplier car. Also those are luxury SUV's not standard SUV's

  • well of course not of all engines.....but for SUV's

  • the engine in this car won best engine from 2001-2005....its a solid car

  • GREAT CAR.

  • now your just being stuborn you cant deny that in ww2 germany and japan were trying to take over the WORLD not just my country

  • well you do need acurate tests before you know somthing is true BECAUSE ITS PROOF the magazines hate american cars and they themself say its king. just because YOU think somthing doesnt mean its true, do your reasearch, its top speed out does its competition its been tested and cherokees are amazing they are cheap, have practical power, go anywhere, and are reliable. if you dont remember jeep helped save the world in world war 2 with out american engineered anything we would all be in camps

  • you already said that and the chevy corvette ZR1 is 100000 and goes over 200mph several magazines already tested it and its faster than a ferrari, lambo, and the porsche GT3 all costing much more. american cars kick ass.

  • In Brazil we just put a turbo. Easier and cheap way to go faster

  • A turbo isnt a cheap or easy way to go faster

  • i hate four speeds!!!

  • Damn do something with that transmission... Im sure you can tune the nice slow smooth shifting out of it. Probably chirp the tires with a good firm shift.

  • I have a 06 tb ls and on the highway I will get about 450-500 miles per tank. Towing a boat it drops to 300-350 miles per tank. Mine has more top end then that 1. I think they make a turbo charger manifold for the i6. Does anyone no for sure?

  • Comment removed

  • umm super charger we were thinking of the same thing for out 02 trail blazer

  • this engine should be in a small sporty rwd car, not a fucking heavy suv

  • HAHAHA i said the same thing in a nother video i agree thay would be bad ass in a small rwd car

  • REEEEEEEEEEEALLY tall gears.... reminds me of my grand prix, 50 mph in 1st....90 in 2nd gear...damn...

  • i think i saw the gas needle moving = )

  • what i did was a pcmforless tune, resonator delete, corsa exhaust, pulsar spark plugs and K&N Air and oil filter....then you can lift or lower your trailblazer if you want, also remove running boards if you have them, low profile tires...and remove the luggage rack

  • one thing you could do is add a k+n cold air intake, and delete the resonator from the exhaust path, that should let it breathe alot more.

  • Letting it warm up might add some power lol

  • dude u have no gas lol

  • wtf? were u going uphill?

  • seams pretty quik for a v6 suv from 1-50 mph, but bogs down once u hit about 60. Id say turbo it, v6 engines love turbos, especially straight 6's

  • this IS a straight six,

and nobody makes a turbo for it.

  • i think thats why he said "especially straight 6's"

    dipshit=P

  • "seams pretty quik for a v6 suv"

    dipshit=P

  • aha, i dont think he meant v6

i think he meant 6 cylinder

i do it all the time

im just so used to uses vsomething because thats what most engines are, just a habit

  • oh ok

  • Suggestion - Get a TBSS, like me :)

  • wats the fuel economy like. im torn between the gas guzzler and the underpowered one lol

  • trust me, the 4.2 is NOT underpowered

i have one, so trust me

this video doesnt do it justice

    its a monster xD

it really is not underpowered in the least bit though

  • i know wat u mean, get that pcm for less tune/exhaust/intake and they get pretty fast i think im going with the 4.2 09 being the last year :(

  • Haha these thing are VERY underpowered, my mother had one, with the 4.2 inline6, it was the short one, and that thing was soo weak it wouldent even power break on dirt!

  • Maybe the traction control was on.

  • I dint think it had traction control, idk why but the damn thing really never would spin a wheel, and sucked down some gas like their was no tomorrow, couldnt put just $10 dollars in had to put at least $20 in, if not you would be out in less than two hours of riding, that shit broke my wallet, not to mention you had use premimum which use to be nearly 5 bucks when i use to drive it, but thats all in the past tho lol

  • premimum we got a v8 TB use regular gas and get almost 400 highway on a tank

  • Damn i dont see how. Cause these things suck down gas.

  • any suv going to be hard on gas it mostly depends onthe driver

  • the TB is a 1,000 ponds more than the FX50 if you shave that much of the TB you would get much more mileage same thing with the v8 version the FX50 is more like a big sedan than an SUV

  • the v8 guzzles almost as bad as the I6 good Tq souds good to for stock but the I6 would have more potential to work with

  • True

  • for some reason i have always liked the sound of american I-6 engines better than v6s and some v8s.

  • i hae a truck like that one

  • can any one give me a link to where i can find out how to take off the govenor

  • ive had my 2002 traiblazer LS over 115

  • my 4.2 Vortec cuts off at 98MPH

  • hmm the 03 and 02 are basiclly the same

i bought my stock and all

and it get up there way faster than ur friends

  • its got a govenor

  • cold air intake, chip, paxton supercharger.

  • a good tune up works wonders

you need to make max stock horsepower

    before you go adding more

  • +1. I have a KN Intake 77 series for sale. Shoot me a message if your interested. I just need the thing out of the garage. I dont have my trailblazer anymore.

Check my videos to see what it sounds like. i thought it was badass...

  • For a 4200 or 5300?

  • Its for a 4200. Def let me know. I need to sell his thing. I dont have a TB and it is chillin in the garage haha

  • Is it the whole intake system or just the filter? And what kind of power gains we lookn at?

  • Chrome tube and everything. Should gain around 5-10hp

  • How much for it?

  • $170 shipped. Comes with everything and original box.

  • Intake, exhaust, and PCMFORLESS tune
