they are smart enough to operate gates, if the sea park actually connected to the ocean and they were free to get out and come back, that would be like some kind of fish for thicks employment, so maybe people would be ok with that.
That is so amazing. I was up north on the coast in West Australia on the beach with my dad & a shark was coming for us, by that stage we couldn't really do much...it moves 2 quick 2 outswim. This dolphin flew in and intercepted it and it went away. Life guards shut the beach down for the day and chased the shark off with their mini boats but i never forgot that. I was pretty young and my dad had already hit shore, the dolphin even got underneith me to keep me afloat and take me to shore. love em
these dolphins very likely came from Taiji Japan, where they were taken from their pod. The rest of the pod were sold to dolphin parks or slaughtered in the most cruel and horrific ways imaginable, the secret killing was exposed by the movie "The Cove", ...save the dolphins
There are no dolphins in the United States that have come from Taiji, nor have any dolphins been captured from the wild since the 1970's, due to the Marine Mammal Protection Act. In most facilities, the vast majority of the animals have been born at the facility. "The Cove" neglected to mention that.
these dolphins very likely came from taiji japan, where they were taken from their pod. the rest of the pod were sold to parks or slaughtered in the most cruel and horrific ways imaginable, the secret killing was exposed by the movie The Cove, save the dolphins
Yea they can. They built me a condo underwater. Well most of them were Mexican dolphins so i could have called immigration on those fucks. Anyway i only payed these bitches 1 fish a week.
does anyone know why they always use bottlenosed dolphins for these? I heard spinner dolphins are more athletic. is it because spinners are harder to train?
bottlenose dolphins are more hardy. spinners and spotted dolphins belong to the genus "stenella" and they are much more easily stressed out, because they are so high energy. there are only a few dolphins from the "stenella" genus that are currently surviving in captivity. I know of two, Harley (longsnouted spinner) and Moonshine (pantropical spotted) and they live in Sarasota at Mote Marine Laboratory.
dolphins have used elaborate communication for milions of years, their brain has more guri and sulci than the human one and we think we are smarter than them? heh
If their born in a zoo and grow up in it they no nothing about the outside of the sqaure they live in. If their brought in from the wild it's a diffrent story. I think these chaps would much rather be in their there getting caught in a Japanese wharf.
Yes, all very clever, but at the end of the day they are still dolphins doing tricks. They're still in captivity. And what's point, apart from silly entertainment?
Yes, but what about the ones in captivity that are used for kids with mental disorders? Do you think that is wrong to use those ones to help those kids? I think not. Most of them are very happy where they are, and they are treated to the best that their trainers can do. Not to mention they have an animal specialist there to treat the animal if it has problems.
These are not being used to treat children with mental disorders (a curious use of intelligent animals!) These are being used to do silly tricks to amuse dull-witted tourists.
As you can see, they could easily jump over the net and swim away, if they wanted.

"research facility" yeah right, teaching them a trick so they can sell them to water parks for $200,00 a pop, its bullshit.

Hard to imagine doing, what if in mid-session she chose to taks a long dive. I can't breathe underwater, you know. :-(
On a more serious note, their genes differ from our's by less than a few percent.. What if we were to swap a few of their genes with ours?
