  • The man who showed me Brand New can rot in hell but at the same time, thank you. So glad you're gone.

  • Really glad they grew out of their fucking awful Pop Punk roots into something more inventive.

  • Some men die under the mountain just looking for gold, Some die looking for a hand to hold.

  • @DeepSeaZebra This is my Status on Valentines Day

  • sometimes i go under my bed and pretend to be a carrot

  • I absolutley hated this song the first time i heard it, oh man how stupid I was =(

  • @fst96max I thought the same thing

  • 6 people hate their lives.

  • everyone was like wtf when it first came out. now everyone loves it

  • think something dark slipping down in my heart

  • i'd like some drugs served on a silver plate to help me get away.

  • who in their right mind, would dislike this?

  • can someone make a vid of "bed" plzzzz

  • I've listened to this song (and album) for 2 autumns and winters in a row now. Perfect for that time of year. One hell of a creepy song though.

  • i'm not a huge fan of brand new but this song is damn good

  • weird thing.. the guy who showed me this song is way not religious. this is one of his favorite bands..

  • @427ciara you dont have to be religious just have to know good music :D

  • @mariku9 yeah. i know. its just weird. if you knew this guy you would totally understand where im coming from

  • Ahhh.....aww man! I gotta start taking my pants off when I listen to Brand New....

  • @LostKeysOnARainyDay its easier just not to wear pants. you never know when brand new will pop up.

  • biggest. slap. in the face.

  • I was listening to this last night while watching black ops while on shrooms, shit was crazy, there's my awesome story

  • I never really gave this album a chance, but it definitely grows on you.

  • @PaulFuckinCarroll I really didn't think much of it at first, this was the only song I liked. I fucking love it now

  • wow this is brand new? sounds nothing like the band i know, wtf happened to em

  • @fst96max Its called change, my friend. If you listen their core never changes. Jesse Lacey has always been and still is brilliant. I agree, they changed a bit, but to me they sound more mature and less angry teenager.. I love all their music though. c: But I also know where you're coming from.

  • Anybody know any other artists that sound like this? I mean this album in particular. And I already listen to a shitload of modest mouse.

  • @Alexxx2292 I don't really know many artists that sound like Brand New (which is good), but you might like Brother, Sister by mewithoutYou. Both bands are very indie/alt rock-based post-hardcore with incredible lyrics and vocalists that carry the entire band.

  • Just listen to the fucking song, cockstains. Who gives a shit about your opinions?

  • @Firebirdshite good idea =)

  • Thumbs up if Brand New has been with, and/or brought you through many, many stages of your life.

  • @zrecer I listened to Okay I believe You on loop for an entire trip to Florida, while I was there, on my way back, and while my relationship fell apart and all the way until Vices where I kicked the bitch out of my memory.

  • I love this song so freaking much!

  • lol you people are such noobs. i listen to MM i do not hear them in this. Brand New is way darker than modest mouse.

  • fuckin awesome!!!!

  • @ohyeahoh159 No Doubt. I'd love to be backstage with this group. ...and what happens backstage, stays backstage. Hee Hee.

  • Love this song.... even if I still don't entirely know what it means..............

  • one year ago i was going to smoke weed and go to this party where there would be a bunch of drugs. about a week before the party i saw these guys Live and as they played this song i knew i would never do drugs because id rather be sober from anything so i could remember that day. and in my whole life that has been the best day in my life. so i THANK YOU BRAND NEW

  • modest mouse's music could never be this dreary. only similarity i hear are the vocals, which sound rediculously alike to my ear.. an it's only this fucking album two, his voice never sounded like that before.

  • @youknowyourrite1 you clearly never listened to Devil and God then, because whilst there was a lot more production on that album to effectively hide it, if you heard Jesse Lacey sing live or you heard a recording of him doing an accoustic of the song, he definitely had this stuff going on with his voice back then :)

  • this song always reminded me of modest mouse, not in a bad way but in a way that made this a pleasurable experience to see how brand new has grown into a very diverse and emotionally powerful band.

  • 6 people dont know what a good song is if it slapped em in the face

  • do they have annyy music videos out for this album yet?

  • I love the evolving style of Brand New, so damn unique and cool.

  • great song. i always look forward to the part at 1:48 haha it's so sweet.

  • two bands you need in 'B' of your ipod library:

    1: Bayside

    2: Brand New

  • @plus154 One of the best comments I've ever seen haha

  • @plus154 and balance and composure.

  • @plus154 couldnt agree more

  • @plus154 couldnt agree more

  • @plus154 3: Bright Eyes

  • I love pretty much every song I've heard from this band but this one speaks to me the most... Everytime I hear it I think of one of the people I love most in this world... He died May 4th, 2006 overseas in Iraq in the line of duty as a Marine. I never have been and never will be closer to anyone else in my family; the only individual I was closer to was my cat/best friend and he died a few months before the man that was a Marine did... Makes me cry whenever i hear it...

  • I've been listening to this song nonstop the past few days...I love it & brand new!

  • My favourite song, ever.

  • Mmm~ I love the Modest Mouse influence in this. And how Brand New changes with ever album, but never stops being absolutely amazing. Definitely one of my all time favorite bands.

  • sorry but this is just okay, i really enjoyed the first album of brand news and really liked the second but they sorta just drifted off. still love em though

  • @CommunityServesUs Ah how it brightens my day to see people making respectful critizism...thank you

  • @sinnedangel8027 thanks man

  • This song only has 4 dislikes for a reason(:

  • comparing modest mouse to brand new? WTF lol

  • @mistahanky1 Modest Mouse is an inspiration to Jesse Lacey... They aren't the same, but you can definitely hear the inspiration in this cd...

  • love how they make death seem fine and when in heaven watch them selves die loll u gone man when u die if your lucky maybe your soul mite stay somewer in the galaxy close to earth and u mite live another confused life with mixed emothions and feelings or you mite just have to start all over again :S which id preffer!!

  • Great song.

  • I love brand new....they have the simple but awesome progressions

  • god i wish he had married sherri.

  • I NEED A REPEAT BUTTON

  • considering they wrote their first album in high school... yeah. they're the shit. they've grown musically while having to deal with restraining record labels.

  • OHHH-YEAHHHHH

  • This doesnt sound like Brand New, this sounds like Cursive! I LOVE IT :D

  • I absolutely LOVE. Daisy's album art. it's just so simply amazing<3

  • I don't how or why but I feel like this band has changed my life.

  • @monkeychickenbeasty for the better, i assure you.

  • genre is a label by society, bands play there own music, cant be classified with anyone else just because it sounds the same

  • @Mike43D

That is ridiculous. Brand New have grown as a band; that much is true. But last time I checked they were still rock...

  • People who speak about how brand new should stick with in there genre, you should go work for a label company. Not that sticking with in a genre is bad, but there is nothing wrong with doing something new every album. Artist should play what they feel, at the end of the day it's all rock/blues anyways.

  • "Jesse is a genius" I agree, the guy is awesome. but this is a band, and its not only Jesse who writes all the lyrics.

  • @star0dreamer i agree, plus Jesse actually didn't write a lot of the songs on Daisy.

  • @star0dreamer

It is jesse who writes the lyrcis, btw

  • no, on daisy most of the songs were written by vince. but i know jesse still wrote a few. they're all good anyways

  • the amount of thought put into each song is phenomenal. jesse lacey is a genius.

  • I love how everyone is a musical genius on youtube.

STFU and listen to the song.

  • @BozourMinou ahah couldn't have said it better.

  • @BozourMinou Dude fuck you some of us are geniuses

  • @XendmustB2 here, here. <---- Genius.

  • @BozourMinou These guys are so good. I just found about this album I know late to the party). I did love their previous album and dragged 3 friends to their concert in SF at the Filmore. Great show. Such an under rated band.

  • @BozourMinou im no genius, but, obvious good music is obvious

  • brand new have gotten so boring. i reckon a lot of people just go with the generic grungey sound cos they liked the first 2 albums so much (cause i mean, devil and god had a similar sound and was nowt special either)

  • @jamieSB6

yeah... but the first two albums were compeltely different from the last two brand new made. the sounds and approaches are entirely different.

  • @exifide i agree that the sound and approaches to the second two albums are different but the old sound wasn't broke so why fix it? don't get me wrong, i think artists should embrace experimenting with their sound. but usually when artists go through this phase they stick within their own genre. i would describe the two most recent albums as a completely different style altogether. maybe they're feeling too old to be singing about failing relationships these days. i dunno.

  • @jamieSB6 true enough. that is a more than fair statement and i actually very much enjoy the approach they're heading now more than i do with their older genres of music. but i would like something a little softer- but hey, we can't always have what we want so we should just appreciate what we get.

  • it does sound like modest mouse

i came here to listen to brand new

and really only the vocals at the begining sound like modest mouse

  • brand new > modest mouse

  • at the bottom can have all my lubz <3 <3 <3 amg kittens

  • im a newly divorced 40 yr old that stumbled onto this tune. i like jazz and classical, slipknot ,gwar and icp(weird mix) but i heard this and it moved me. hauntingly thoughtfull!!!!

  • such an awsome Song <3

  • Don't compare Brand New to modest mouse. Totally different League.

  • Amazing song <3 just perfect.

  • Its not watch from heaven when i die, its, " Ill want some answers when i die."

  • they get better with every album. I hated them at first and now they are one of my favorite bands

  • yeah its weird that you do need to get used to it, didnt really like it at first except at the bottom, then more songs grew on me. Same thing kind of happened with the devil and god. Still think its their worst album, but atleast theyre trying to do something different.

  • THIS CD SUCKED.....

  • @montgomery4b ur mom sucked my cock last weekend.

  • @jt4life19 HAHAHAHAHAHA damn dude your a badass. new brand new sucks. get over it E-thug.

  • @montgomery4b hahaha wtf??? it took you four months to reply? faaaaail.

  • you mean... manchester orchestra kind of sounds like jesse lacey. ;)

  • @skuuishy i will eat the poo afterward ;)

  • his voice kinda sounds like manchester orchestra

  • kinda reminds me of lake of fire... good thing!

  • are u nuts, its a great cd

  • its a great album once you get used to it

  • why would you wanna get used to listenin to music to like it? that doesnt make sense.

  • Because at first I only liked one song in their whole entire album, and as I listened and read the lyrics, it sunk in more..so it does make sense

  • @montgomery4b that has gotta be the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life.

  • @bergcycles1 your a fuck.... lick ma cum

  • please do

  • Modest Mouse is Modest Mouse and Brand New is Brand New. Similar genres of music; completely NON-compareable. Both are good at what they do.

  • @exifide

Well it's not difficult to hear the influence on this track though...especially the vocals

  • @exifide ...they're extremely comparable. They're both good, but Brand New's new sound is very Modest Mouse-derived.

    Herp da derp.

  • Comment removed

  • @markfoybhoy if you dont freakin like it why did you even bother looking it up?

  • @markfoybhoy new shit

  • Calm down with the whole Modest Mouse thing. Go post on a Modest Mouse video. Noboby will argue when you say that Modest Mouse sounds like Modest Mouse.

  • @RyanofSLC No, they won't argue with the truth, but they might point out 1=1 and your comment would be entirely useless because despite something being itself being one of the most intriguing and fundamental philosophical debates, it's taken for granted by most people that something is itself.

  • I think we're missing the point, myself included, that seems to have never been clearly identified. The first 20 seconds of this song sounds just like something Modest Mouse would have released 10 years ago. No need to argue. For many people the guitar sound here, at least at the beginning, has become synonymous with Isaac Brock as he has used it as if it were his second voice many many times. I would like to think that Brand New recognized that in the creation of this song. It is a fine song.

  • @akom69

Oh my God, I totally thought it was Modest Mouse in the beginning too.

    Love both bands.

  • I think that both bands have evolved dramatically since their first albums. I think both bands are incredible, can we not agree on that at least?

  • Listen to Sad Sappy Sucker, then listen to Lonesome Crowded West, then listen to Moon and Antarctica, then listen to Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Honestly, Modest Mouse has done enough Evolving for twenty bands. And OK, I got out of hand for dissing Brand New, although I didn't start it(childish I know), but Modest Mouse shouldn't be hated on and they deserve alot more respect then what they are getting here.

  • honestly. I only like modest mouse's good news for people who like bad news. thats all. Every one of there cd's sounds exactly the same...it bores you. Brand New however changes ever cd. It makes the band awesome and unique. I have nothing against modest mouse. But Brand New is just better. Dont tell us to respect Modest Mouse when you started dissing Brand New from the start. Modest Mouse only has 3 mil sales in 18 years. Face it Brand New is bigger.

  • who cares how much money they've made..

You probably haven't listened too far into any modest mouse. They've progressed so much since their early years. Listen to Doin' the Cockroach off of Lonesome Crowded West and then listen to Missed the Boat off of We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Both very good songs, both very different style.

When it comes to being unique, Modest Mouse has all the bases covered.

    P.S. I love Brand New

  • he needs to pray then

  • This song is going to be in a movie. I just know it!

  • What movie would appropiatly fit it tho?

  • Not a clue. Just seems like one of those songs you could put in a movie. It's not a bad thing, idk why i got downed for it. Oh well.

  • yeah, maybe i could see it fitting into a movie very well. Maybe if the movie had a dark atmosphere, and kinda gloomy yet have a powerful message. so yeah i can see that :)

  • Exactly what i mean :)

  • I think it's about Jesse wanting someone close to him to show him a way out of the mess he's made. What sums it up well for me is, "Some men die under the mountain just looking for gold, Some die looking for a hand to hold." It sort of shows that not all people who are lost want to be that way, and some are desperately trying to find their way out. But that's all just my interpretation.

  • I think it about jesse expressing his deep, dark, hidden homosexual feelings.

  • God. I hope so.

  • sounds like modest mouse

  • They DO sound like Modest Mouse, which is an excellent thing.

  • No.

  • um can i ask wat this song means?? like really wat does it mean bc im confuzed

  • "About the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

And which psalms we had learned the most

And then we all turned to dirt

    And dust"

They're lryics and style of music is too similar to Modest Mouse to be considered groundbreaking or original. I agree with akom69, listen to Modest Mouse's Moon and Antarctica... seriously. Brand New is mimicing Modest Mouse. I wonder if Issac Brock has heard this song yet.

  • I really really love Modest Mouse, and yes Brand New makes very similar music. But shouldn't that be a good thing? If you like MM then why wouldn't you like Brand New? I think they write good lyrics, both of them.

  • @DiscoZombi3

I can see that. Tho Brand New has moved me more when I listen to them, rather than Modest Mouse. Dont get me wrong, Im a fan of both, in fact Ive seen Brand New and Modest Mouse live. both great ^^

  • unless they copied a modest mouse song note for not and word for not they didnt do anything wrong. is it bad to be influenced nowadays or something? gimme a fucking break

  • dude, this is so chill.

  • You know a lot of people have said that they were disappointed with this album. But I love the fact that they're genre is so flexible and that they DID stray a little bit. I love their old shit, and I love this =]

  • oOJordan, I don't get what you mean by "their genre"? Isn't that what makes them great, is each album has a different genre, thus making the band truly un-define-able? I love this album too. I'm surprised so many people didn't enjoy it. It's a great follow up to "The Devil and God..." I think the songs are written in the vein of what's on that CD, but with more indie-sounding vocals, and a very raw, industrial sound throughout the album.

  • i'm a french fan!!! Those guys are brillant and i can say that all of their album mad me totally fan!!!

  • Favorite song off the album. (:

  • the second verse blows my fuckin' mind. What a hauntingly beautiful image of purgatory jesse paints<3

  • vin wrote the lyrics for this song

  • Simply beautiful.

  • This BAND SONG and ALBUM is amazing !!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Never has been an album called Jesus

  • Yah there was they made a single album 4 the song Jesus Christ
