Fleece lets the pee pass through and get absorbed by the material you have put under. I am not sure polyester blankets do the same, as I have never used them.
Under the fleece, I put layers of newspapers, then old bath towels. Then the fleece.
Your cage will remain clean this way as you will be able to brush the poopies with a small broom and dust bin wherever you like.
Aww they're so cute! good job on the cage, it looks great! And I love the design of your fleece ;)
Just a question (if I'm going to get Guinea Pigs), what do you put underneath the fleece, and can you use a 100% Polyester blanket that's folded into the C&C?
Just out of curiousity, do you have luck with litter training? Mine do very well. They let some poops out on the fleece, but for the most part use the box I made for them.
I, like I said, use the fleece like you do. I put a loft on top with a box that contains that carefresh. Their water bottle and hay are up there over the carefresh and they found a corner in the box that they liked and use it. Of course, they still have some poop in the cage itself, but as long as the majority and the pee go in the box, I'm happy!!
I keep them in the basement ( wooden floors, nice heating system; we call it the family room:) They have a 3 by 8 cage with a second floor. Enough space for them to be happy:)
There was no special reason to get boys. The first two we got as a befriended family needed to solve a problem. They asked us whether we wanted to have them. Then the others came when one of the two died. At first the two peruvians, thenthe three other brothers.
Meisie is the oldest ( red sheltie), Caramel ( Texel), Vanille ( CH Teddy), Charlotte ( young sheltie), Booboo ( agouti/grey colour one) and Neige, all white with rosettes.
o-m-g Thanks so much! ^_^
... But they have... HAVE to pee and poop on it so... *brings out the old washing machine* :D

More absorbant material like CAREFRESH, under the fleece, can extend the period in between you having to clean your cage.

Yeah, just use whatever kind of bedding is available. It should have the same effect. Let me know if it works for you!!

carefresh is not a product available in my region and it cost an arm and a leg of shipping to have it here.
But I will try your trick with water bottles and hay rack over potty. Neat idea!
