@dreammaker182 the are came about from the M-16 not the other way around, as far as full auto ARs... well if the BATF see you with one your looking at a lot of prison time and huge fines.... it take a lot of work to make an AR full auto btw, you can't just drop in a full auto sear & bolt. :-p

What good is a weapon to me if it's locked away- I own a Smith & Wesson M&P 15T (AR-15), Remington 700 XCR in 7mm Remington Mag, Springfield XD Service model in .45 auto, H&K USP Compact in 9mm, and until recently I had a Mossberg 500 shotgun in 20ga. however I sold that to a good friend to get a Remington 870 12ga. to build up. What do u have?

@lanceglock45 it was converted before the law changed in 1986, so it's pretty old.

Also, whether you have 3 round burst or not is just a function of the parts you have in the trigger mechanism, so If I wanted to convert to 3RB (I don't) it would be a pretty straightforward operation. It's certainly something that can be changed easily. The M16 burst mechanism is stupid simple, compared to something like an HK MP5. The HK burst trigger packs look like a damn sewing machine.
