  • Thanks for sharing! I'm goind to have my grade 5 studetns watch this!

  • Who's playing the first song ????

  • @felixbombardier The FIrst Song is entitled Alehouse... I do not know who are playing the instruments... the music on this video comes from a music cd called Celtic Folk...produced by Getty Images...

  • @notaemssinned Thank you but its music from newfounland ?

  • @felixbombardier not likely newfoundland music, as you know Newfoundland music is much like Irish... I would venture to say that it is celtic Irish... instrumental newfoundland music availalbe for commercial or private use is pretty much non-existent... if you come across some I sure would appreciate the link...

  • Ya know, I'd have to agree with you on this. I myself am running a similar campaign in my area, protecting our adorable friends, the rats. For years and centuries untold, our twitchy nosed partners have been terrorized by the vicious cunning of kitties in our homes and streets. Think of the families of rats, running for dear life from sewer to sewer, trying to escape the kitty-spurred purge in a vain attempt at a life. These kitties, like the seals, need to be put down for their genocide.

  • @Phymata Keep trying, troll.

  • These guys need a machine gun on Christmas Eve, or a hungry pod of orcas

  • Wheres the Cod?

  • who needs fishing hooks, eh?

  • The current depleted condition of Atlantic cod is indeed due to human action: the overfishing by French fleets based in St. Pierre and Miquelon. But this human action has stopped, and the cod fishery has been closed for years. Yet, cod stocks have not rebuilt, allowing the cod fishery to re-open. Hence, the natural predation faced by cod has to be suppressed if the cod population is to begin growing again, to allow the cod fishery to re-open; Newfoundlanders need it.

  • that thur be a lotta fish eh

  • Cod is only 3% of a Harp Seal's diet. The cod depletion is not due to seals overeating them. Leave the seals out of the equation and do not use the cod stock depletion as an excuse to hunt seals.

  • @Jennnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaa Exactly what the hell do you really know??? Clearly not as much as you think you do.

  • Just because some people dislike PETA shouldn't be like oh yeah FK those seals! They have nothing to do with it. Organizations fail, nature doesn't. Don't hate the seals just because you don't like a group of people.

  • I only came to this video because I seen Cod. I am disappointed.

  • Kill the bloody seals....all of them!!! Merry Christmas and screw you PETA!!!!!!!!!

  • Seals need to eat fish. We don't. Go vegan.

  • @RosemaryAmey seals can just go ahead and eat some greens, I'll enjoy my meats, thank you :)

  • thumbs this up if you thought this video would have something to do with call of duty

  • @SuperVideoHunt Get a life and stop thinking about video games all the time.

  • "Fish", what Fish, ah we all know that D.F.O.,( Dept of Fools and Oceans), would not want to see this, after all they studyed Seals for 23 years, and could not determind, what seals eat!!! way to go Dept of Fools!!!

  • looks like 6 PETA members disliked the video. I love cod mmm'mmm'mmm, I love seal flippers, mmmm'mmmm...I like this video. Good work by'z! I hope the feds will see this and we can go out in the boats and get some cod all year round, open our fish plants back up so we can get the jobs back on the go!

  • @newstream2010 thats not in the best interest in government..you see..there is still a huge demand for labour in the oil sands expansion out west..they dont want a generation of easterners staying in the east..move them out west has been the plan for years..also this cod will be caught by offshore factory freezer trawlers.to benefit the share holders in Fishery products international and clearwater..its all about big business as usual..and well harper will finish off the seal hunt soon enough.

  • PETA will have a meltdown watching this! HA! And ahhhh Cap'n Watson (just joking about the Cap'n part as he never officially did a sea faring captain program) must be cringing now. Great video! Keep it coming!

  • @donnybrooklads of course peta will have a meltdown watching this video. look at thos poor seals out there in the cold water, they might drown or get hypothermia. get out there and save them. while your at it better save the fish from the cold water.

  • also, REALLY great music.

  • Canadian Pride!

  • that was a really great video!

  • Some rough weather for sure for sure, I heard there was quite some damage back home in Greenspond and as well.

  • Triton Newfoundland...

  • Was this in Nova Scotia?

  • I hope da by'z collected the cod from off the wharf! Looks like there is loads of cod out there! Get some seal and get some cod, the hell with the feds! I can see the cod really thick on the surface. Fuck the Federal Government, go out in your boats by'z!

  • Amazing and strange .. thanks for this video

  • It's encouraging to see the waters teeming with cod and herring! Nice video Dennis

  • Seals actually look like they are having fun! Our island got hit, too, but we don't have soil as solid as The Rock, so you endure a lot better than do we. Looks like a great feed! Thanks for posting. You should send to CBC's Land and Sea... they might be able to use.

Unfortunately, anecdotal abundance in a storm-tossed cove does not bounty make; get rid of offshore trawlers and reconstruct the inshore as Mother Nature recovers from the damage.

  • I thought this was going to be about Navy Seals playing COD haha

  • See also Tons of Cod 14th & 22nd December, awesome.

  • Great video. My father used to manage fish plants and the fishing industry is dear to me. However, "fishing down the food chain" may not be the best idea there. The top of the food chain has been removed, clearly, some sort of a seal hunt is necessary. However, as for the cod, I think, good decisions should be made using science and local knowledge, but I think a cod fishery should stay limited for some time....

  • all i have to say is that the seals should be killed. because they are a big part of why the fish was in there and a big reason why there is alot less cod fish out there and who ever says seals dont eat cod fish are you stupid or what. A seal will eat what ever it can get and i think that alot of the seals should be killed.

  • @chipman5 BLAHBLAHBLAH. Its not like WE are the only thing trying to survive on this planet.

  • @chipman5

Think about it: the seals were around with the cod for tens of thousands of years before Jacques Cartier arrived and was able to put a basket in the water and pull up a load of fish, and that was after the Spanish, Portugese and Basques had already discovered the motherlode.

Newfoundland fishers were able to feed their families for 400 years and still export to Europe, etc. Then, along came the idea for TRAWLERS and mass capture! Within 40 years the fish are gone. Seals? Get real.

  • Huge

  • For anyone that cares to know ...

Both grey and common seals eat a variety of prey - fish, shellfish, squid and octopus. They are opportunistic feeders, and will eat whatever is available, including cod, herring, flounder, etc.

  • "Seals don't eat Codfish" - PETA

  • @Polar1zed Are you a member of peta or just posting a comment they made?

  • nice footage.

as for the comments about getting fish, I'd pay good money to see that, even when there is no storm. I'd pay more in weather like this though..

  • This is absolutely incredible. Awesome video. I'd have to snag some of the fish for myself though.

  • That's amazing footage. I'd be having fresh fish for dinner if i were there.
