I love how every version of this, and every Kraftwerk song, sounds different, depending on who is performing it. So open to interpertation, little tweaks, different takes. Beautiful.
Mabe, mabe not but Wolfgang still invented the electro-drumminstrument (or somekind of other drumminstrument, im not 100% sure but i think it´s the instrument he plays here)
@bmwman87 What he's playing there is a Roland pad. The same shape as the ones he used to play in KW, but the old ones were made by him, early drum machines modified to have metal pads. Interestingly enough, Jim Mothersbaugh, who played drums for DEVO before Alan Myers, made a set of electronic drums around the same time. I'm not sure who did it first or how Jim's e-drums worked.
Im 47 , I always grew up thinking DEVO copied Kraftwerk when I was a teenager.
and of course back then I had no internet to research,
so later I figured out that DEVO without knowledge of Kraftwerk: especially in consideration of the fact that DEVO started as an art collective in 1972!
However I do have to sAy, Im practically positive DEVO's look by the time of Freedom of Coice was totally plagerized off of Man Machine
hi technik 54, go and read wolfgang's book, you don't know anything! mr. hilpert was and is no drummer at all! He is a studio engeneer, no developer. he just
takes the place of wolfgang since he left the group.
hey technik56, you should read wolfgangs book first, you dont know anything at all! hilpert was and is no drummer, he also is no developer, he just takes wolfgangs place in the band since he left in 1986.
@kratzda Hilpert can play electronic percussion; if you hear a live recording of "The Model" from the 1991 tour, all the drum sounds are played by him. He's primarily an engineer, but he can drum a bit too!
@MrKraftwerk1 That was my sophmore year in High School. I'm a senior now. I wish I still had German. The class got rid off since all these budget cuts started happening in Florida. Sad right?
I with they could something like this over in England

This is really great. Autobahn has always been a Kraftwerk favorite of mine. Wolfgang is a master at the drums.
