ALSO!!! : lol make sure you use metal sparklers as your fuse, even duct taping a few of them together. They provide a long lasting fuse allowing you to reach a safe distance away to view the spectacular. Metal sparklers reach and extend the proper temperature to ensure your proposed reaction.

Also don’t use metal piping, unless you are prepared to get injured or killed, it is never safe no matter what you may think. Also while making these make sure you have a grounding wire to remove any static build up that you may have to prevent any unwanted SPARKING... ALSO... you can use the guts of all the fun parts of artillery shells to make a not so loud but a bright and colorful explosion.

Also you can use PVC piping, however long you want two end caps and metal sparklers as the fuse. Next fill "PACKED FULL" with the black powder that you can find in model rocket engines or if it’s near or around muzzle loading season you can buy black powder from places such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, or some kind of surplus store. I suppose it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the rest. Prime and glue your pipe well and wrap explosive in duct tape to help prevent shrapnel injuries. Enjoy! :D
