  • I quite like this cover. FOXEY!

  • @Rockguitarhero462 But if I'm not mistaken, that's him speaking at five seconds?

  • I just love Rob's voice, especially when he just speaks. "No, Lol."

  • @FadedRedJeans um rob doesn't sing on this one. I think it was Michael Dempsey.

  • What everyone needs to understand is.... They were not being serious here. They were being silly with their soundcheck.

  • Lol! I always smile when I listen to Michael's vocals here. I can just imagine them being silly while doing this.

  • THIS IS A GOOD INTROO

  • Its a cover in the good sense of the word, i.e. they did something really different instead of just trying to replay it like the original. and it has something..

  • Even Smith stated this cover was 'horrendous', and hates this being on the album ..

  • @samhuinn1991 You're correct. They did this while messing around with the soundcheck and Chris put it on the TIB LP.... Robert was not happy about it.

  • the cover is good, and im a jimi fan. sure it's not as good but it's good enough to be a favourite

  • Good intro ! :*

  • Michael's bass is absolutely massive here - seriously turn it up it's fucking heavy, shame it was toned down after the soundcheck

  • I kinda like it :D it sounds nothing like the original, and it's kind of a good thing... Although this would be better if it wasn't a cover, 'cause the only thing about this cover that even resembles the original are the lyrics.

  • Uhhh.... Interesting.

  • its funny!

  • I think Jimi would have liked this cover.

  • This is a good intro! LOL

  • worst version ever,, interesting though

  • This is actually pretty sweet

  • frankie :3

  • Robert didn't want this on the record anyway - it was Chris Parry who decided to put it on there. And while I like Michael Dempsey, you really can't beat Simon Gallup <3 He's not a bad singer either, on those two Fools Dance tracks he sang on.

  • this is fuckin class and if you wanna moan about it fuck off .it always makes me smile

  • uh it's punk rock, how its suppose to be sang doesn't matter. As always band is tight as hell

  • Lol this made me laugh :DDD It was good though

  • real cool cover. me likes

  • Quit hating on Michael Dempsey. He's not a great singer but dammit the guy had some awesome bass lines, Jumping Someone Else's Train for example.. Honestly it would've been interesting if they would've kept him as a bassist instead of sacking him early on.

  • I love The Cure, but this is bad :S this guy's singing is totally unsuitable!

  • shit dude, it's the first song by the cure i really dislike, this cover sucks hahaha i prefer jimmy's original version

  • @JohnnyWalls301 it's a weird cover..but it has inspiration.. and come on, you can't beat Jimi..a cover is a cover..

If you want competition check SRV cover on little wing

  • @JohnnyWalls301 jimmy's foxy lady has been haunting me for years, but this one i can't get out of my head. i love three imaginary boys, its a wicked punk masterpiece and i think jimi would have liked this one - what's the point of covering it exactly as it sounds? ManuAthens thanks for uploading!

  • LOVE THE GUITAR.

  • soundtrack of Skins

  • yeeees this was played on skins 5x01 hahahahaha:P

  • NO, LOL. NO.

  • This was played on Skins. ❤

  • nothing compared to the one by jimi

  • So many thanks for posting this one...never thought l'd find it on utube!!

  • lmao

Lol: Simon is it two verses or..

Robert: *cuts him off* No Lol, no.

  • @eusef11236, he didn't say 'Simon', he said something else, sounds kinda like 'Saturday'

  • hmm--dempsey and hendrix are both sagittarius..

  • The guy who is singing is Michael Dempsey, was not supposed to be on the album and was removed for the American release. It was first a soundcheck but they decided to keep it on the English version of the album I suppose. Robert is the one talking in the beginning but he only plays the guitar in this song.

  • @XxTraBenxX ok then.. i give credits to all of u who mentioned that...

Strange..but i can't hear any difference between his voice and Robert's..

    Almost identical..anyways..

Thanks again for the info mates..

  • @ManuAthens, if you can't hear the difference, then you don't know The Cure.

  • @ToolsnFire looks like i was confused, lol

anyway, at last i got it.. its Michael..and soundcheck or not i still love it!

  • Robert Smith is definately singin on this song..

No doubt about that..Thats why i was curious when i heard about 'who's this guy'..

And i was also feelin weird about the fact that this song is missing from utube..

    Now it's not :)

  • @ManuAthens, dude come on, that voice is significantly different than Robert's. I guess you're not a musician.

  • @ManuAthens ¬¬ are you serious?

  • @JohnnyWalls301 well..i finally got it..better late than never :D

  • @ManuAthens Whats all the getting about( lol and Lol, being so confusing?)? There is so much 2 like about this song, what a great add. Love Robert's intro and dig hearing Dempsey for first and last time. What strikes me most is the "The Forest" riff thoughout song. Don't recall hearing that riff in other pre "17 seconds" songs. I think the info in wikipedia might be somewhat false, and the concept of "The Forest" is heard here, for the first time.

  • I really like this. I know it's a cover but the cure inject this really punk inspired careless fuck you attitude into it. I don't care that it isn't Robert singing, I don't give a fuck that they butchered the original all I care is that it sounds fucking fantastic.

  • thank you.. I was lookin for this. WeLL done.

    fox ye

  • This is an original cure song from Three Imaginary Boys , not a cover. The only song not singing by Robert Smith but by Michael Dempsey, a Cure member in that time.

  • I love the Cure, but this is an awful cover, they can play but this guy can't sing anywhere near Robert Smith and get away with it.

  • @triggerlucy

    Hmmm, who's 'this guy'??

  • @ManuAthens His name is Michael Dempsey. I disagree though, I like this song. It's one of my favorites.

  • @ManuAthens It's Michael Dempsey.

  • @triggerlucy this is robert smith

  • @triggerlucy they themselves hated it. it was only supposed to be soundcheck but he producer insisted it go on the album

  • Thanks, I was just looking for this last week!
