Its a cover in the good sense of the word, i.e. they did something really different instead of just trying to replay it like the original. and it has something..
@samhuinn1991 You're correct. They did this while messing around with the soundcheck and Chris put it on the TIB LP.... Robert was not happy about it.
I kinda like it :D it sounds nothing like the original, and it's kind of a good thing... Although this would be better if it wasn't a cover, 'cause the only thing about this cover that even resembles the original are the lyrics.
Robert didn't want this on the record anyway - it was Chris Parry who decided to put it on there. And while I like Michael Dempsey, you really can't beat Simon Gallup <3 He's not a bad singer either, on those two Fools Dance tracks he sang on.
Quit hating on Michael Dempsey. He's not a great singer but dammit the guy had some awesome bass lines, Jumping Someone Else's Train for example.. Honestly it would've been interesting if they would've kept him as a bassist instead of sacking him early on.
@JohnnyWalls301 jimmy's foxy lady has been haunting me for years, but this one i can't get out of my head. i love three imaginary boys, its a wicked punk masterpiece and i think jimi would have liked this one - what's the point of covering it exactly as it sounds? ManuAthens thanks for uploading!
The guy who is singing is Michael Dempsey, was not supposed to be on the album and was removed for the American release. It was first a soundcheck but they decided to keep it on the English version of the album I suppose. Robert is the one talking in the beginning but he only plays the guitar in this song.
@ManuAthens Whats all the getting about( lol and Lol, being so confusing?)? There is so much 2 like about this song, what a great add. Love Robert's intro and dig hearing Dempsey for first and last time. What strikes me most is the "The Forest" riff thoughout song. Don't recall hearing that riff in other pre "17 seconds" songs. I think the info in wikipedia might be somewhat false, and the concept of "The Forest" is heard here, for the first time.
I really like this. I know it's a cover but the cure inject this really punk inspired careless fuck you attitude into it. I don't care that it isn't Robert singing, I don't give a fuck that they butchered the original all I care is that it sounds fucking fantastic.
This is an original cure song from Three Imaginary Boys , not a cover. The only song not singing by Robert Smith but by Michael Dempsey, a Cure member in that time.
I quite like this cover. FOXEY!

@Rockguitarhero462 But if I'm not mistaken, that's him speaking at five seconds?

I just love Rob's voice, especially when he just speaks. "No, Lol."

@FadedRedJeans um rob doesn't sing on this one. I think it was Michael Dempsey.

What everyone needs to understand is.... They were not being serious here. They were being silly with their soundcheck.
ToBeTwoSoulsAsOne 3 months ago
Lol! I always smile when I listen to Michael's vocals here. I can just imagine them being silly while doing this.

Michael's bass is absolutely massive here - seriously turn it up it's fucking heavy, shame it was toned down after the soundcheck

Strange..but i can't hear any difference between his voice and Robert's..
Almost identical..anyways..
Thanks again for the info mates..

@ManuAthens, if you can't hear the difference, then you don't know The Cure.

And i was also feelin weird about the fact that this song is missing from utube..
