Not entirely a chemical reaction, the soda has carbon bubbles in it and when you put the mento's in it it starts to bubble because it is a hard textured candy, thus the carbons rush to the mento all at once causing it to explode
I LIKE THIS VIDEO. It's less than 60 seconds. Correction, it is 60 seconds. Exactly 60 seconds. I thought the video was pretty cool. I'm going to add it to my favorites.
i liked how santafegrl repeated everything you said in the description of the video and tried to pass it off as their own thoughts. ha ha, now that's funny.
it is not a chemical reaction lol this is a physical interaction, the roughness and the pores on the sugar crystals of the mentos cause sites of bubble nucleation, causing bubbles to form quickly, which is a thermodynamically unfavorable event. This catalyzes the release of the stored CO2 in the coke as the gas seen and boom it shoots into the air...and If you say the equlibrium held between HOCOOH and CO2 + H20 death will be had, Think before you argue with a trained chemist about chemistry =D
There is no proof that is just one theory i do not believe because if you make a mold "As was testest on mith busters and exact mold of one and put it in diet cola it doesn't work it is a disprove theory..
can i ask you? an exact mold of what? oh wait wait i see you mean a mold of the mentos candy?? do you expect the mold to conform to the molecular crystal structure???? I would doubt that unless the mold is also made of some sort of sugar because other then that the roughness/ smoothness at the crystal level will be absolutely not the same...Im not sure where you are going with this??
im not quite so sure what is stupid here, its the roughness at the molecular level that sort of snags free molecular CO2 in the soda, that then slowly works its way into a bubble..and then chain reaction...... Im saying that I do not believe their disprovement of the theory? care to scientifically explain whats going on then , because if it was a chemical reaction then the by-products could be detected by running a sample through HPLC/ GC-MS before and after the fact....of the "reaction" explain
@Silentsniper121 shut up its their fun not your fun noobie get your milk from your mommy and say unga unga.. ahahaha ur the one that is retarded think deeply before u type here in YouTube dope.
Does it have to be Diet Coke or will any soda work? It looks like you didn't get all the Mentos into the bottle. The boom from the explosion was pretty impressive! I also really enjoyed the slow motion part. And last but not least, I really liked the way you fit everything into a 60 second video clip! I look forward to your next video!
wow..haha that was a quick one huh! :P
