Why are there terran depots?

@thenpancrea They are there from the start, and that way, protoss or terran can not wall off an enemies base at the start. Or contain them with cannons. They will first have to destroy that lowered depot, which costs time, and give the other player time to react.

@deucejiggy: This is one of the newer maps with depos at the bottom of the ramps to prevent any early cannon or bunker contain cheese. This restriction makes the games less predictable and typically longer.

The +2 allowed his stalkers to 3-shot the lings instead of 4-shotting them. It was quite risky, but since he saw the very delayed gas from the zerg's side and scouted no evo chambers with his hallucination, he knew he would be at an advantage if he pushed. As for positioning, zerg could protect either his 3rd or his natural, and because of force fields, pincering the protoss would be really hard anyway.

Lucky the infestors were delayed, as they could cause significant problems to him.

@arealydeadman there modified versions of the map (used for mlg and GSL i believe). This prevents walling off the ramp with pylons or bunker. Its a common tactic used on zerg, but i guess it was too good, so they made it so you cant.

Often times I agree with you. In this game, though, I feel Vibe could have put Ace in a harder to 'ace' position if he had just part of his army on his 3rd's high ground before Ace got up there, then closed in from all sides as he Ace tried to move up to that high ground.

I know ace would have backed off to that pocket expansion and used the terrain there, but that would have still been a more precarious position than the 3rd's high ground, where lings woulda been a touch better.
