Not sure about the show (who could compete with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman?), but that is a great version of the theme song! Also, great visuals of old New York.
I remember this when it first aired. They actually recycled scripts from the Klugman-Randall series. It's good to see this again, but it pales by comparison, even though there is talent to be had here. A pleasant lack of "ac-kin" as my sister-in-law likes to say.
I'm a huge fan of the The Odd Couple, and I didnt think that I'd like this one, but from what I've seen of this one, it's awesome. I wish they'd release this on DVD!
Wow cool version. Why does Ron Glass look like an extra smooth player in some R&B music video ala Malt Liquior ad circa '82?

Do you think it would have made it if they got Marla Gibbs to play Blanche, Oscar's ex-wife?

I think it's safe to say the new updated theme was the best thing about the show.

With them using recycled scripts, I don't even know how the audience could laugh at the same stuff they'd seen a few years earlier.

This show had it's own flavor although they could have gotten some new writers. ABC never gave this show a decent chance

No wonder this show never found an audience. They were using recycled scripts from the original series.
