finally i get to hear a song off of catfish rising. About what I expected. Mildly interesting but miles away from their best. People immediately cite Ian's voice drop as a signal of JT goiing south but equal blame goes to the constant lineup changes. The late 70's JT was the best by far and I don't know what Ian was thinking to break that up.
At least Crest of a Knave was pretty good but everything since Stormwatch has been hit and miss or downright hard to listen to.
Call me crazy, but I think this song is about marijuana. More specifically, its about disconnecting from the "electric" wonders of such as TV , and stimulating your mind with natures candy. Theres nothing better to do. Just a lazy, dog dangling afternoon..don't try to get by. Roll yer own.
@XSxarfaceX : ) It's all good...I liked the Joker reference. Honest, a few years ago I used to work as a sound tech and met Ian. They were touring this album...so I asked him what this song was about given his very public stand on illegal substances. Surprisingly he was a bit shy in giving the answer but we had a good laugh about afterwards.
ian somewere quoted, that he was asked in talkshow on bbc, what is song about.he don´t want to, but finally he said something like. i am hardly trying not to say female masturbation in bbc programme.
I don't believe Catfish Raising is a bad album. On the opposite, it has a British blues mood that I find irresistible...My favourite songs from CR are "Rocks on the road" and "Thinkin' round corners"
Catfish Rising shows how Tull can reinvent itself, using acoustics, electric guitars with little effects, percussion and what else. There's no other album with this mood, so that's why I find this album as one of my favorites.
on the latest release of the cd there are two more bonus tracks..."Night in the wilderness" and an heavymetal-like live version of "Jump start"...You can't miss it !
i don't think that's the best song of J.T.but,i dont think is too long, that's not the bad one (excuse me for my bad english)But i'm glad to "certify" thats not only for the olds!that's great,Thank you!!!
i think its simiply a song written to have a double meaning, rolling home grown weed, and fingering the beav

A great album with interesting songs.

Awful. Ian lost his voice after "A". Althought Broadsword and Under Wraps were mildly entertaining. I love Tull, but good god.

Its about masturbation.
Specificly for women.
Which is more awesome than pot if you ask me.

@Stormthorn67 absolutely,I mean I love pot, but i'd prefer female masturbation any time:-)

@keilaman i'll take the pot. and girl who won't let me "diddle" her while i'm mid-puff, isn't worth poking.

@XSxarfaceX Nope. About female diddling. From the mouth of the man himself.

Ahhh... the 'Gloria Hunniford incident'!
I'm a dedicated Tull fan, but this was the only song worth hearing on the entire album, so thanks for posting it...
