  • Two former NWA champions on the same tag team.. unheard of back then! They were a pretty damn good team! Crusher was the strength and Wildfire was the quickness in the team. The best days of rasslin'!

  • Did GCW have a working contract to share talent with the AWA?

  • @HCL808 Crusher was put out of action by Jerry Blackwell, and he turned up in GCW to rehab before returning to the AWA

  • Da Crusha!! Tommy Rich was silky smooth in the ring.

  • Crusher and Tommy Rich held the Georgia belts from 9/21/79 untill 10/5/79. Crusher looks great for a 53 year old man.

  • This is the first time that I saw the Crusher in GCW! He usually stayed in the AWA territory of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. Regardless, he was great with Dick the Bruiser as his partner.

  • The Crusher can barely move!

  • I was 8 years old in '79, so I'm not sure what age I started watching Georgia. I'm shocked to see Crusher here. :)

  • I think that it is very interesting that Crusher and Heenan travelled away fro the AWA at the same time. Anyone know if these guys were good friends? Why would 2 stalwarts leave the home territory and end up in the same place?

  • I had no idea Crusher had a run in Georgia... tagging with Tommy, no less!! Is this '79 as well? Fergee had to be barely 20 years old on this!! This is awesome!!!

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 Late Sept/Early Oct 1979 -- they were champions for two weeks.

  • October 5, 1979 (Friday) – Atlanta, GA – Atlanta Municipal Auditorium [P] (Paul Jones (01) – Promoter / Georgia Championship

Wrestling) > Jacques Goulet over Ricky Fields > Chris Markoff over Buzz Sawyer > Bob Armstrong over Jonathan Boyd > Stan Hansen

and Bobby Jaggers went to a draw >

  • Tony Atlas & Andre the Giant over Bobby Heenan & Killer Karl Kox > Georgia Tag Team Title Match:

Ernie Ladd & Ole Anderson over Tommy Rich & the Crusher* to win the title / Notes: Heenan managed Ladd, Kox, and Jaggers.
