  • So you say they stay in formation. So how then does it work when one unit performs another task, finishes, and returns to group? does it go to previous formation? does it stay in its new relative position? (hoping not.)

Also, should I assume any faster units will slow down to keep in formation? I suppose that's for the better. But then you may want to attach a slow unit from behind as reinforcements and it could bring the whole group to a crawl in that case, so what then? Is there a range?

  • 1) Yes it does stay in its new relative posistion but you can change its position just by ordering it to where you want it to be relative to the hierachy

    2) Yes they do but apparently there is an option to have them move at their own top speeds.

  • @Vivace66:

Ah thanks, where'd you find that out?

And I hope turning on and off those options doesn't take too much chrono energy compared to a normal move.

  • 1) was from a tweet from hazardous software and 2) was somewhere on their website (I think). It probably doesn't take much more chronoenergy, in fact I think that all commands cost the same amount and the cost depends on when you are and how many units you are commanding.

  • I see, thanks. Yeah actually, I was trying to say I hope it takes less than a normal move. I personally don't think all orders should take the same amount. Some will be more critical to use just to keep things working smoothly (like here), or will just naturally benefit you much more.

You'd probably need(want) to use this speed option every time you move a unit independently, so in a way I'd rather it cost near nothing. It will increase the possibilities of unique tactics.

  • i like this entire idea and the dev team, keep it up.

  • Nice demo but it seems a bit short

  • God, that is a good idea for unit control.

Having vague armies you throw around the map and hope they form up well is a weakness if many RTS's

  • Notice the time wave visual effect is no longer vertical but diagonal... hmmmmmm

  • maybe the time wave goes from one side of the map to the other, so that it looks different every time...

  • Perhaps, but frankly I prefer diagonal than vertical, just more astheticaly pleasing to me.
