I always get so much out of your postings. As a new fan I'm listening to his early works.....yet I'm in awe of your chosen pix for visual. Thx for matching photos with time of music. A detail which all your posts hv. Deeply appreciated.
During the Million Dollar Quartet session Elvis begins sining "There's No Place Like Home", and he rolls into "When It Rains It Really Pours"; someone asks Elvis if he's gonna put that on an album... In a 1968 rehearsal Elvis sings, "You know what it takes, you got it baby; remember that; you are the only one I chose; goddamn that's hot..." Elvis was right - so hot he should have polished a studio version with his 1968 Animal Growl.
Great video :) Not sure why The King isn t in the Blues Hall of Fame. This song alone bust the door down...the Million Dollar Quartet version just smokes my brain lol. That Man could sing :) The King no doubt :)
This version is available on The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters. Additional takes are available on Elvis A Legendary Performer Vol. 4; A Golden Celebration, and the Complete Sun Sessions CD.
Elvis recorded this song July 11, 1955 at Sun Records but no take was deemed acceptable for release. Drummer Johnny Bernero joined Elvis, Scott Moore, and Bill Black for the session. On February 24, 1957, Elvis recorded it for RCA at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, and that version was released on the Elvis For Everyone LP.
On the 2004 CD "Elvis At Sun", the sound quality of this song is way, way, way better than it ever was before. The sound quality of this song is very poor on all releases before the "Elvis At Sun" CD was released. Kevan Budd is the best mastering engineer that works on Elvis CD's. Kevan Budd has only been working on Elvis CD's since 2004. He has done the sound mastering work for a lot of Elvis' 1950's recordings. This video totally rocked in every way, 10 Stars as always Jackie.
