  • Can you upload that better version of this concert, please?

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy Hey buddy! Sorry but I don't have it anymore because my computer crashed and I can't remember the site... :/,

  • @RayManzarekGod

    Aw...well, that's fine. Thanks anyway. :)

  • @RayManzarekGod...I wouldn't be surprised if both are right. Perhaps Grace didn't see him eat it.

  • I have an old VCR tape of Grace Slick giving her account of this. Drugs, she said, were legal in Amsterdam, and fans were just handing the band all kinds of stuff. She said everyone took a little to be polite and saved the rest for later...except Jim. Yep, all of it...the second he received it. You gotta hand it to Ray. This is the first time I've heard this version and I think he nailed it pretty close...and he wasn't expecting to have to do it at all!

  • @TDempsterDesign I have a DVD of that interview too :). Tghat is absolutely hilarious still....

I heard another story that supposedly Jim ate a huge handful of Hash before going on stage but I believe Grace's interview is more accurate.

  • In one of the Jim Morrison biographies, they explain how Jim got so wasted prior to the concert, and that the other band members were so pissed at him that they decided to perform as a trio.

  • Used your video in a Doors Examiner article

    Thanks for posting!

    Jim Cherry

  • @jymwrite Awesome man! Thanks for posting it on there bro!

  • @jymwrite Awesome man! Thanks for posting it on there bro!

  • @RayManzarekGod Cool! Thanks man!

    Jim

  • @jymwrite :)

  • I really gotta applaud Ray here. He's doing, bass, chords. and vocals, which is all very hard to do at the same time, as I've been learning.

  • @MeanObiwan It really is... I play organ, I can sing, but cannot do all three at the same time...

  • @RayManzarekGod Yeah, I can play both of these songs alright, no where near as good as Ray yet, but good enough to get by, and I've tried singing while playing and I just mess up repeatedly.

  • @MeanObiwan Exact same here... If I take out the bass, I can sing and play just fine... I used to beat the hell outta myself for not being able to do all three, but you have to take in that Rays been playing piano since age 10 (I think,.... Or maybe 8) and he is 28 or 29 here... So thats 20 years about of experience... I've only been playing for 2.

  • @RayManzarekGod The only song I can sing and play at the same time is Backdoor Man, but I can't get into it, I gotta be very careful or I'll mess up. Any other song I mess up my playing. I don't even think I have been playing a full year, close to it though.

  • @MeanObiwan Very cool.... Backdoor Man is a great song... If you just keep on practicing you'll get it all down within time! I suggest studying classical pieces, those can really help moving both hands differently.

  • i would give one of my nuts to see this Shit live!

  • @DannyCruzz Same!!

  • Thank's Brother!

You have to post thise Break on through version to U-tube my man!

    Cheers!

  • Ray sung "Break on through (to the other side)"!!!

    really!?

    do you have thise video/audio!!!???

  • @JonasVanRetro Hey my friend, I have the audio to it, no video of the shows though. I will send it tommorow when I find it :)

  • @RayManzarekGod ohh ok my friend!

    do you post it already?

  • @RayManzarekGod you dont upload to u-tube?

  • @JonasVanRetro I have messsaged you the links :)

  • How many themes Manzarek sung in other times?

I only hear thise & Light my fire!

  • @JonasVanRetro At this show, Ray sung this, Light My Fire, Soul Kitchen, Break On Through, and Hello I Love you.

After Jim passed, Ray sung tons of originals written without Jim!

  • Why Manzarek sang?

  • @JonasVanRetro Hey my friend, Ray sings here because Jim had passed out prior to the show!

  • I was there, how time flies, Jim danced next to Grace Slick but he didn't collapse on stage.

  • @surfraptor Ah thats crazy! Yeah. I heard he collapsed backstage... You're the second person who's told me they were there... I didn't think I'd be able to find anyone who was there!

I have a question, did they do Unknown Soldier with Robby singing? Its rumored they did. I found a bootleg of it supposdely, but it was horrible quality, and all I could make out was Ray saying "ALL OVER BABY!"

  • He lives a quarter of a mile from him and i drive past his house everyday on the way to school. He completely ignored me in person when i went to see him some times but he was at the library and i got to ask what his favorite song was. he said Light My Fire

I told him i liked Soul Kitchen haha

  • @AakwardAardvark Thats funny lol.... Did you actually go up to his house?! You sure are lucky to live by him!

If you ever see him again... You should ask what amp he ran his Vox Continental through ;)

  • @RayManzarekGod Hi, for what we know, he was using a Fender Twin Reverb

  • @kwiinzkum Hehe, that is what I have heard!! THank you! :)

  • @RayManzarekGod When we play, we use a 72 Twin reverb for the guitar and the same for the G101

  • @kwiinzkum I see! Today I took my Vox Continental to the music store, and tried it through a twin reverb!

  • @RayManzarekGod Did you like it? I really love the Vox sound, but the G101 is a totoal different beast...but we use the Twin Reverb on both

  • @kwiinzkum Loved it... The Gibson has alot more 'power' underneath the sound I believe.

  • I THINK JIM WAS PASSED OUT ON STAGE AT THIS POINT

  • @niggaT42000 He could've been, I've heard many versions, some are he was on stage, passed out, others are he went down before the show.

  • @gerritos Sweet! Post is as a video response!

  • @RayManzarekGod

Interesting, but the missing sound of Jims voice is painfull. Ray was doing an impossible task.

  • @gerritos You're right, Jim was a once in an eternity singer.

  • I was there! I wonder if there is actually a live vid that shows what happened.

Never forget that concert, weirdest ever.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @Pacificdreamgirl Wow! Amsterdam mustve been one AWESOME place in '68! Wish I was there :(, Born in the wrong era!! I shouldve been born 50 years earlier haha!! Thats lucky that you were there! It mustve been wierd!! Glad I found someone who was actually there, hey, did Robby sing at all at it?

  • Nope not that I remember. He came out dancing on the stage when Airplane was still playing and then passed out.

It was in the time that these kind of concerts were still given in relative small places like the Concert building instead of a mega hall so the chaos was still controllable haha but of course the audience was very disappointed.

  • @Pacificdreamgirl I mean Robby, the guitar player, not Jim, its rumoured that Robby sung "Unknown Soldier" but theres no bootleg of it for some reason... I love Ray, but I could imagine the audience being disappointed! No JIMBO!

  • ok I see, sorry, I just dont remember. I know Ray sang mostly, perhaps Robbie was doing some singing too. It's so long ago and it was so chaotic. Some people were rowdy cos they were dissapointed, others just wanted them to shut up cos they appreciated the effort from the doors to still deliver somewhat of a concert. It was just weird. People came for Jim really so a lot of pent-up energy. Also in those days many people used to get high in the toilets and hallways, it was just very unreal.

  • @Pacificdreamgirl

You're so lucky to have lived through that era!! That magical mystery era!!

  • Comment removed

  • been wanting to hear this ever since I bought the 1968 european tour dvd a couple of years ago. Never knew these tapes existed.

    thanks alot :)

  • @BessieMorrison Same with me man! I saw the DVD on public television 2 years ago (Which was what got me back into The Doors) And I was like "I MUST FIND THAT CONCERT"

If you want I'll send you the whole concert.

  • hey bud, is there a way u can send me the concerto too ? :)

  • @michaeljharary Ok I'll send it, wait, actually, I'll post the download link in the video descritption okay?

  • he did a good job on vocals but the audio is a bit blury still overall a good vid

  • Just in response to one of the captions on the video, Robby isn't left handed. The negative had been flipped and it is actually a reverse of the way the photo was taken.

  • Aha, thanks dude.

  • Wow a rare gem!

    Ray is a ruler!

  • Manzarek was/is quite a guy who did more than play an awesome keyboard and write great music.

  • Jefferson Airplane, not Starship for another seven years.

  • Thanks, much appreciated dude, I've been confused for quite a while on that, I'll change the description right now.

  • I love it! I am a Manzarek junkie though. lol

  • wow supper cool! thanks for up loading!
