Anytime Rodriguez speaks, he always seems thoroughly concerned and troubled about something. I find him difficult to follow in conversation; he starts with topic "A" and ends on "L". Great orator, great command of linguistics, and great metaphorical coinage, just a bit awkward and at times uncomfortable, even.
His "Books and Learning" speech also available is more coherent. So, too, is his book HUNGER OF MEMORY. Here he's more emotional and partly deeper and partly obtuse. I miss his earlier, sharper self. HUNGER tells his story and views best and tho I disagree on some points he was interesting. Here he is more angry, sarcastic, scolding.
please take a look on the other videos of Richard Rodriguez, he is just making money recycling his stupid anecdotes... this liitle man is just laughing at gringo audience, he is just a "picaro" and his Hunger of Memory can be read it as a picaresque novel...
So by the comments that were posted here....Just beacause he is gay...does it mean he is not a person??? Does it mean he has not the ability to come out with all of those ponts of view and conclusions that he makes???
yea just found that out too..I'm currently reading "Hunger for Memory" which is amazing. But, finding out he's gay kinda pushes my mind to think differently of what i'm reading. As much as it is against my religion I'm trying incredibly hard to not be bias since he has amazing points in the book...
Another house taco stirring up the pot and calling everyone in it "brown". he is intentionally clueless of the fact that RACE demographics are very different from country to country in Latin America. But that REAL diversity won't serve his cheap political agenda, so he goes on stirring the big brown pot in his head. typical sold-out wannabe mexican-american clown apologist in his penthouse watering his calla lillies. what a joke. and his worshippers are even bigger fools
Honestly, he's a great writer and articulates his points very well. But, I agree with you on people who worship blindly. Tom Morello once said "Don't depend on a rock band or celebrity to guide your decision. Study for yourself and come up with your own educated view"
so you don't like the color brown it seems, we call that color brown, it's not really brown cause we call it that, this guys a fake, he knows better than that to be dwelling on this specific subject, and than he brings up the adam & eve incident like he was there, his a mason and he knows better than that, he's getting paid off of the cash crop, illegal immigrants. u know better than that dick(LOL) enjoy ur pay check.
amrael, truly i did not intend to bash you. I am leaving the office soon & popped into YT & there you were. My only objection to RR is that he continues to homogenize all hispanic -ultured people into his political brownness which is just not true, albeit probably true for him. This is not racist, just empirical, demographic sociological fact. When he cleans up his "brown" rhetoric, I will not ciriticize anything else about him. He is not alone in this "mistake",but is nonetheless offensive.
i understand his words to more about the societies especially untied states reaction to BROWN people being treated the same and other deeper cultural criticisms of self deprecation and lowered self image b/c of media propaganda and much much more. His Hunger for Memory book explained much for me that I brought with me when reading Brown.
Mexico probably loathes him too --- what a resentful, anti-white person.

I have read his autobiography. I am quite disappointed with his work. He comes across as whiner and arrogant. I hope he is not like that as a person.

Rodriguez claims to not be a poet. I disagree.

Starts slow but as always, Richard Rodriguez is mind boggling. No one thinks and makes me think like he does.

Amrael, if no one makes you think other than this clown, you need a brain enema, followed by electro-shock, followed by a lobotomy
