so.. how come we were attacking Iraq. instead of going after Bin Laden and the people that caused 9/11.
I mean.. in Iraq, mostly our soldier just stood around and waited to be attack...

Iraq was obviously a mistake, from a certain standpoint. Although later it could be shown to have been worth it, considering the long term benefits. But we can't argue that now, Bush and Co. had an itchy trigger finger, and we jumped the gun on Iraq, in hindsight.
But once we were in Iraq, and we removed the Govt. and destroyed their military, we couldn't just leave the place in chaos and anarchy. That would've been completely irresponsible.

It has been demonstrated conclusively by our own intelligence agencies and our nation's interrogation efforts in past wars that creating trusting relationships between captors and prisoners revealed more significant information than torture. Not to mention the face that we are prohibited by law from doing so. METHINKS YOU ALL WATCH A BIT TWO MUCH TELEVISION, IE. 24 HOURS. Television drama is no substitute for reality and research.

There is a high likelyhood that a certain captured terrorist knows vital info about an impending terrorist attack that is intended to kill 1000 innocent children, and the only way to extract this info is to use enhanced coercive interrogation techniques.
Do you?
a) Use the enhanced interrogation techniques.
b) Sacrifice the children.

Actually if you read the memo's that were released, they state that the techniques were used in 3 different cases, including against Khalid Sheik Mohd., and they produced valuable info. Of course there's no expectation that 100% of the info will be reliable, and none can be used in court, but they will be prosecuted with the evidence they had upon capture.
And you think that the comfort of terrorists is more important than 1,000 children's lives, no wonder Osama calls us the "weak horse".

-Torture is nothing close to sitting in a cell. That is confinement. Sensory deprivation, or solitary confinement, those are conderred torture in some areas. You have no problem with locking a person in a box with no light or human contact?

Azlanzi really read up on WW2, I mean my grandpa told me that captured Japanese prisoners were interrogated much worse. On the battle field, time was limited and captured Japanese had their fingers cut off, shot in the leg, anything to get information out. After they got any info they blew their brains out. War's tough. I don't think you have the balls to do any of that, In WW3 you'd break down like a baby and cry until you were shot or thrown on the front lines, good luck being a real man.

If an american soldier was capture and he had information involving security... Would you expect him to tell hte truth when torture, or to lie?
If we the army new someone was capture with important information, would you expect them to change the plan to avoid any problems.
It took them 'years' to break down John McCain.
I understand you're not an American, but in our bill of rights, we're against unusual punishment.. and we agreed torture was wrong.
