  • HOLY CRAP I JUST READ THE BOOK AND ALMOST PEED MYSELF WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS A MOVIE :D But I pictured everyone differently... Except for Dr. Finch, he looks identical to the image I built up mentally!

  • There is an amazing quote from the book that I really love, "I myself am made entirely of flaws, sewn together with good intentions"

  • they forgot to mention Gwyneth Paltrow

  • Ok, so were in the book does it say that natalie is fat? I remember reading a part where it said she was a big girl, but i took it as she was tall for her age...please let me know where in the book it says that. thanks. :)

  • this is the craziest book i ever read!!!!!!!!

  • augusten reminds me of kurt from glee.

  • i'm reading this book but i didnt feel like finishing so i just wanna watch the movie :D

  • lol only 240p but HD in the title

  • God fucking forbid anyone make a god damned movie with a fat girl in it.

  • Stay strict with your behavior , there are plenty of psychiatrist whom you should not meet.

  • i love ryan murphy!!!

  • HD?

  • AUGUSTEN AS JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT. ANYONE WITH ME?

  • this book was really really good, as well as the movie. i also liked his book 'A Wolf At The Table'. that should be made into a movie as well. :D

  • this is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. I adored the book and the movie was good too, so stop hating on it!

  • wasn't Augusten like 12 when he moved into the Finch's house. Ntalie's hair was described as a dull brown and she ws slightly overweight.... it bothers me just a little bit. The house isn't nearly as raunchy as I thought and they didn't make just a skylight they torn down the ENTIRE ceiling and THEN added the light. Also, Mr. Finch was fatter in my mind.

  • I had envisioned Hope as more of a Zooey Deschanel or Emily Blunt. And while Evan Rachel Wood has Natalie's strong character, I think that Natalie's weight is kind of an important part of her nature, and that it plays a tremendous role in explaining her behavior and demeanor (aside from hailing from a dysfunctional family, of course).

  • I read the book and I've pictured everything different.. The house was more squalor. And sickening. I pictured Dr. Finch a larger man. I picture Agnes as a hunch-back old woman. Natalie, a chubby girl. Hope, with darker hair and more mature looking. His mother, crazier. His father, skinny and wirey. Augusten a kid not as clean-cut while living with The Finchs'. And where on earth is Bookman, Dorothy, and Fern? I haven't seen the movie yet.. But, I plan to..

  • Im watching this just cause of Evan Rachel Wood.Huzzah!

  • good film

  • this seems like a nice movie, i actually just read a book with the same title. it was really good, but it's probably too inappropriate for whoever made this. someone should let them know it's really misleading to all the big kids who read the same thing i did.

  • GRANN PELICULA

  • i just finished the book like five seconds ago I CANT BELEIVE ITS A MOVIE WOOOHOOO

  • @fuckgod666forlife Gay aren't all womanish. I'm gay, and, trust me, i'm a boy proud to be boy ='D

  • @fuckgod666forlife Then just watch the movie to see if he's too womanish for you or not

  • haahahahaaa!!! I laughed all the way through!!!

  • @fuckgod666forlife How about just watching the movie and stop worrying about something as dumb as the sexuality of the actors? Your comment makes no sense, seriously. How does it change anything to know if they are straight, gay, bisexual or I don't even know what? Their ability as actors is all you can judge them for.

  • WTF. It said Natalie and the other one were like.. 13 and 14 in the book. the actor looks.. 18 or something. Doesn't fit at all.

  • I was pissed when I saw the actress playing natalie because in the book she was a chubby messy girl. Damn shallow hollywood!

  • this movie is weird lol its really long but over all pretty funny not so bad.

  • thiiiis seeems boring . I hate that actor :D

  • OMG¡¡ ITS KURT OF GLEE

  • SPOILER ALERT. If you are thinking of watching this movie, don't watch the trailer, because it shows the whole fucking storyline. Just believe us when we say that it's a great movie that everyone should watch.

  • saw this yesterday and i love it. have to buy it on dvd ^^

  • Im almost done with the book.. this movie looks like crap, doesnt connect or feel the real emotion. just looks like a comedy l (sigh) *-*

  • Ahhh I just got chills... I just got done with this book and I just put this move into my netflix cant wait!!

  • his brother isn't in here at all

  • the little boy (jack kaeding) is my step cousin OMG!!!!!! he's 14 now. thumbs up if u think thats awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Isn't Natalie supposed to be fat?

  • ronan parke..

  • The book was humeous although extremely tragic, this seems like a light comedy. :(

  • This is a movie where the first hour is really funny, but the second hour just gets really weird and stupid.

  • @haleyteddy03 on the contrary!! THIS MOVE "PROGRESSES" ur just "Regressed" lo!!

  • just finished watching this for the first time, and it was actually a really great movie! it drew me in so much. I couldn't stop watching it. it had ton of surprises, good acting, and good directing! it surprises me that people don't like it so much

  • they didn't say gwyneth paltrow's now at the end, hahahah

  • I'm reading the book right now, and it's simply amazing and truely touching!

  • "According to Hope, Freud died of kitty leukemia. According to me, Freud died from being trapped under a laundry basket for four days without food or water."

  • whats the song at 0:31

  • better than Running With Scissors is a simliar story, less known, but much more entertaining and compelling. "One Way Ticket to Anywhere." I got it on Amazon.

  • Comment removed

  • song at the end? anyone?

  • @PoisonTester really?! you dont know??? lolol its benny and the jets by elton john hahaha

  • @AimeeShareOn haha thanks

  • @PoisonTester Elton John - Bennie and the jets

  • worth watching?

  • Augusten Burroughs is my favorite author. i have all his books. this book is probably the best one. to me, this book was really funny. it was weird & what not but still the way he described it he made it sound funny & really humorous. & i don't know if it's just me but this trailer makes it look like a comedy but to me this movie was very depressing. the book made it sound funny but the movie was really sad & very depressing. i cried a lot during the movie. am i the only one that thinks this?

  • it seems the movie doesn't show augusten relationship with one of doctor finch adopted.. i cant remember his name right now

  • what is the song towards the end of this trailer?

  • @fatbabiess Benny and the Jets by Elton John

  • eh...I'm about half-way through the book right now. the movie has some really great actors but I'm not going to bother watching it. The tone is completely wrong.

  • @Treeefingers

I'm halfway through the book, too, and I completely agree!

  • awful movie, really, don't see it :S ...good actors but bad movie...

  • this book is really fucked up

  • is this movie good i have it and am thinking of watching it tonight

  • "I think it brings a much needed sense of humour into the kitchen."

How could he not say that and laugh?!?

  • The trailer makes the story seem light and humorous, which is the total opposite, with the exception of some parts. I definitely won't be seeing this, I'll probably get mad watching it.

  • i used to love joseph cross in jack frost!!!! that was my favorite movie as a kid. i just hope this movie doesnt ruin it:(

  • hated the movie, despite really wanting to like it. Loved the book, although Wolf at the table is by far my favourite Augusten Burroughs book. Now should they turn that one into a film, I would be elated

  • boring! my running with scissors video is much better check it out

  • .... during the shock therapy part... they dont have tje other cousin siater person.... disapointing....

still wanna see the movie... to me it seems like it might be good an close to the book... forgeting a few mis-casts :)

  • 10 minutes ago i absolutely wanted to watch the movie

and now, after i watched the trailer, i don't want anymore. this is not a bit like the book!

  • @SharZwina THERE'S A BOOK?!!

  • @beloit22 yeah, there are so damn many books... okay, i think about 10

but they are so great, i love them... first i only read the german translations, because I'm german... but now I only read the English ones... and I can say, Augusten Burroughs is the King :D

And the best ist, that this is all true :o

  • @beloit22 ....yes

  • This trailer looks like trailer of funny, light, optimistic commedy.

The movie is very sad and hmm 'heavy'??

  • ouch! they never mentioned Gwyneth Paltrow

  • awwww...

    i just finished the book.

this looks like a dissapointment :(

    shucks.

  • @LavenderLipss ON THE CONTRARY!! THIS MOVIE IS THE SHIT!! This is the only DVD I ever bought!! (the rest i get thru "other' means)

  • @LavenderLipss yeah...

  • @Timeforthaunted hahahaha funny funny you got me! im such a sucker

  • This doesn't look a thing like the book.

  • this is nothing like the book. they've made the doctor's family look glamorous when they're nothing but trash in the book.

  • Good movie, even more amazing book. My review.

  • I just downloaded Bennie and the Jets before I looked at this trailer...what a coincidence. LoL...so weird.

  • I found a site that lets you stream this movie for free its called yslides

  • They made Augustine and Natalie way too old

  • @twilight23gardens yeah he's like thirteen and fifteen through the whole book and she's fourteen and sixteen...until the end and at the beginning.

  • @twilight23gardens

and they didn't make natalie fat.

  • @twilight23gardens i know! and natalie isn't even fat. he's suppose to be 13-14 of age. wow

  • The movie was alright though I don't think she trailer really captures how disgusting a story 'Running with Scissors' is. This kind of makes it seems like a 'tongue and cheek' comedy =p I'd recommend the movie- but definitely read the book. So much was left out.

  • What's the song at the end?

  • @tania480 Benny and the jets by Elton John

  • The movie was alright but they left out a lot of good stuff from the book

  • lol, i love the book, and i hope the movie is good

  • butchered the book. but doesnt every movie

  • BEST MOVIE EVUHR

  • Such a bizarre movie. I'd never heard of the book or the writer but I saw this with someone I know, wow talk about disturbing. Some of it was pretty entertaining though.

  • Just finished the book. I wish I hadn't seen the movie first. I expected most of the insanity, so I feel as if I was robbed of an exciting reading experience. Great book and movie, even though, yes, the book is much better. It's too bad a bout Neil Bookman.

  • What a load of crap this movie was. I love Augusten Burroughs. He's one of the greatest novelists I have come across in recent times, and his books keep getting better and better. I only wish that the movie had captured the undertones of his ironic humor that are clearly present in the book. But unfortunately, the director seemed to put his own yearning for creative individuality ahead of the veracity of Augusten's sincere, though sometimes disturbing, recollections.

  • The book was a surprise... So funny. Reminded me somehow of hotfuzz...

  • the book was actually messed up.

  • the movie looks more comical. the book was totally fucked up.

  • It's not comical so much as bittersweet :) But I think that the advert makes it look kinda lighthearted and obviously some of the stuff about paedophilia and oral sex got edited out..

  • that song is "the staunton lick" by lemonjelly

  • the book was awesome i loved it but the movie looks way different i hate when they do that but i still wanna see it ^^

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that starts up about 20 seconds in?

  • just finished the book and loved it!(:

but.... the movie looks very different.

    natalie's not FAT!

  • the book was really good--this doesn't look as good, but it still looks alright.

  • this guy!!!! joseph cross is a f@$%ing twin of kurt in glee!!!

  • @weeddude25 Yes he does especially at 2:16 He also looks a bit like Neil Patrick Harris and John C. Reilly.

  • @weeddude25 First thing I thought when I saw him!! lol

  • @weeddude25 duudee i agree i first thought that he was kurt from glee

  • my moms reading the book and wont stop cracking up! XD

  • :/ the movie doesn't look as good as the book was.

  • Im currently reading the book, not sure if the movie will be as good though but I'll give it a shot at some point.

its such an insane story lol

  • "hope how dare you come in here this is my masterbatorium!!"

  • this is one of the best movies everrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!XD

  • they missed stuff in the movie that they had in the book

  • I actually laughed through most of the book. It does have it's disturbing and very depressing parts, but I think it's supposed to come off as humorous.

I mean, we all have our opinions.

  • i´ve been reading the book and i´m almost done. it seems that there is some diferences, but, anyway, it looks awesome. i have to watch it

  • At least the characters look alot like they're described in the book.

  • no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no its not like that at all! this makes the story look funny! its supposed to be depressing! gah that sucks... i was looking forward to a kick ass movie after i finished the book but now... id rather not

  • what??? are you nuts! I laughed so hard the whole time I read the book!!! Augusten is so funny!!! where's your sense of humor?

  • hes making fun at how depressing his life is,its supposed to be ironic because his mother writes to be depressing

  • This was the most disturbing yet BEST books that I've read. Can't wait to see the whole movie.

  • they dont look as disfunctional as the book describes. and their house looks really nice 0_o

  • I loved this film, don't know the book. Great cast!!

  • That looks awesome. I want to see it now.

  • Better than the book, I swear.

  • no-what? The movie was brilliant! It's like Ive just broken into this whole genre of weird films I was never told about! This is just a freaky movie, right up there with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I give it ten out of ten stARS

  • To bad it was a very boring and pointless film( I am not saying anything against the book itself, I hear the book is good). Every single funny moment was in that trailer I kid you not.

  • omg. fantastic film seen it already at "bigmovies4free", anybody else seen it? enjoyed it from start to finish

  • the movie doesn't look half as twisted and CRAZY as the book was.

  • Natalie is supposed to be fat. But otherwise it looks good lol

  • That actually makes me mad. Trust Hollywood to skinny up everyone. :\

  • haha just finished reading the book awhile ago and now that i've seen this i remember vaguely seeing it

  • Ooo... so I just finished the book and I loved it. Now I really want to see the movie. It looks really good.

  • i thought the book was hilarious. the fact that he had a horrifc life and could still make fun of it was great.

  • produced by Brad Pitt? lol

  • cant wait to see it.

  • The movie is soo funny xD

    x

  • can't believe the movie looks so funny! The book was dark and depressing he had a retarted life

  • i agree!!

but, believe it or not, Augusten Burroughs intended the memoir to be comedic!

i didnt catch his sense of humor...

  • me neither

  • haha

so we made a sky light.

    haha :D

  • i love this movie =]

  • me too

  • I watched this movie for the first time last night, it was AWESOME!! I loved it....

  • what is the song at the very end????

  • bennie and the jets by elton john

  • good movie. i love evan rachel wood! (:

  • Comment removed

  • where's the Dry movie?? that would bea depressing film though..

  • Not even close to the insanity of the book. I mean they aged evveryone up so that it would seem more appropriate. I mean, the doctors mansion was a shithole and it was more the deranged category of Tyler Durden's condemned home. I think the movie sugar coated how sick their lives really were. The more deranged events took place between ages 12 and 14. Everyone here looks more like they're 17 and up

  • I'm sure this was a difficult movie to cast. The characters that the actors are portraying are meant to be the age that corresponds to the book. But older actors probably needed to be cast because not many parents would allow their children to play these roles (they probably wanted some big names as well, so that also might have had something to do with who was cast). And yeah, they sugar-coated things but all the crazy events from the book can't be shown in a movie. There's not enough time.

  • it was so sad and depressing...i hated that movie it made me feeling lik crap after i watched it

  • I'm halfway through the book and feel the same way! Don't know if I can actually finish it...

  • so is the whole neil thing the same in the movie as it is in the book?

  • So I'm almost done with the book and I was looking into watching the film, but I have to say, I am deeply angry that there's no Vickie, and I barely saw Neil! And Joseph is lovely but not my first choice, but hell, I'l probably love it. [:

  • i love this movie...

but the book still beats it by farrrr.

  • what happened to the other sister? i forget her name. haha

  • This was funny at parts, but still really dark, I enjoyed it but it's kind of scarred me, it's incredible how some people are deprived of a happy childhood =/

  • Which song is playing in the background at the end?

I read this book a long time ago and liked it

The the movie wasn't much like the book I enjoyed it very much :)

  • The Song at the end is "Benny And the Jets" by Elton John.

  • Thanks so much

  • I love the book and the movie...but if i had to choose i would say the book is better =)

  • good movie but the book is way better!

  • i haven't read the book

and i absolutely loved the movie

  • This is one of the craziest movies I've seen (I haven't read the book)

  • Oh wow, this looks like it would take a completely different angle to the book.

The book was so dark and disturbing.... this looks funny.

I guess I'll have to watch it.

    The book was brilliant though.

  • It is funny but in a disturbing way....dark humour.

  • NOOOO

The house is no where as messy as it should be!!

  • this movie looks like it totally BUTCHERS the novel arrrgggghhh
