  • @winslynn WOWEE YOU'VE LIVED THE LIFE PEOPLE ONLY DREAM ABOUT.xxxxx GO JANIS GO!!!!!

  • I love these top comments as well I did the whole drug scene for many many years, I am now also clean and sober and have been for 23yrs God is good, why do some of us half to die who knows but this girl was talented cute funny and so so sad we lost her. life is very fragile

  • I can't help it.... I just LOVE this song ( always have )...it is a great song, but nobody has done it any better than Janis . We miss you Janis... we loved you " back then "... and we still love you today .

  • awesome

  • I really enjoyed your video! Good stuff!

I am considering placing a small advertisement for Janis Joplin memorabilia! Can we have a discussion about this?

    Phil K

  • It was a long time ago...I still enjoy her songs.

  • DIVINA!!! DIOSA!!!

  • Most of the time a person has to realize that death is right around the corner before anything can be done about it.Janis never knew what hit her,she never saw it coming.I saw it coming and was able to evade it with some help from good people.

  • @winslynn Newcastle Brown can sure smack you down.....

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Pencilpoint7s she died 42 years ago are you on crack or dope thats got to be it dope

  • i have had two lives as well, we really are blessed people,

  • una gran voz que vivio en un mal momento.

  • I just... can't beleive that she died

  • This woman was very talented, we all miss her............

  • Why post this vid if you are going to restrict it from play lists ? I say BOOOOO on you m0thman666 :(

  • Gets better every time i hear it

  • man, all gone too soon, Janis, Jim, Jimmy, Kirk, Amy...too many, so talented...

  • @LipstickWarrior1 Kirk? Are you talking about Mr. Cobain? KURT Cobain? ;) Or is there a Kirk that I don't know about? Lol

  • @MsAwesomeBianca

yah sorry, Lol, Kurt Cobain, I should really stop drinking and typing

  • Joplin was one ugly chick. BUT...there was something about her. A beauty that transcended her looks. That woman had soul. I know women, and I bet you dimes to dollars she was a damn good fuck. I would have hit it long and hard & treated her good. What a tragic figure--she only wanted to be loved. But her music lives on. And she does have love, always. We love you Janice! Rock on!

  • Mr Fangole .So wrong. I lived it. San Fran, NY, Joplin. All of it. The only reason it happened is due to the lack of parental direction, morals and structure. There was no leadership. Children could set there own direction but to where? Drugs and alchohol? Yeah and I did it all. There is a better way. I promise. I know. Jesus Christ, get to know him.

  • @eggsem Fangole may be romanticizing those times, but you are a fucktard for thinking your stupid religion is any better.

  • i never got this song untill now. not on the level she meant it. I was her boby mcgee. I never got married again. at least i can say that. damn, i'm a bitch.

  • You know feeling good was good enough for me...

  • For those of you who don't know or have been living in a cave, the reason Bobby left her was that he caught her making love to another woman in Salinas, California. Yep, Janice swung both ways. Seems that Janice didn't tell Bobby all of her deepest, darkest secrets. Opps!

  • WHY WASNT I BORN THEN! IM SO MAD!

  • Hello youtube, this is Jewels, I am new to youtube, but not to music. I just started my channel, and while I may be young, I admire this generation of music. I am a singer myself and I play the acoustic. If anyone here watching this video, would like to hear an unknown voice sing this song, please check me out. I wouldn't ask of anyone's time, if I believe it was being wasted. Nobody may even see this comment, then again they may, so I want to thank anybody who takes the time to view me. -Jewels

  • @ThisIsJewels Checked out your video and you suck. Thanks for wasting my time.

  • I lived in this revolution. We fought war. I believe the time has come again.

Now we need to fight greed, government corruption, and war.

I now understand what Jefferson meant about each generation should have a revolution.

Corruption and greed are just a couple of these battles.

Joplin was wrong that freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

Revolution is the solution for the majority that have nothing left to lose.

As I thought then I do so now.

  • @sfreeland7 That's not what she meant by that line.

  • Port Arthur Texas...land of little country snob geeks who didn't realize the only person that'll ever come from that sorry place was Janis! Thanks for nothing!

  • It is ashame that most popular singers become addicts and destroy their lives or even go too far such as Janis did

  • @6662Tim

She wouldn't have been as powerful of a musician without the drugs tho...

  • @frenzuh1 You're a moron. If anything, the drugs cut her short. Hater.

  • Nothing like some real good down home OH MY!!!! Rock it out...

  • My father was a huge fan of joplin's, often singing this song off key and out of tone. He died 6 days ago and we played this song at his funeral. "Freedoms just another word for nothin' left to loose" There's truth in those lyrics.

  • These were the times when singers paid attention to lyrics also. Didn't just write - boom boom POW and singthat repeatedly..

    Respect.

Despite she sounds like and old lady who has been smoking and drinking all of her life i still love her voice and music.

  • great song<3

  • God forgive the motherfuckers from Janis Joplins childhood (& every moron in between ) who convinced her she was ughly Poor girl she allowed those imbeciles to define who she was She saw herself only thru their eyes ( the eyes of ignorant one dimensional rednecks ) HOW TRAGIC that Janis didnt realise she was always better than them .....from birth to death

  • @ZEITGEISTism if those people hadn't teased her like that she might not have been who she was...she always sang from the painful side of her soul...the part where she felt like no one understood who she was...if it hadn't been for them...we would not have had the beautiful music that she shared with us...that music came from pain...always remember that!!! Rip beautiful lady!!!

  • love this song:)

  • this girl make me insane♥

  • That's da MOMA!

  • don't mean to be a downer on such a FANTASTIC song, but how in the hell does this have 27 dislikes?

  • Comment removed

  • she was beautyiful and talented. A real artist. Like jim Morrison and Hendrix. We don't have that kind of artistry much these days....what a shame. But real art never dies. Gonna go home, smoke a joint and raise my glass for good old washioned peace, love and rock'n'roll!

  • /watch?v=cTBNCRzdKCs

    nice performance

  • THIS IS ROCK

  • I saw her perform in Chicago and I admired the drug lifestyle then.I've had a chance to live two lives in one lifetime since then, one life using and abusing and one life clean and sober. Not too many people get the chance I've had and I'm greatful.Ah!Those were exciting times back in the day,it's a miracle I survived. She didn't,life is fragile.

  • @winslynn I hear you I lived both too but I was born in the 60's , I was addicted to alot of stuff had the strength to quit cold turkey and lived and happy to be alive alot of my friends died using.

  • @winslynn funny you should mention that it is a miracle you survived as i feel the same way. so we are both very lucky

  • @winslynn Been there. Done that and am also grateful.

  • @winslynn

Meh...I did a lot of acid in the 60's, went to Vietnam and did a shitload more, then college in the 70's and did a FUCKLOAD more.

Got off the mind twisting shit psychedelics and got into meth in the 80's, kept it up until I turned 50 in 2002, then gave all that shit up.

Now I wish I could do it all over again.

    But I'm 60 and can still run a mile,do 20 chin-ups, so I got no complaints.

  • @winslynn Yes, I to shit my pants and barrfed on the bar a time or two. May the good times roll.

  • if you think this is country

look up the word Blues in the dictionary

or listen up at the 3 minutes point on this video. it ROCKS

    Bahahahaaa

    <3 Janis

  • what a beautiful woman with such talent..to be consumed with excess of drugs, sex and too much rock! she lives on in her music but her early death was a loss to all.

  • This sounds like a song you would hear on a country music station. Great song though. Janis Joplin was such a trendsetter!

  • love it

  • a queen

  • so wish i could seen her live

  • some of the individuals commenting about Janis, simply don't have a clue about the time (era)

  • Hey Janis, how are things in Rock 'n' Roll and Blues Heaven? You are the epitome of who our generation was, however the majority sold out. Those of us remaining either stayed the course in our attempt to recreate the past, or strayed down the path of drug and alcohol abuse! Makes me sick to think about all the wasted talent, vision and time, too bad there aren't do-overs available.

  • She was sooo HER! I loved her then and I love her now! She sure made an impact on women in the music world and showed us girls we can do whatever the hell we want to!!! Love you Janis!!!

  • Love you Janis

  • Janis was only on this earth a short time... I am one who admired and appreciated her during that time. She was a talent way B/4 her time , and misunderstood. But once you hear that voice. and her story telling through song.....you were hooked........On Joplin.......KC

  • beautiful :') This is my first time hearing this woman! I wish I heard her sooner.

  • Happy late B-day Janis, I Iove you so much!!

  • hands down, my fave fem singer after Madonna! uh...no, not really, the Madonna part was a joke, of course.

  • the original screaming idiot...I blame her for the screaming divas of today

  • @MegaRangerfan1 The Diva's of today don't scream, they multi track whine in false yankee swamp blues pretext of "musical shite". God Bless Janis.

  • @MegaRangerfan1 Figure you enjoy bacteria.....only culture you will ever have.....

  • @lifebdrop1 I assume you were one of the free love, hippie era folks who eventually made sure that parents of today can not discipline their children... but no matter what you write, she screamed like a banshee for most of her songs... really did like the bacteria/culture comment, very clever

  • What a f*!%$ng awesome voice. Anyone who is so shallow that they comment about her looks needs to figure out why they listen to music. I see a beautiful woman with a talent I could only dream of, Janis you are one of the legends.

  • Shes not the best looking woman, but her voice and soul makes her hot!

  • this song makes my heart ache.

  • he number one song when I was born

  • Happy Birthday Pearl

  • happy birthday

quick question to 25 people, how fat do your fingers have to be to hit dislike on this? You could not possibly have done it on purpose.

  • @quidda1 Why not?? I make a bet megarangerfan1 hit the dislike o purpose.

  • Happy birthday Janis!<3:)

  • Show this to the tw8ts auditioning for X-Factor

  • love this song, listening to it today, what would have been your 69th birthday, wow, wonder what new music you could have made 19.01.43xx

  • .Janis, all that I can say is Thank You from the bottom of hearth.

  • To live in a generation that was driven by peace and love. We saw the world change because of will, rock & roll, sex and drugs. The bond that was felt by an entire generation is reflected in this single song, a song that speaks of the souls and spirit of the people who struggled to understand the miseries of those times. My soul is touched every time I hear this, a feeling that sends a shiver down my spine to rattle my simple reality.

  • @MrFangole i think i have been reincarnated..mate

  • @MrFangole IO was there and most of what you cite is revisionist history.

  • @stevestlmo but I love Janis's music and this Kris K song.

  • @MrFangole Haha it wasn't all that holy--Good times to be an upper class/upper middle class white who could do whatever the fuck you wanted. Now they're called business men and yuppies, lolz. You're romanticizing the shit out of those times and that generation, man. But I understand why...

Woodstock was the greatest party of all times.

  • from the coal mines in Germany "ZecheBonifatious " fmjba@ hotmail.com Jurgen

  • What a vocalist!

  • wow. that was a great song...i forgot that it was that good..it got better when i got older...lol

  • Won't you belive the same dude has the two top comments. Respect

  • Why do worthless "celebrities" get to be mentioned on real music pages? What did they ever do to deserve it? Maybe if we all stopped writing their names everywhere and start spreading the big names instead, the world would get to listen to some real music.

Come on people, let's weed out Youtube and keep it clean :D

  • che era solo una buona.....

  • Talent comes in many different ways, Katy Perry to Janis Joplin to whoever will come next.

  • She was beautiful and still is

  • A true One of a kind voice Janis forever loved a legend

  • unica .....fantastica........inimitabile.........GRANDE JANIS

  • janis was golden and it is so sad life could not have been nicer to her. She is still missed by so many of us. God Bless her.

  • a lot of old hateful bastards on this page

  • Love Janis!

  • dunno why i never noticed what a pretty body Janis had.. :(

  • She sings like NOBODY before and AFTER.... Just GREAT song and performance.... R.I.P.

  • There will always be critics to everything. They try to hurt everyone else's joy in life. I personally don't care about what anyone else says about this song or about Janis, she was strong, and she faltered due to the burden of life. She helps me get through tough times, as she is a champion for people who know what it is like to be down and out. As long as I am alive, there will always be a Janis Joplin vinyl record in my house.

  • this song sucks! she sounds like a farting inbread pig. or is she one already?

  • @ramonrobalino this song most certainly does not suck u fckn retard....."inbread pig"? god u must b the inbred pigfucker . janis is, was, and always will b the queen so hw abt u jst stick to fckn the farting pigs u no count motherfucker b/c u sure the fck dnt knw shit abt good music....BITCH!!!

  • @sadygirl18 well ain't you a dandy, your parents must be oh so proud

  • @sadygirl18

Just read your comment, you can't even complete a sentence. Janis is awesome, you are ignorant, try to spell complete words dipshit.

  • @ramonrobalino Hahahahahaha. Stupid people saying stupid crap makes me happy :)

  • of course it's kristofferson's song. you could say it's roger miller's song because he recorded it first. but everybody and their brother (or sister) recorded it including kristofferson himself. but what janis did was take a VERY country song and give it a huge blues/ soul feel that is the biggest reason i like the song. it make me think she could take the lamest, most boring song in the world and bring a tear to you eye with it.

  • My name's Cherry, so I'll take this as my own.

  • This is Kris Kristofferson's song.

  • incomparable.

  • @mamasaredneck you are so right, and your line 'she still lives within all who love her' is exactly true for me. I don't need to add any more to that-you summed it up very well! ☺

  • "... one day in Salinas I let him slip away."

  • GOD I LOVE THIS WOMAN VOICE SO DAMN MUCH! I grew up to her songs!

  • ageless and timeless classic . "only the good die young "

  • Inen over ingen under

  • Janis dead? she's not dead. As long as people keep listening to her music, She's immortal.

  • There will never be another Janice she was awesome and she still lives within all who love her :-) I love her music and her she had soul wen she sang she put all into it!!

  • I LOVED JANIS" ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS EVER BORN!!!!!! R.I.P.JANIS NEVER QUIT LISTENING! TOO YOU!! FLY WITH THE ANGELS !!

  • She grew up just one town over from mine. Wished I could have known her when she went to T.J. High School. Way before my time though.

  • Thank you Cap285 for words that were never more true.

  • @60talula You're welcome.

  • All My Love!!! "TO THE QUEEN & KING OF ROCK & ROLL" Love you Janis. Erik Exner!!! AKA KEVIN TAYLOR.............

  • All My Love!!! "TO THE QUEEN & KING OF ROCK & ROLL" Love you Janis. Erik Exner

  • lovlovlov her

  • Dear God,

We will trade you Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale for one Janis Joplin. We ask this in your name. Amen.

    Respectfully yours, Cap

  • @Cap285 Dear God I will give you my wife and kids for Janis.. Amen

  • @BobbyBRIAN100 idiot

  • @Cap285 Don't lump Lady Gaga in with the rest of those. You may understandably dislike her style, but she actually has a whole lot of talent.

Which can't be said for the others.

  • @mpbsmithaa Wow. That says alot about your taste in music. Janis, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett have all shit more talent than Lady Ga Ga will ever have. I will lump her in with who I like.

  • @Cap285 My taste in music? It's incredibly wide and varied. In other words I'm an open-minded individual.

Unfortunately, however, the subject of talent has little or nothing to do with music taste. I can, for example, laude many death metal drummers for their incredible ability - even though most death metal sounds like shit to me.

Similarly, we should be able to acknowledge that - irregardless of our preferences - Lady Gaga displays pleasing vocal characteristics like vibrato and range.

  • @mpbsmithaa Yak, yakety, yak. She's still just the Madonna of the 21st century, uses shock value for publicity and is a douche. What you call 'pleasing' I call a screeching cat. And I'd sure as hell trade her and all those people I saw at that awards show two weeks ago to have Richard Wright back.

  • @Cap285 hell, i would trade the four of them for 1 more SONG like this (sung by Janis, written by Kris) credit where credit due
