I'm happy I found this on here. I find it interesting how much equipment has changed in just the past 20 years or so. I mean look at the modern Delta Soldier or Ranger the gear they rocj is quite different. Also I find it kind of of funny how the guys were rocking 3 different camouflage patterns - Woodland, Chocolate Chip and Tri-color. I wonder if its just because of preference or not enough to go around.

I've read the "book" which is a bunch of confirmed reports of soldiers, Commanding Officers and eye-witnesses...Examples from the excerpts, how the Somalies were driving paralel with the convoy and a soldier took an RPG through the door of his Humvee, in the chest with the fins sticking out and the Somalies shoot at each other (idiotaically killing each othe by accident!) because Americans were caught up in a cross-fire between them.

With that said, I am no fan of Assad but looking at the results of the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya i know they kill even more than the oppressors and then it creates new oppressors. These wars arent for the people of any nation.

@TheNavySEALS87 Delta force was new to the army back then. Mogadishu was almost a chance for the the Delta force to prove them selves but it went horribly wrong. as of now Delta force stands as one of the most elite teams in the US army

@thebigbea Delta was formed in '79. Mog was in '93. By then, Delta had seen action in Grenada, Panama, Iraq for Desert Shield/Storm, and many other butt ugly places in the world that we may never know about. I'd say they were pretty experienced by then. The mission went wrong after 6-1 was shot down, then it just cascaded from there. As a result, 19 good men died and many more were wounded.

I've read the "book" which is a bunch of confirmed reports of soldiers, Commanding Officers and eye-witnesses...Examples from the excerpts, how the Somalies were driving paralel with the convoy and a soldier took an RPG through the door of his Humvee, in the chest with the fins sticking out and the Somalies shoot at each other (idiotaically killing each othe by accident!) because Americans were caught up in a cross-fire between them.

ive read a book on the black hawk down incident that was writen by a navy seal who conducted operations during this incident. i was suprised learning how much they changed the real thing in this movie!!! a lot of it is fake or done some other way and they never even mention the seals. just not that, but how much delta and the rangers fucked up during there raids and other operations. but still...great movie

@OldBreedWarrior if you read actual book, Black Hawk Down, which was written by a reporter who was with Delta and actually got stuck in the city with them, this movie, is almost as true to the facts as hollywood can get...as for not mentioning the seals, they played almost no part in mogadishu

@MrRat5092 the seal that wrote that book, was in the same convoy with the rangers that got trapped in the city, he was friends with the pilots that got shot down, and he had worked with most of the delta operators in raids in the six weeks US forces we there. trust me, reporters like to change shit too, its there job. i would rather trust someone who fought. The book is called Secrets of Seal Team Six by Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin. get the book and read it, then talk to me
