If you really want to avoide using flash for low light event than a full frame camera with a fast prime lens ie 30-35 1.4 1.8 f2 are ideal. And you dont need to manual focus if you have in-built onboard focus assist which is a little light that will switch one when u press the shutter half way.
appriciate the efforts for making this video but manual focus and no flash for events is going to be very difficult. And if you are burst shooting hoping for the best you will end up with alot of work to do later in post production.
Nobody wants to talk to the Asian women. She is just sitting there having an occasional nip on the glass because she doesn't know what else to do :-( .
I haven't used auto focus in years, yes all my well just about all my lens are capable and I shoot Nikon so they too all have great auto focus functionality. Yet I never use it, ever! For me even the very best DSL won't get a proper focus that I can achieve via hand held and or tripod mounted manual focus.
Great video. Back in 2007 I started out with the Canon Rebel XT and I had a Sigma lens 17-70mm 2.8. It was good but the camera alway hunting for focus. I am not a pro but a self taught amateur. I always had my 430EX and 580 EX. why? All other point and shoot camera users ROCKED theirs. Just kept the flash diffused or straight up. Flashes are expected in the club then and now. Now, at weddings, you are so right. NO flashes. Thanks for the video. I subscribed!
I just started event an i tried to go flashless but I ended up introuble with my boss because of the high ISO are U saying the shallow dof will reduce the noise?
Very good video helps alot for people like me that are lerning new tips and tricks , it will be nice if u mention tha tipes of lenses that are best for this tipe of oacasion , or best for low light situasions. thanks.
I do a few events like this and another thing to keep in mind when choosing a lens to photograph an event like this is a fast focus and stabilization. Most lenses will identify if they have these features. I would rather use a lens with an f/2.8 or greater that is fast and stabilized than a prime lens that is f/1.4 without.
Great vid man, there is 1 parameter that people always 4get or try to disregard:the more u pay 4ur camera, the more freedom u get with higher ISO's, some cameras r disgracefull even on 400 ISO, so, if ur image isnt 4large print format u can still use high ISO's on the larger size so anything +5000 pixels wide when u shrink your photo all articrafts / grain disapear, so ur left with adjusting the white balance. Also try negotiating with the subjects not to move to give u less shutter speed.
Most of the photos look rubbish. Guess a bit extra light for faster shutter speeds might be advisable.
