this game was a bit out of hand but as an islander fan the islanders needed something like this to happen and just look how they played after it. now with a physical presence on the ice they look like a hole new team. And i can only hope for a new rivalry makes the game a bit more exciting.

My friend still has this on DVR :D I am a penguin fan so when they started to lose really really bad I was going to go do some chores around the house and just check in on the game....then the fighting started and I HAD to watch I was glued to the TV. That whole game was just ridiculous and I was PISSED at the Islanders, but looking back on it, I must admit I am laughing XD It was so stupid!

I'm sure the Islanders will try as hard as possible to make this a heated rivalry just so they can have something to look forward to in their seasons, but the Penguins have much better teams to play against in that division.

The Isles did what they needed to do. That was show the rest of the NHL teams who took advantage of them that they're not the "gimmie" automatic win/2 points that they look like they are. No one made any calls on the Tavares or Comeau hits. They were tired of being treated like crap.

@NationalFlare- I will say I think the Gillies hit was a tad bit overboard. He just came back the other night against the Wild and got himself a game misconduct for a major checking from behind. No doubt he'll get suspended again. What is your take on Talbot turtling when Haley, Konopka, and Martin went after him? Shouldn't he have realized he had a target on his back?

Reminds me of the Montreal-Boston game with 100+ PIM a week ago, this was probably easily 300+ PIMs, pretty intense fight between Dupuis and Baily also Johnson fights another Islander! You know, all the clubs are going to take advantage of Pittsburgh now because their completely star depleted, and Talbot was getting assaulted a LOT

Question: with star players out from injuries and only 30 or so games left, what do you think about the penguins chances for winning the cup? or making the playoffs?

@JRKface18 yeah that's why the Pens dominate the league in majors,lol.The Islanders were pissed because of 2 hits to their players (Phaneuf to Tavares and Talbot to Comeau,something like that) had not been called.It's really not that hard to understand how angry they must've been.Add the fact that the Pens were laughing like kids after the DP/Johnson fight.And everybody knows Bettman himself has the Pens back.The Islanders were simply standing up to that shit and good for them.
