The church could have been smart & used it as a tool to attract other christians, but i guess that never occurred to them. If Cleanliness is Godliness, that park is now the devils playground. Pretty ironic.
i miss this place. it was way better than any Family Fun Center as it had a THEME. even in the latter years when they added the waterslide, it was a wonderful place go play as an 80s kid! I read that the Church next door is to blame for the closing. The church was built AFTER the theme park, yet took the owners of the park to court so often for noise pollution that the owners had to sell the property. The church bought the property, locked the gates & & allowed everything to rust away.
How did you get in there? My Father owned this place back in the 1970-80's. He sold it and the buyer went belly up. Dad put in the bumper cars and a few other rides. My dad built several great parks over the years from L.A. to Here in San Diego. I Have tried to find the present owner. Marshall Scottys was such a great place and it's so sad that it is now a dump. If you know who owns the property please let me know. How sad this is that a place of fun just died without a reason.......It hurts
How did you get permission to go on the property? I've always wanted to photograph the place but I heard the land owners give people a pretty hard time about that.
So sad that Marshall Scotty's is in such a state. Whoever owns the property should be made to clean it up, at least. This was a fun place for so many families, when people enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Your name reminds me of a famous Nascar driver who probably went many times to Marshall Scotty's Playland Park.
I have not lived in Santee for over 11 years...your commentary is rude and disrespectful, Marshall Scotty's Playland Park was a wonderful place for the east county residents. Long before the freeway invasion and back when Mission Gorge Rd. was really the only way in our out and the beach was a "pack a lunch " all day trip this was our entertainment! This was sad. How did you gain access to the park? And why should you be so distasteful in your account of our retired treasure? Trespass much?
@badderthanyou Really? That is the extent of your reply? Well get used to mediocrity, as I will be willing to bet, your life and work will only be as much.
@KIMMIELYNNE777 The only thing mediocre-and that is being way too generous, are the schlepps I reply to on this video. Self centered, self righteous douche bags, such as yourself.
Show some respect for F*ck sake. This is Marshall Scotty's. It's a ghost town to you but it was heaven to poor kids who had nothing in the 70's. That waterslide was added in later days. There were cages with sad hot monkey's in them and I dreamed of this place every night and if we had enough money we'd get to go ride some rides or swim in the pool. Fu*king heaven.
@FingerBangFilms Yep, it was the Disneyland to us kids in the mid 70's to the early 80's. I asked my parents probably over 1000 times to go to this. That persistence yielded 3-5 trips that I won't forget. The go-karts and water slide were added in the late 80's or early 90's. I rode the go-karts in 1989 or 1990 when I went to Granite Hills. By then it was the only thing open.
@utenatenjo80 East County San Diego - technically in El Cajon but almost in Alpine. Of of Olde HWY 80. I once fell out of our truck a the intersection there - near the 7-11 and the Marechiaro's pizza joint. My sister still teases me for rolling through the intersection without letting go of my school books and homework! A true talent.

And I'd change the sad music to sounds of children laughing and screaming with delight. That's the sounds this park use to make. :)
