Nice, but I always worry when the good ol' knuckle busting fly fluwheel is uncovered, they can always propel a stray piece or two of hardware, fairly well.
I always like to hear an engine running. case in point the 10HP on my LL. LOL
@GrincheyOne Heya Buddy! Yeah.....I've been lucky so far. Typically, before putting the tins back on any engine I've been resurrecting I always test run first. The part that gets me is when I am using a drill to start them for the first time and to spin the engine fast enough to splash oil all over the internals, the drill sometimes kicks back HARD! But pull starting for the first time can wear out even Mr. Universe! lol...so I take my chances with the drill. Cheers Buddy!!
@oologahan Mostly from vendors at the Portland show, but if you know the bore size, most any small engine shop can get you rings. The pistons are a little harder to come by on the older engines, but I have set notifications on ebay for NOS parts that are hard to come by. Also......I'm always on the look out for parts engines on the cheap.
@NomaDairy Took a little finessing, but all is well that ends well! Have to clean out the gas tank, replace some gaskets and find a blower housing that the bottom isn't rusted out on, then I guess I'll start refurbishing all these old engines. Cheers!!
when it come to lawn and garden tires, I usually go straight to surrender for air leaks. I tube them and forget about them. 10 to 20 pounds of air isnt enough to seal a rim leak without a tube of snot.
@BornRandy62 The rim that tire is on has seen better days. Since that Landlord will be a parts donor, I'll most likely remove the tire for future use. I use bead sealer and give the tubeless tires a fighting chance most of the time. When I find checking on the tires, I'll do as you do and tube it and forget about it. Cheers!!
shroud looks just like the ones on old (ancient now) one lung brigs. I know where a twin cylinder 6 volt (positive ground) Wisconsin engine off an old Hagge crop sprayer. I got it running before the auction to try and keep the machine in service but they scrapped it out anyway. scrap iron prices at the time were too high. Used a 6 inch steel pipe for gas tank and frame backbone to carry the 300 gallon water tank.
@ZippoVarga it was a tri cycle set up with the front tire being the drive and steer tire. think big-mo lawn mower writ large! Motor set up front and drove the transmission and water pump thru a series of pulleys. Transmission drove by a variable speed pulley thru the 4 speed plus reverse gear box. Of course there were no guard covers and the operators seat was basically behind and slightly higher that the mechanics so if it spit out a belt you had a fairly good chance of wearing it.
@evilmini0n That depends on the year and engine Bro. You would need to match the engine models or at least check that the coils are same. Some of the newer coils are Magnetrons which don't require points. If you run into one of those, you have to keep the flywheel and coil together. They won't interchange with points activated coils and flywheels. The flywheels are polarized differently between the two types, which is why you need to keep the flywheel and coil as a pair. Cheers Bro!!!
Yes I will make it there no questions asked . That way I can see all the goodies you have . And see what all new ideas I will come up with oh wait like I have time for anymore ideas have enough projects on my plate then I can get done now and just need to mainly do my FEL is the biggest project next and your hitch
@osengasimplicity I'm psyched about the trailer hitch. Judging from your other work, I'm sure they'll be better than the stock ones!! Was great visiting you in the land of wind turbines!! We don't have anything like that here, but the beer is cold!! Cheers Bryan (and Family)!!
Sounds like it wasn't a huge amount of work to sort. Runs pretty damned good buddy! You should maybe think about restoring some of these old engines of yours
@CSAKvids I hope to get some of the rougher looking engines refurbished during the Winter down time. It will give me something to do besides hibernating..lol. Great hearing from you my good Friend!!
Hey zippo , it was great finally getting to meet you your daughter and chris. Glad to see it running and it is in good hands . And NO he never did make it lol. But we have to make a point together in warm weather and hang out again with some tractors . Thanks for coming up Bro. :)

@BornRandy62 I bet that was an odd looking set up! It wouldn't have gotten scrapped around here. Old iron lives on in my blood! Cheers!!
