You don't convert you're current toons into the death knight the requirement is that you have a lvl 55 or higher toon, and if you do that allows you to make a lvl 1 death knight. Also they only let you have 1 per server.

Ok I'm a little confused about the expansion. I was wonder about inscription, is it only for classes that use spells like mages and warlocks? Or can any class use it like warriors? If at level 55 you get deathkights but do you have to do the quest chain even if you don't want deathknight? I was reading about the expansion and it said something about a tauren type creature called taunka and I read about the tuskar.

It's an expansion pack and it hasn't come out yet. You have to have the original wow, then the burning crusade, then when WoTLK comes out, you can get that one :]

death knights are a special unlocked character class they start at 55 and from what i`ve picked up they work something like a cross between a warrior and a warlock they can tank but for some situations they won`t be as good for tanking as a traditional warrior or pally for tanking, they can also DPS via melee. now as for unlocking them u have to get a character to lvl 70 then the class will be unlocked
