For all you people who are interested in the life of Jim Morrison, DON'T take Oliver Stone's movie "The Doors" very seriously. It is factually decadent, and it served Stone's ego more than reality. The remaining Doors have critically lambasted the terrible portrayal of their singer and friend. Stone created an awful myth of his own, while ignoring key testimonials from the Doors and everyone else he himself consulted. He also took license with actual incidents, mixing fact with fiction.

I remember like yesterday watching the local evening news when the anchor said that Jim had died. I couldn't believe it at first. Then I felt the world crashing down.That wasn't the "day the music died", as they say, but it was my singer, man, and the Doors, my band, would never be the same. I was young and I guess you could say I idolized Jim. As a teenager, part of my life was Jim. I tried to look like him. It was tremendously sad. Then, I grew up faster, and not quite as happy as I once was.
In my opinion ' The Doors' music was a*****AWESOME blend of Jazz and Blues Rock. To stay true to this of blend of music; the songs if played with a slow beat would have sounded almost the same. The lyrics were what distinguished the songs invariably from eachother.

If Jim hadn't passed, I highly doubt we would've gotten more doors. My music professor saw them 6 times. He said the first time was the best show he'd ever been to, the 6th was one of the worst. @Archivalfootage if you catch the video at 2:25 - 2:27 in full screen view you will see only 2 mic cables coming out of the bottom of the "BLACK BURRITO" and 2 mic's sticking out on top ; and from the looks of the mic at close view it is an EV 635A & most likely a SHURE SM57 but it could be an old EV 670V which was black with a larger grill than the 57 ; due to the picture quality it's hard to tell ; I hope that helps some ;

@hegemoniuspiper yes at my smaller studios we have to be inventive sometimes "thinking out of the box" & revert to some old tricks & even create some new ones to get certain sounds when working within smaller confines to achieve bigger sounds of larger live rooms or having to deal with live sessions & micing with low cross talk from mic to mic for a clean recording session that will make the mix that much easier in the end to get that live energy the Beatles ,Stones , Floyd , & Doors created
thinking out of the box is always rewarding, today there's much concern about technology while creativity should be put first, and the sound comes from the heart
I used to do some session work back in the 4 and 8-track days (yeah, I'm that old). I'm no sound engineer, but I understand the Doors had to produce themselves for the last album and may not have have access to a soundproofed vocal booth. So, they instead sound-proofed the microphone(s), giving rise to the "bong" shaped device Morrison is singing into. Also, his hair is straight compared to the curls of the early days. I figure he must have permed his hair in the beginning.

For all you people who are interested in the life of Jim Morrison, DON'T take Oliver Stone's movie "The Doors" very seriously. It is factually decadent, and it served Stone's ego more than reality. The remaining Doors have critically lambasted the terrible portrayal of their singer and friend. Stone created an awful myth of his own, while ignoring key testimonials from the Doors and everyone else he himself consulted. He also took license with actual incidents, mixing fact with fiction.

I remember like yesterday watching the local evening news when the anchor said that Jim had died. I couldn't believe it at first. Then I felt the world crashing down.That wasn't the "day the music died", as they say, but it was my singer, man, and the Doors, my band, would never be the same. I was young and I guess you could say I idolized Jim. As a teenager, part of my life was Jim. I tried to look like him. It was tremendously sad. Then, I grew up faster, and not quite as happy as I once was.

@Archivalfootage if you catch the video at 2:25 - 2:27 in full screen view you will see only 2 mic cables coming out of the bottom of the "BLACK BURRITO" and 2 mic's sticking out on top ; and from the looks of the mic at close view it is an EV 635A & most likely a SHURE SM57 but it could be an old EV 670V which was black with a larger grill than the 57 ; due to the picture quality it's hard to tell ; I hope that helps some ;

I'm no sound engineer, but I understand the Doors had to produce themselves for the last album and may not have have access to a soundproofed vocal booth. So, they instead sound-proofed the microphone(s), giving rise to the "bong" shaped device Morrison is singing into. Also, his hair is straight compared to the curls of the early days. I figure he must have permed his hair in the beginning.

He moved to France to be a poet before he died, he was done with fame.
