In August of 1990 I knelt in a jail cell and the Son set me free.... All these years later, I now am privileged go into that same jail as a chaplain to help men get free also! If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, you will be free indeed! Thank you, SCC, for allowing the Holy Spirit to use you to pen this song and minister to people like me.....
My Dad committed suicide 5 months ago and it has been very hard for my family and I. He suffered with paranoia skitzophernia. This song was played at his funeral over and over and it has uplifted me to keep my head held high and that we are all set free in the wonderful name of Jesus ... Dad, you said you made peace with the Lord before you went and if so, May You Rest In Peace Dad. We all love and miss you.
@Redtailsr : If you re read what you've written, that just doesn't even make sense. If "something can never be taken away" why do you have to "give everything you have" to obtain it? You already have it to begin with.
@DckTrcy i'm not Redtailsr, but i will try to answer your question anyway. Redtailsr is most likely asking why WOULDN'T you give all of your worldly goods(which can be taken from you) in order to obtain ETERNAL SALVATION (which can NEVER be taken from you) while you will lose all that you own when you die, NOT EVEN DEATH ITSELF CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR SALVATION IT IS ETERNAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope i have answered your question. thank you.
Just remember to Praise the Lord in the storm and keep the faith.
Thank you to Ray and his family in New Jersey for those few days Ray was in prison reading that Bible which sparked my uncle to ask what he was reading. After Ray, who was falsely accused, was released, my uncle found the Lord and continued to spread the good word during his prison sentence and after he was released up until the day he died
You never know how your circumstances can change a life.
We are free indeed. We may lose all our material possessions, jobs, homes, etc. But we have been saved, we are a child of the most high God, and His son Jesus took all of our sins upon himself, and in doing so, opened the way for us to dwell forever in the presence of our Lord.
this song reminds me of what my lord and savior did for me and sets the fire in my soul again and brings tears to my eyes because I'm free he who the son sets free is free indeed.
Simply awesome. This song has always spoken to me, but now it means a whole lot more. One of the most influential, caring people in my life was sent to jail, and i'll probably never see him again. But I know that he was an awesome human being, and he loved the Lord. We had so much in common. This song gives me the hope that he will come to God again, and we'll reunite in heaven. Love u as a brother in Christ always (L)(L) Jesus set me free...
Knight2king3: Me too! 8 years inside... God is so good to us. We are living epistles, known and read by all men. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of salvation for all who believe. May God bless us all, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed!!
My father in law is in prison right now, so this song has special meaning for me. I hope he also can come to know what true freedom in Christ is before he is freed from prison, as only with that will he find true freedom.
This song has so much power. Steven Curtis Chapman is definately annointed. I thank God he is using his gift to minister. His music truly speaks to hearts of people including mine. Thank you so much for posting this!
Having been in the kind of place that this song speaks of.....well, I guess this one's kind of personal. Thank you for posting it here. May the G-d of Heaven continue to lead, guide and direct your every step.

Such a powerful song. This and My Jesus by Todd Agnew are by far and away my two favorite Christian songs, or any songs for that matter.
