While walking home from school, my 9 yr. old grandson was being taunted by a number of kids, some from high school level. He is small and a darling, but they called him names and threatened him. He told my daughter about it and shortly after, she parked on the side of the road and waited to see and sure enough it was true. It doesn't happen to my grandson anymore. His mama is a probation officer. Two squad cars later, problem solved.. Be an advocate. Help a kid.

Yes, I was very different. I wound up in a high school band that practiced hazing.

When I was beaten, I defended myself and the 'upper class men' ganged up on me. My skull was fractured in two places as a result.

Yes, she's very right. People who are different are often mistreated. And sometimes the mistreatment is very violent and physically abusive.

I was bullied at school also. I was oxygen deprived at birth.

It's tough when you have difficulty learning, mostly because you are belittled and humiliated more than encouraged.

Childhood bullying does stay with you forever.

The saddest part is that the childhood bullies have been replaced by the tabloids and adults like Amanda Holden and Sharon Osbourne who are both vile and disgusting.

@mskatiern Maybe it stays with you forever, but Susan has overcome it in a very big way. I imagine that that the teachers that belittled her and the students that abused her and now pretty embarrassed about.

The tough love is to share the truth. 15% of ppl are terrible. That includes teachers. We cannot allow evil ppl to dominate us. Or force us into degrading ourselves. Smiles come from within as we CHOOSE to smile. Happiness begins in our own spirit as we CHOOSE to be a happy person.

It is the #1 thing everyone must learn. We cannot allow a bully, a thief, a maniac or a liar to get away with harming us inside. Let Susan be your example. 6,000 were laughing. NOT NOW!!!

Ths s why i relate to her...my son has been in her shoes wth a disability. For those who think she should have thicker skin with how people make fun of her now...I say she has already suffered enough and in this day and age this is no excuse for the cruelty. Teachers are many times the biggest bullies, but no one wants to touch that one! Even if they can't use physical punishment, they use other means to humiliate certain children. My mother was a teacher for 34 years and no one could ever accuse her of being a bully so it took many years for me to see this. But it is true. I hope Susan's teachers are able to express their regret to her now!

Bullying must be repositioned as a case of police. Evil people do not stop if do not get punished. If they are free on school to bullying others, they will grow thinking that can do anything they want.

Bullying by teachers is worse, and a teacher that do that deserves some months on jail.

I'd say they need to learn some tolerance for people who are different, Poor Susan may have had some learning disabilities but God gave her a great talent. Hasn't she had enough to deal with, without people being so mean? Maybe the people need to remember "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I personally am sick of the foul language, the meanness, the brutality and the Godlessness that seems to exist in society today. What the World needs now is Love. Smile and spread niceness.

i think its amazing how someone her age can be so successful. and i dont mean to sound cheeky but shes not the prettiest girl in the world and she beats tons of really pretty girls.

Someone her age! lol... lillygagabitches I am 47 and feel like I did when I was 20. I just remarried 6 months ago and I look better now than when i was 20. Believe me, your 40's is nothng to dred or fear. They are what you make them. Also sex is much better in your 40s...so don't be looking down your nose at the potential of someone in their 40's...You'll be there yourself before you know it.

What is wrong with the people of England, you were picked on. Andrew Johnston was bullied. I always thought the English were classy people but I guess they have forgotten how to be civil to each other. We all need to improve the way we treat others and show more compassion for our fellow man.

@Pattyjo46 It's not just England, it's everywhere. People, young and old, travel in paks like wolves. One wolf chases the animal and when he tires of the chase, another wolf springs into action and after a time the animal is too tired to run anymore. When he is finished, the wolves go after another animal. It's the same at work, at school, in church, and all aspects of life.
