@chance501 Gary Moore(RIP) just passed away a month or so ago. Great blues guitarist and one of my favorites, but not quite in Duane's league.Just MHO. He is in my top 10 tho.
@theclarkey100 How 'bout Ry Cooder, Johnny Winter or Roy Rogers. These three are ever bit as good. I could name 2 dozen others. Most times these kinds of things are all a matter of taste.
@PLEEUZ all these guys are amazing - all so different from each other and, like you say, it's a matter of taste but I have heard none of them SOLO the way Duane did on the Live at Filmore East album
@chojinkid If he was tuned in d the 12th fret would be the D not the 10th. 0:39 he plays a d chord here. I play slide guitar a lot and I can tell he is in E not D. Btw you can also play this in stardard tuning. I do it that way live so i dont have to switch guitars for it.
@jojojosmart "rip-off" is putting it a bit strong - I'd prefer "heavily influenced" ...these guys are all great bluesmen and constantly use good stuff from each other. Some riffs and sequences have been around so long they would have to be called "traditional". I'd take it as a compliment if other players used some of my 'original' lines
Great job of classic Duane Allman cover of Elmores James song you play it great ,what model Gretsch guitar are you playing it looks like a nice old Country Gent? Really good tone what type of amp are you playing thru??? Thanks again!
Very nice. Love the tone. What are you playing through?

@TeamDiezelProduction judging by the spots he slides the bottle neck in this video he's tuned in D

Great solo-would love to hear it with a whole band

Nice solo but I'd prefer the genuine article, that is, Elmore James. Allman's solo is just a ripoff of that.
gitaarleraar1970 1 year ago
@gitaarleraar1970 you mean Taj Mahal
bthoma1 1 year ago
@gitaarleraar1970 - Then I guess Elmore James is a rip off of Blind Willie McTell. He's the genuine article.
