  • Pax Christi tecum. Might I suggest, Father, you include the vesting prayers - which, alas, I imagine are seldom used nowadays, except by traditionalists like myself. "Set upon my head O Lord the helmet of salvation that I may overcome the assaults of the devil.", and the rest. As Holy Tradition teaches: 'lex orandi - lex credendi'; what we pray is what we believe.

  • What a load of bollocks. Usual novus ordo crap; totally invalid and no better than the prots.

  • hey fr, what are u wearing in the beginning with your cassock? isit called a cape?

    like a camelengo.

  • @renshengmasituan It's a shoulder cape.

  • hmm....my local church here in malaysia had abandoned the usage of amice as well as girdle in the vestment...well, it would be so nice to see such priest with complete vestment...as the priest is going to celebrate the Mass with full of respect towards Him n rightly dresses himself completely and nicely...

just wanna ask...the GIRM doesn't mention anything about the usage of maniple for Paul VI Mass...does this mean that priests shouldn't wear it, or he can wear it if he wants to?

  • @ktrcssukm The maniple is optional for the new mass and required for the old. Just like it's recommended that priests use a chalice veil, but when is the last time you have seen one of those at the new mass.

  • @bmccoy78

Um, at my own "novus ordo" church? And a maniple; and a roman chasuble and amice. And a crucifix turned with the corpus facing the priest. And six candles on the altar, with the tabernacle right behind it. And the priest's chair to the far side. And celebrated ad orientem.

  • Excellent video. You give a very clear explanation and this video will be very useful to show to our parishioners and especially our altar servers.

  • Do you get hot in all those vestments? They look very warm.

  • Depends on the church. I'm blest to have an air conditioned church. But, I have been in churches without air and it can be very hot! It's a sacrifice for Our Lord!

  • Very good video, thanks a lot and I send you blessings from Sweden! Pax et bonum!

  • Thank you, this is really helping me in my Yr 9 RE studies

  • Like the cossack, the way every priest should dress.

Tell me Fr. why is the tabernacle in that little room and not at the High Altar?

  • This is my chapel in the rectory.

  • father im from philippines, some of priest i saw use chasuble-alb,,

    is it advisable?

  • Thank you for the info Father, it's very good to know about the traditions of the Priestly Vestments they all have a meaning and a purpose.

  • Father, Where did you buy your alb?

  • This ipadre thingy is nifty. It coulb be something used to teach ccd classes or something with.

  • that's obviously a surplice,I've never seen an alb with a neckhole like that

  • It is an alb! Some albs have the same cut as a surplice. This is similar to those made by Gamarelli in Rome. The same kind often used by Pope John Paul II

  • okay,you're right.

  • the whole amice-free closed-neck alb thingy is an atrocious post-conciliar homage to convenience over beauty. hopefully they will disappear soon!

  • My pastor (I am a Lutheran, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) recently started wearing an alb similar to ipadre's but it has a collar that almost looks like monastic hood (which can be worn in place of the amice in traditional settings). The closure, a small, concealed zipper, is covered by his stole, which is of the broad overlay style.

  • Hey, Great video I just have pne quick question. The alb that you put on looks to me somewhat like a surplice, is it.

  • Sacred vessels should be interesting since I have wondered why at commnion they have the eucharist for distribution in what look like wooden salad bowls sometimes. I prefer a beautiful chalice not a salade plate!

  • Excellent video Father! Maybe you can also talk about other liturgical vestments such as the Maniple or Pallium or old practices such as crossing the stole over the breast by the priest, as done in the Classical Rite.

I look forward to more videos! God bless!

  • Thank you! I do plan on doing more. Right now I am editing one on the process of guilding and you see a back wall of my sanctuary transformed. I'm also working on one on the sacred vessels. Much more to come!

  • Father, I really enjoyed your video, but have a question. I too am producing a video series (my first is already on YouTube entitled "Casting the'Net in Modern Times") My question is; if the cinture symbolizes chastity, why do permanent deacons wear them? I am a permanent deacon and don't mind wearing it, but still the question, why?

Again, great video. Awesome name iPadre. Thank you, Deacon John

  • Remember that chastity is not the same thing as celebicy. Celebicy is a specific form of chastity. Even as a married man, you are still called to be chaste.

  • How wide is a stole. It looks narrow on the clip. Are they ever 7" wide? (I am making one)

  • Usually between 3 - 4". Anything larger would get in the way and be very uncomfortable.

  • finally! a video about vestments. thanks father!

  • Thanks for posting a comment! More videos to come. Did you see my video on liturgical color? God bless!
