I grew up in Harvey in the 50's/60s, parents died there in the 1990s. I graduated from TTHS in 1969. I used to go to Pete and Mary's Rib Shack for my mom! Thanks for a great video.
The Sugar Bowl on 154th Street was owned by three Greek-American families: Pochos, Fraggos and Callas. Gus Miller at Miller's Cleaners & Hatters at 188 East 154th street was the first white-owned business to advertiuse on WBEE Radio! That was in the 1950s. He had attended Thornton graduating 1933. His son, Peter, graduated 1959. The real family name was Melonas. They lived at 228 East 150th Street at Main Street. Pete Athens owned 16 homes in Phoenix.
I used to live in Phoenix Illinois in the 1950's and move from there in 1967. It was really nice to see picture of Phoenix and your family I remember some of them. I went to coolidge school and Thornton and graduated in 1966. Your famil looks great.
