My chorale class in high school performed this at a state competition...we did well considering. You have not lived until you have heard a group of Georgia teenagers singing "shuurhurly!" Oh well...we practiced and we were sincere...and our director taught us to breath like angry rhinos....this presentation is fabulous...from one who is intimate with the score...
I agree about the tempo. This is one of the best recordings I have heard of this part of "Messiah." It is very complex in the harmonies and some recordings hide the modulations. I also appreciate the lightness of the orchestration. After all, when Handel first performed "Messiah" it was in Dublin meager respources. I have always thought that the "chastizement" section that beings at 1:33 is one of the neatest parts of the entire three hours. Dennis

Awesome presented. It's a piece I have to go for audition with QLD Choir. I'll have to be aware of pronunciation from the original piece.
Thanks for uploading it. Bambang

Sure, it's spelled "chastisement," but in terms of actual pronunciation, it sounds like "chastizement."

perfect...there are other videos up here of this piece being performed too fast in my opinion--this is the perfect speed to help the meaning sink in!
